YAY FOR 'kindof but also better' DUAL BOOTING OF LINUX AND WINDOWS
I'm on windows 7, but i'm ssh'ing into my user space on the linux system at uni, with xming installed and linked here in windows, so that from the linux terminal through putty, i can open any program, not just terminal based ones. which means i can even post on newgrounds, in a firefox running on linux at uni, from home, whilst also being on newgrounds on the same computer in windows
So essentially, i'm dual booting linux, only that linux isn't installed on my computer in any way, and i also have access to all the programs installed in the linux system at uni, aswell as all my files stored at uni, AWESOME

I do agree most definately!

I also live in Birmingham!
There was a Birmingham Newgrounds meet last year; you two should have came along! Especially considering that the meet's turnout was 3 people -_-

Wait, what? I'm confused. What do you mean by "firefox running on linux at uni, from home"? Is everything you're talking about happening on the same computer (and if that's the case, why not just dual boot linux on the same pc and access windows files from linux terminal?), or are you accessing files on one computer with an OS from a different computer with a different OS?
I don't think you can access linux files from windows if you're dual booting, or at least I've never tried on my PC, so if you can do that with whatever it is you're doing, then cool. But I still don't really know what the hell you're rambling about.
I'm running windows 7, on windows 7, i am running putty, and ssh'ing into my user space on the linux system at uni, which gives me access to all my files, and all the programs on that linux system, xming then lets me run any linux programs on the linux system that require any windows etc, as opposed to just terminal programs.
This means that in windows, i can be running programs including things like firefox, on the linux system at uni. So it's like dual booting my computer at home, with the linux system at uni, but simultaneously :P the linux stuff is not running on my computer at all , only the windows are run on my computer through xming.
For example here, i have firefox, amsn, winamp open in windows 7 being display on my right monitor, whilst i have the linux terminal and eclipse (which isn't installed on my computer at all!) running on the left monitor.
note there's nothing special about the fact i have linux on left and windows on right, i just displayed the windows that way, there's nothing stopping me having linux windows on right hand monitor, or overlapping with Windows program's windows etc

Delta, that's actually pretty awesome. You're basically taking virtual linux to a whole new level, except it's not really virtual, and it's not really running linux.. kind of... or something. well, it kind of is. maybe.

Shit, I never thought about it like that before reading your comment. Thanks for enlightening me, glorious windowskiller. Reverse psychology can be used to your benefit? Holy shit. Hey, maybe next we'll discover that non-reverse psychology can always be used for your benefit! How awesome would that be? Huh? You're a freaking genius

It's not virtual, but it most certainly is runnign linux, just not on my computer, it's on the university system, any of the linux programs can only access the files i have on my linux system at uni, whilst windows can only access the files on my windows system here at home on my computer.
I think of it as being a kind of 'virtual desktop' thing in windows, but for my user space in the linux system at uni, except that the graphical interfaces are running on my computer.

Either way, you are now the father of a mutant cross-breeded interface abomination, and I don't think I've ever seen anything more beautiful. Stop playing god, you cannot defy the laws of nature!
actually it's not really a new interface because all the linux programs run within windows interfance

It's as simple to do it with a windows box today y'know...

My sarcasm-o meter just broke.
Nice setup dELta, i've not seen that setup before. I moved over to linux for a few bits and bobs but i like the cross platform intergration you've got going. Does the Uni mind?

well it's kind of the point of allowing students to ssh into the system in the first place, so no :P

All he is doing is accessing a box he has access too... You've used stuff like vlc, or even windows "remote assistance", haven't you?

There might be. Most people had to cancel at the last minute for various reasons, so if there is a next time, the turnout is likely to be a fair bit greater.

I'd turn up. I'm a retard around Birmingham though, I know a few places but not all that well.
I don't see the point in going unless I really have to, it's a 30-40 minute bus up and sometimes i just cba.
very nice Mike. I can tell you've got a lot more to add to that whole flying class. That's when everything get's crazy (flying through mountains, edges of scenery, blah blah blah). Can't wait to see it finished. :)

Didn't spend too much time on it, but I noticed a couple of things: The vertical movement for the camera is too slow, during a high fall you can't properly see where you're going to land. Especially when the dialog box is still up. The flying also feels kinda... I dunno... unexciting. It should be faster I think, and maybe you should let the character float down slowly when you're not pressing any buttons.
I noticed you can't double jump anymore after you've reached the highest point? Although that might be more realistic, as far as double jumps are realistic, it takes a bit of fun away. When you're going for a really long jump you want to hit the double jump a bit later than the highest point so you can reach further, but that's not possible. In most games you can do this, so the lack thereof might bug some people.

its actually quite leanient in the jumping thing you can start to fall for a little while before having to press up again , i didnt want people to be almost touching the ground then jumping , that just sucks
HDXmike BTW
So I just decided to dust off my good ol' Facebook account. Turns out I have three invites from NG people, and I have absolutely no idea who they are without their NG usernames... Anyway, I'd like to have some more folks from NG on my list. So if you feel like sharing some contact info drop me a pm or something.
