netbook or notebook?
I'm gonna need a mobile computer within 2 months. Which one do you guys prefer? A few weeks back, I wouldn't ever have considered getting a netbook, those things look so small that a digital radio would have more computing power. However, playing around with a netbook for 5mins I noticed that it opens apps really fast (contrary to my dad's prediction), and it can run small games smoothly. My only concern is that the screen is so tiny, it just doesn't look very comfortable.

What do you guys think?

Sounds great. It's cool to know you were into that kind of stuff; I myself have rarely played DND itself, probably just under a dozen serious games in my entire life when my brother was DM'ing for a group of (his) friends and I was allowed to join in. Actually I still have a monster manual, a manual of the planes, and a player's handbook that my brother left behind. I'll also have a couple of adventure books when im back home. that stuff is good for inspiration

StumbleUpon

Holy fuck, SU just showed me this website:

http://www.funnypoetry.com/everwonder.ht m

The website linked to above is amazing. It manages to encompass EVERYTHING that is wrong with people. The site is unique, as it is the only site in the entire web with zero redeeming features. As I view the site I can actually feel my brain cells dying.

If anyone found the site humourous, please PM your address so I can send an assassin to your home.

You're British; he's called Father Christmas.

That really irks me when Brits say "Santa".

Still, it's not as bad as when Brits say "Zee" instead of "Zed". If a British person says "Zee" I should be allowed to punch them in the face, without any repercussions.

Netbooks or notebook

I would prefer netbook, i rarely ever really want to actually work when im on a laptop anyway.
I usually use portable computers when im out of town anyway and lugging a fullsize laptop sucks in airports and london meats.

I know there are people who actually do work on a laptop though but the idea of sittin in a starbucks to actually work (hi Swain) is silly. Generally i just want to use a notebook to catch up on my facebook pokes (hi Saza), twitter nonsense, get on msn, lock a thread (lmao) or maybe burn some mins fucking around with mame games.

I leave my workhorse computing for my desktop. Either way, i generally prefer the more powerful of the netbooks. I know they are by nature supposed to be skimpy on power, but still, there is a wide range of degrees of power to netbooks. If you get the bottom of the line you may as well just buy a laptop from the second hand store.

Netbooks or notebook

I've only ever had one laptop, and that'd be my Macbook. I've never taken it to airports and london meets like good ol Luis, but I have taken it out, to school, to friends. It doesnt bother me carrying it around, it's light, has a great battery life and the only reason I have a desktop now, is for gaming.

Buy a Macbook kids.

I got 2000 a few posts ago too :P

Downloaded Windows 7 on Bootcamp, got the Drivers, got Farseer working, finished Lost Season 5, and other shit. Pretty productive day, woohoo! First in a long, long time.

The guy at the Genius Bar asked me why I needed Windows and I told him I was using XNA and for other things. Weird, he is trying to develop for the PS3. Haven't heard of many people doing that, anyone know anyone who has done it successfully?

You bastard. I'm gonna chime in anyway. Anyone born after 1979 is a life n00b.

Netbooks vs. Notebooks

I haven't owned a desktop in 6 years, and unless I get back into PC gaming or heavy into 3-D animation, I don't forsee myself every owning another desktop in my life.

Laptops nowadays = desktops you can sit anywhere in your house or on the road and use.
With Wireless External Hard drives, network printers, bluetooth mice.. ect.. ect... you don't need to be tethered to anything to use all of your peripherals.

Besides... not having a CD drive is a small annoyance, and if you're going to have a screen smaller than 9 inches.. just get a palm or iPod Touch.

I just got a friend his first laptop. Sure... it's an ACER... but it's 2megs of ram, 200gb Hard drive and it CD/RW, 4 USB ports.. ect.. ect... and was a wopping $250.00.

If it dies in 2 years... throw it away and buy a new one for that price.

Laptops > Netbooks.

Netbooks vs Notebooks

I must say notebooks are better because it's better to have everything on one unit. If I do get a desktop my opinion might change but sitting around in different parts of the house to work on stuff with trackpad and watch tv is better for my soul.

Netbooks are a bit big to be carrying around when you could check internet stuff on a phone or ipod or something like that. I'd invest in a phone that can do multiple things rather than a netbook. It is fun to see things on a larger screen, though. I just feel like I'm always gonna have that one time where i just neeeeeed to work on something if I have a computer.

blog writing is cool though. i donno. i just feel like it'd be a handicapped computer. i just check those small internet things on ipod touch.

with all this google stuff, etc, like their OS for netbooks, i'd say it will become more popular with more important features though

You are mistaken, 1990 is the year that things.. stopped.

I hate it when I'm playing a game (on PSN or Steam) and notice someone with a username with a year in it that's after ~1990.. especially when it's close to 2000 (CoolKid89 or something). Depresses me thinking I'm playing with ~10 year olds, and then I realise I played games back then.. but that was PS1/PS2, god damn it.

Merry Christmas everyone :)

no I think I can solve all of this

1988> old :P

1989< joke

1996< has nothing of the 90's

1998< culture destroyets

2000< going to bend logic with culture destroying at an even younger age

so I'm in the joke era... at least I'm not bending logic.
