As a writer and a programmer, I find there isn't really much I can do with my talents when it comes to interactive media without an artist. That being said, how does a writer fit into the equation of interactive media? When can a writer make a legitimate claim to contributing to a project?

IMO for small scale and flash projects if you want to be a writer or designer then it is REQUIRED that you are also an artist or a programmer.

Programmers can do just fine without an artist. Learn how to use special effects.
Well for certain types of games at least.

I've just started doing it and I'm just wondering if anyone else does.
If so what exercises do you do?
How much weight/reps?
And what's your targets?

I'm surprised no one has referenced "Dick Neck" yet.

Being as I'm a swimmer, I usually swim an intense 2 hour workout with my club team that covers at least 5000 yards per day. At the gym, I do endurance reps to help swimming (10 reps will build bulky muscle which would make me slower in the pool). For bench press I do 100 pounds with the 20 reps per set (3 sets).

Did it really take 6-7 weeks to make?
I was about ready to buy one when I found out,
but that was an immediate turn-off for me.

I started working out a couple years ago. I decided that if I was going to be doing Flash for 40 hours a week I needed to get in shape and get away from the computer more. Working towards something like a big bike event or running event is what has kept me going since then. I did my half marathon and my 100 mi bike ride this year and next year I want to work towards a full marathon.

Impressive, do you do events regularly then?

I do weight lifting twice a week and try to do some sort of cardio once a week when not training. When training for a cardio-related event I try to work out 3 times a week at least, at least 30 minutes cardio and 30 minutes lifting. On Sundays I would do an extended cardio (like 2-5 hours) to get set for the run/ride.

Guessing this answers my question. DO you not almost get close to exhaustion though because full time racking your brains to be creative with games then getting home from the 9 til 5 and working out and doing all the husbandish things to do the on weekends doing big events. How do you manage?

When i lift I try to focus on only one thing. It might be bicep night, back night, legs night, etc... just work a muscle group at a time then return to it in a week or so. That's worked for me fairly well. Since i am trying to bulk more than tone I do high weight/ low rep(reps of 15) instead of lighter weight with more reps (reps of 30).

My father who originally got into lifting does exactly this and now benches 256 pounds for 8 reps. I envy that man.

Also hang out with someone who knows the equipment or take out a personal trainer/class to get used to it. Using equipment wrong (or using just the wrong equipment for the job) is a waste of time. Having someone just get you in gear is so useful, especially in a gym environment.

Will do, started with my father who does it as his hobby.

I find that working out is a great way to relieve stress and get some frustration out. Anyone else find the same thing true?

Yawn. I got two hentai games made using sound fx of my fancy mic recording my dog slobbering and licking his lips. One was originally being made for hentaikey.com, but I changed my mind. These things take one 8 hour day to make. Much simpler then huge side scrollers. Still this is the last time I wish to mingle in hentai. I'm curious at what the ad profit will be considering the amount of hentai fappers - I mean fans that come to NG. I'm hoping a lot will watch - then I get to make fun of an army of fapping kids that fap to curvy movieclips and graphics accompanied by the sound of a dog. lol I can also laugh at the irony that I was once one long ago and I came to NG the first time looking for hentai in my youth - I'll never let down that's how I found this place so I suppose I owe some sort of debt to hentai bringing me here so I shall repay it by contributing some hentai to the NG hentai collection-thing - despite a large awkward feeling not only creating these but, putting them out there.

Theirs a fear of people demanding more of this kind of stuff from me - while I'm also hoping this is just a real good attention grabber to get me notice. If I can turn enough heads - some may see the Duders. If all my Duder toons had thousands of views with people telling me to stop and no more - the series ain't good, etc. then I would stop it or fix it. However Duders flash rarely reaches the 2000 view marker so theirs not much of an opinion on 'em except for the few helpful reviews and score.

Originally was hoping for some sort of job in flash development even if it were hentai - decided to stick with the Duders though. I feel I just need a lil' more patience and always just that next episode or game away.

On another note: Darryl tells me I should convert each of my flash to video and put them on youtube urging me that I would for sure gain both more recognition and publicity - but, maybe get a good amount of fans. I hold strong that I will never do that. I told Tom Fulp a long long time ago the Duders home is on Newgrounds. DuderEntertainment.com is my lil' internet hermit HQ for me to display what I wish and link my work. The audience for the Duders is here. NG holds true to Everything by Everyone.

Fuck. Sorry guys I wanted this to be a paragraph at most and it seems each time I post here it's like I'm delivering informal essay of my flash status to my beloved peers and fellow NGers.

Final things. I lost my job as a concrete worker - which explains me job hunting online.
Been diggin' ditches and workin hard in building my garage into a suite. Hopefully will move in by end of the month.
My book is nearing completion.
And I'm enjoying the treasure hunt a lot. I've made sure to watch almost each one. I look forward to the series category to see if anyones remembered to watch the Duders. :3 lol

Peace guys. Sorry for the big read - no feelings harmed if ya blow a lot of it off.

my animation class is doing pretty well. i've been teaching these guys about tweening, masking, and other flash essentials. mine's probably gonna be the best, but that's only because i've had a year of practice.

excluding me, here's what's probably gonna be the prettiest film

here's what's probably gonna be the smoothest film (excluding me)

and here's the person in the class who's second to me in experience

overall it's a fairly good class, but i get to screw around and i still have the best grade.

having a lot of fun in this class

also preordered L4D2. add me on steam (fluffkomix)

Indeed. But I've had it tough lots in life out here so I'm pretty confident that even negative publicity I can survive. I've also had some good test runs of lots of negative reviews like Mullet King Fact Generator and MTC Plane Blastin. Nah, bring it on and all it's good and bad. I want it.

I like that part, and the unpractical use of tweens is hilarous.

Haha, that looks like a spam flash on the portal

He sort of knows what he's doind, although he's pulling out really nooby stuff

That sounds like good stuff to raise your averages, I can't wait 'til I stop using MS Word on my informatic class and start using design programmes and Flash

That was a lot of fun.

Patchman 3 = <3
Exile 4 = late >:(
Game = :O
Go finish those projects now :)

Man there is such a huge difference between patchman FBF and Exile FBF, no seriously!

Basically, patchman is very comically animated, to turn his head i can draw 3 frames and he'll whip around sorta thing, and it'll look normal. Exile deals with people that are more detailed, and im also working on having humanlike fluid animation, so i 3 frames to turn patchmans head, is like 12 frames for guy in exile to do the same.

Also exile 4.. it'll be out eventually, im waiting on half of the ray voices but it looks really pretty so far :D I can't provide a date however i can just say its out when its out :/ Christmas break hopefully i'll just motor it.

If you come and visit as you said you would, if i catch you fappin to hentai boi imma beat you!. . . at thumb wrestling..

I wouldn't mind knowing how much that pays off either, however I could never stoop to that level even if it did bring publicity. I have this kinda mindset where yeah, if you make a bunch of hentai or shit like that you will get popular, and it wouldn't be hard. But you'd only be popular with that particular target audience. By making things like patchman for example, or even your duders, you could gain much more fans from a much bigger audience, and though it would take way longer to make and get popular, it would reap way more benefits in the end.

Plus, lets say adam phillips suddenly was like "k imma make some hentai", would that not definetily affect how many fans see him? Hmm... i guess this pretty much means i'm trying to maintain an image :/ ah well, i know i'm not the only one.

only you guys know the real me! MWHAHA! To everyone else i'm just "that guy that made kingdom hearts chronicles" (yeah its weird, that's still the only thing ppl recognize lmao).
