Travelling Help
This question is mainly to Americans, or people who have travelled.
I am English, and me and a friend are going travelling next year. For one of our trips we want to buy a car and drive from New York to LA and Vegas. We will both have been driving for around 2 years and be 19 years old, but how easy is it going to be to get insurance on the car? Thankyou!
Dude, traveling from New York to Florida is a 20 hour drive and that's along the east coast. I can't imagine how long it'd take from New York To LA. You'd probably be better off renting a car in LA and driving to Vegas (which is fucking great btw. If you can stay on the strip I'd recommend the Flamingo. It's a great hotel and very affordable).
Regarding renting a car, I've only ever seen 25. If you do manage to find some place that will rent to you, like Luis said the underage fees are outrageous. I'm pretty sure you can buy a ticket on a Grey Hound bus, which are very comfortable. In New York I can guarantee you won't want a car. It's very uncomfortable driving around, and finding parking is super difficult. You're better off walking. Also, Taxi routes are very extensive, and the drivers always know the best way around town so you can just ask them to take you where you wanna go. It should be the same in LA, but I've never been there so I can't say. In Vegas you can just walk around. If you stay at the Flamingo, you'll be right in the middle of the strip. The Bellagio will be right across from you which has some of the best night clubs and the dancing waters or w/e it's called. You can also walk up the strip to the Vanitian which has a lot of good venues too.
Also keep in mind the drinking age in the US is 21, so you're going to have a very hard time getting liquor so you may want to try bringing your own. Or if you know where you're going to be staying, shipping some ahead of you.
