I dont post enough :\
RISD maybe for their traditional animation department, but their computer animation program is outdated and weak. that's the reason i didn't even bother finishing my application for RISD. for east coasters looking into computer art/animation, id look into Ringling, SCAD, and SVA. They all have very strong computer arts programs. Also, for those of you who think traditional animation is what you want, think hard about it before you go that path. Lots and lots of people here at SVA who originally were in traditional animation switched or want to switch to computer animation.

I pretty much agree with everything mnwfi said. For whatever its worth, RISD was my first choice when i got out of high school.. i got in and couldnt afford it. They offered very little in scholarship and halp. Start savin up. Also Rhode Island.. cmon who the fuck wants to live there!!!!

I applied to Ringling also, i was on the verge of pulling the trigger and then found that Sarasota(?) is too sleepy of a town. Its a good school tho.. i believe ed skudder went there and that dude is da bombbb. I dont know much about SVA.. but you can ask Dan that. he seems pretty happy. And its NYC, cant beat that.

Anyways thats my 3 cents. All of which i need back because I can use it towards my financial aid at RISD.

The you on the internet is pretty much the real you without restrictions of getting punched in the face for being a dick though. Most companies that do that have hundreds of resumes to sort through and I'm sure online searching is just a way to help them pull out the 420 crowd or so.

Bitter nothing, Thanksgiving is a silly festival. Ooh, let's give thanks (to who?) by buying loads of food and spending the day with doing boring things with our boring relatives on an arbitrary day in Autumn. It's a nothing "holiday".

If only New York was still Dutch... Imagine how much fun that would be, windmills instead of skyscrapers, coffeeshops instead of mcDonalds, everybody would go to work on their bicycles wearing the latest wooden shoes and pick up a hooker on their way home...

It's funny whenever an American brings up the Boston tea thing or any war in which we didn't do particularly well, because us Brits have no idea about any of it. Sure, we've all heard of the tea thing through the American media and stuff, but we don't know or care too much about it. We only get taught things about ancient history and wars in which we won (in high school at least, further education may delve into lesser known events but who does History at A level?), so anything else is pretty unknown.

Unless there was a "Horrible Histories" book on it, I must have missed that one.

I can't imagine the war of 1812 wasn't really taught it just illustrates how spoiled we are with instant communication. I'm a little rusty on the subject but here goes.

There were these guys who wanted to go to war in hopes of the U.S conquering Canada congress at the time wasn't all that for it. The UK and Napoleon were having some marital issues and you imposed trade blockades on France that interfered with our neutral trading which our merchants didn't like. Our British ambassador lobbied with little sucess to get the restrictions lifted along with the British merchants. Eventually they were lifted but without instant communication the U.S didn't know that, so 2 days later congress voted to go to war with the UK. We failed at invading/capturing Canada eventually everyone realized we were fighting for nothing so we're like aight lets stop. Some treaty was signed where neither side lost anything. The UK still had troops in New Orleans after this treaty was signed and we had an American General (Andrew Jackson) with plans to attack. News of the treaty didn't arrive till after our forces slaughtered 4000 British Naval troops.

Andrew Jackson went on to be president basing a lot of his campaign on his war hero status for a battle he shouldn't have ever fought.

I see how the tea party wouldn't be that interesting to you guys though.

I'm cool now... Right guys?... Guys?

Meh. When I was in history at school, it wa different. We were taught how much of a set of bastards we were during the Crusades and how our parliment commited Regicide and how the leader of that was a total douche, and we were taught how much we were hated in India and how much we sucked the few years before WW2, and how Baroness Maggie annoyed a lot of Coal Miners and people in the Falklands.

I think that covers most of English History. Oh. We also watched Braveheart.

Case in point, thats why Japanese containment camps set up in the US are a footnote on the World War 2 section of history books. You won't even find the sick shit we did to Japanese soldiers who enlisted to fight along side us. There was a program (approved by the beloved FDR) where Japanese Americans were used as bait to train attack dogs to 'sniff out' Japanese people, with the belief they smelt different. The program failed.

Wow, that's interesting.

Kaynslamsdyke said stuff about English history.

I didn't learn anything atall in History at school really. But now I realise that's one thing i'm very interested in.

Lies and slander. I'm not bitter at all, Holidays like thanksgiving and Xmas suck ass, as bank holidays in general are lame. They're alright when you're at school, because it's a day off, but once you're older it's gay. Nothings open, the pubs shut early, the roads are full, annoying relatives turn up, they're a major hassle. What I am slightly annoyed about is that this company in America we're dealing with is closed today and tomorrow. Come on Yanks, quit shirking and get working!

I did the fall of the Tsars up until Stalin, But we did Charles I, Cromwell and Charles II instead of Henry VIII. Did a bit about Germany in the lead up to WWII. All interesting stuff.

Fun fact: Cromwell banned Christmas and started the British Empire by gaining control of Jamaica
