HO HO HOPE you become a Newgrounds Supporter this year!
We're working hard to give you the best site possible, but we have bills to pay and community support is vital to keep things going and growing. Thank you for considering!

What's been happening on the Newgrounds? Anything exciting?
There's been quite a lot of good flash recently. Check out Fallen Angel, the graphics are beautiful.

Aah yeah I saw those. I used to have the teaser on my favorites for ages. It's cool that it's finally done because I always just thought of that as never happening.
Wow it's almost christmas.. And almost January. Who here is coming to the newgrounds meetup in Londonistan?

Looks good, see if you can get one printed and send it to tom, he seems to like new shirts for the store atm. If you manage to produce it, make sure to pm me so i can get one :). I'm getting a few for xmas.
Artist Rivalry
It is a battle that will last many an eon, but we will persevere! I'm not even sure what side i would be on though :S. Anyone else here wandering between the two, i mean there's the clear cuts, like delta and britishmoose(no offence guys), but people like glaiel have a good share of both talents.

And since were already talking about past events, anyone remember Kayn's epic 4000th post?
Today I came to the terrible realisation that probably over 99% of the world's population thinks that there is something such as "free will". I hesitated whether to make a NG post about it or not, because I know that I won't cover everything I have to say about this subject here. Anyway I came across this problem in french, and then in social sciences. We were talking about how people who are born in disadventageous areas (like very poor places where there is a lot of violence) have an unfair disadvantage in respect to getting jobs and doing studies compared to people who were born in more respectable areas. They said that some people were working really hard to get diplomas and shit but still couldn't get jobs because they were discriminated against for something that is not their fault.
I find this absurd. For me, killing someone or robbing a bank is not more "your fault" than being born a certain skin color or what-so-ever is your fault. Their argument is that if you're born black, there's nothing you can do about it, no matter what you do you will be discriminated against (for sake of argument let's hypothetically assume that without exceptions, all black guys are discriminated against). However, can't you apply the same thing for someone robbing a bank? He was born with this specific set of genes, in a specific environment with specific people, which, through a complicated and extremely long chain of cause & effect, made him rob a bank. What could he do about it? Well, I don't believe it has any practical value to ask this question. In this sense of "doing something about it", I don't think we can do something about anything. This is why I believe people shouldn't be judged in a way that punishes their mistakes, but in a way that will assure the best future and will solve the problem caused by the mistakes. I don't believe in putting people in jail just because they are bad people and deserve to be punished; I don't see people as bad or good people, I see them soleley as the product of their genes in function of their environment. I see them as a faulty component that needs to be repaired to ensure the system won't be damaged.
I could go on for pages about this but I need to wake up for school in 4 hours. I just wanted ot know if you guys agree with me. I know that my view is controversial and very rare, but I can't see any reason for thinking we have this thing called free will.

My art is pretty terrible.
Also, animators and programmers are very similar.
We both try to turn motion into something else. Animators turn it into animations, and programmers turn it into code. When both the code and animation fluidly represent motion and work together, you end up with a much better game than just having one or the other.
Luis, I think you have really good animation.
Glaiel, Spectrum is one of the coolest games I've seen on newgrounds.
Can't we all just get along?
I was forced into a night out, lol :S
Well, I was in my room browsing the web and listening to VERY LOUD MUSIC when my mate walked in and said fancy going to the shop.. then we're walking past the uni bar and he's like "oh, well.. theres a game on, then theres the pub quiz, fancy a few pints?" so I thought fuck it and went in. In between each round theres a "Bonus Game" where one or two people participate in something mildly silly/amusing and perhaps have a contest (which of the 2 can eat a chocolate bar fastest, with their hands tied behind their backs, etc) and as a show of good will the participants get a few free tickets to "Aruba", a nearby nightclub whos student night is that night (Monday). Anyway, we bumped into a few friends and my mate ended up going up for the bonus game thing to get a ticket for Aruba because he wanted to go but this girl who joined us there had no money for a ticket. I didn't really wanna go so was planning on fucking off at 11 ish.. but he got 4 tickets, and one doesn't say no to a free ticket even though it's not the best club around.. still fun. The club was dead all night, I've only been a few times to this one and it's always been heaving but tonight (even though it was Student night, so cheaper entrance and drinks) there were maybe 50-75 people all night.. the dance floor was empty til 1am, lol. Still, it was a very fun night out when people started dancing and things ^_^ Plus I'm not even pissed, had about 5 pints and 2 shots.. it helped that the cider in Aruba tasted like moose piss though, so I only had 2 pints.
Dun de dun... dun de dun dun dun de dun.
Londontown
I'm still planning on going, I shall be working over the XMAS holidays and hopefully will make £400ish, £200 of which I can probably rely on for the Londonberrytownsbridge visit. You better not be mad ol chaps, I don't want to get into no trouble oh ho ho no!
Sup, bitches :)

Help Me Create A Game
Is any of the Action-Scripters here that are actually good open for use to help me develop a nice game? I'm really interested in collaborating with one of you guys, and create a game. I haven't ever created an actual really good game before, and I'm really up for the challenge.
I'll help think of the idea and do all the artwork, and you can just be my scripter, and we can create a masterpiece (: Haha, I feel like a n00b.

Junkcow's rich
He and BoomToons won 10k. I feel happy for them.
CalArts
Their animation program is tough to get into, i used to know a few people who went there they went as illustration majors tho. The animation concentration seems to concentrate more on the 3d aspect of animation. You take 2d in your foundation years but then move out of it. This was awhile ago though before flash hit its prime time. So maybe thats changed in recent years. I'd be interested to know actually. Its a solid school and probably one of the best programs on the west coast.

I dont post enough :\
RISD maybe for their traditional animation department, but their computer animation program is outdated and weak. that's the reason i didn't even bother finishing my application for RISD. for east coasters looking into computer art/animation, id look into Ringling, SCAD, and SVA. They all have very strong computer arts programs. Also, for those of you who think traditional animation is what you want, think hard about it before you go that path. Lots and lots of people here at SVA who originally were in traditional animation switched or want to switch to computer animation.
My teacher told me that businesses will start look at social sites like facebook and myspace to interperet whether you would be a good employee, bullshit >:C
.
That's been a trend here for a couple of years now, I'm glad I'm not that traceable on the interwubs. The only few hits you get when Googling my name are from the university and Newgrounds I think. I don't have a Facebook or MySpace account, not an active one anyway, I'm actually glad I never really got into that. Pictures of your drunk self puking on someone at a party might be cool to you and your friends, your future employer might disagree. People tend to be more open about their likes and dislikes (their life in general) on the internet because for some stupid reason they think they're more anonymous online (quite the opposite really), that kind of thinking could really get you in trouble sometime.
