Did everyone see this? The Flash Regs thread appeared to be locked for a moment, but now, the locked icon has disappeared.

That was refreshing. I think locking it one day a week is kind of nice. I got a ton of work done and i was excited to come back and show it.

I dont think it should be locked forever.. i think people just need to exhibit more self control on their own behalf. Its nice to have it locked for a day cause you become motivated to work and show youre a productive member of society when the lounge reopens.

I wouldn't mind if the reg lounged was only open 1 day per week, i got some work done and it was nice. besides, i go out a lot even when it's not locked so I don't really care

I don't really have any good ideas right now so I'm just coding random engines and see if I can make anything out of it. So far it looks like I'm gonna stick to this RPG battle system similar to Sonny. Still looking to do a collaboration with an animator.

I posted the HUD for this game a few weeks ago. Some people said it was a bit too decorative and too big, so I did a new one, which i much prefer. My coder has just said he prefers the old one, however. I kinda hate it now, something about the white just makes it look crappy.

Anyway, what do you guys prefer, top or bottom (were just talking about the HUD)?

I agree that using the reg lounge as an excuse for not being more helpful in the forum is lame, but that doesn't make it any less true for me. :-P

Nice to see the thread open again. I was working on this before, but i may aswell post it. It's an exactly 1:1 copy of an island off of Fiji. I made it in crysandbox2, just a quick sketch, no plants or AI so far.

I think we should all grow up and refrain from posting whenever we feel like it. It's better to be able to post but not post because you've learnt something, rather than not posting because you're not able to post. It's like when I played wow, it's actually gone to a point where i was gonna set myself a parental control because it was just too hard to have the willpower to stop playing when i can keep on playing.

from now on I will try to only post when someone needs help, when I want to show something in flash, or when i have something very interesting to say.

Work
Apparently you people want whoever posts here to show some work.. well all of my work was porting AS2 code to AS3. In this, I've found out how much I really love AS3. It's so much nicer it's unreal. The listeners are so useful, I can now just make a "new Class()" and have the object work, without making a timer inside the class (I'm sure there are other ways but eh).. either way I love AS3. I'm never going back to AS2 :)

so i've dabbled a bit in AS3, but i never really made a fully-fledged game with it, and now it's really nagging at me. AS2 is pretty easy for making games with lots of dynamically generated movieclips with their own onEnterFrames and properties and shit without too much hassle, but i need someone to sort of mentor me in how to do this with AS3.

haha saying all mainstream music is crap is utter bullshit man. I agree that most of the shit you hear on the radio is rubbish, but there are still hundreds of massively popular bands that are good.

If you look at the last.fm charts for the most popular artists, most of those bands are pretty fucking good. Its not all stuff I would necessarily listen to, but its still good. I think people need to learn that just because you dont like a band doesnt make them crap.

I didn't say we can't refrain from posting, I said we should refrain from posting, thus why we should revolutionize (lol) the reg lounge. You can't honestly tell me that people aren't posting too much. Every time I check the reg lounge after I sleep there's like 2-3 new pages. It is obvious that if everyone was able to concentrate on flash for a few hours and work really hard without ever browsing the reg lounge, there would be a lot more productivity on the flash forum. I think I'm not the only one here who used to hit refresh every 3min to see if someone replied to my posts when I was bored and didn't feel like flashing: well we have to put an end to it.

Make every day your productivity day, make most of the days your locked reg lounge day, and you will have a much better life.
