The Dark Knight
Just saw it, any yeah it's a hell of a lot better than the first new Batman. Heath Ledger's performance is completely hypnotic. I hear he's not in the next one, though :( The direction was a load better too, this time round.
On the minus side, Nolan seems incapable of pulling off a decent climax. He seems to approach it at several points in the film before backing off, but at the end everything just seems to collapse of exhaustion. I mean, what ever happened to ending something with a good ol' fashioned fist-fight on a skyscraper? Also, the right-wing elements are a little annoying, as is the clumsy attempt to make up for them by sledgehammering in an inappropriate reference to wire-tapping.
All in all, Ledger's performance and the way it's handled make this an awesome film. The rest isn't quite so great.
