It was $50k - $70k as a salary, which means $50,000 - $70,000. I'm not sure what animators or graphic artists here (US) make, but for a good programmer, that's kind of on the low side--though certainly livable and good enough for a "at least I like my job" type of job. Also, I believe it's about par for course when it comes to being an *Actionscript* programmer.

I think I might have mised out the 'starting' salary part. Thats the average starting salary, not the overall average. If you're good and work for a good (rich) company, you can get anything up to £80k ($160k) and maybe beyond.

But that isn't average. The statistic for average salary for an AS developer is £30k a year.

This will give you a decent idea:

http://www.itjobswatch.co.uk/jobs/uk/fla sh%20developer.do

But don't expect to come straight from NG casual game making to 30k + a year. Most developers on NG lack the professional skills and experience to get that much on their first job.

£30,000 is about $58,000. UK Income tax rates for that band are 20%, so take home pay is about £2000, or $3950 per month.

It's a very comfortable salary, especially in the midst of a recession (which the UK is currently going through - two consecutive quarters of negative growth). It's also £10000pa more than what I'm on.
London environment might mean a bit of a high cost of living though.

Congratulations! Your vote was the last vote needed for this submission to be protected!

Since when do you make the final deciding vote and this stupid sentence pops up instead of the Protection Flash Movie. That's dumb.

Been like that since the redesign. I preferred to before when you got the animation if you saved/blammed it. Also, when you get the final blam vote it say something like "Congratulations you just destroyed someones hard work" when 9 times out of 10 they didn't work hard on it at all D:

They were supposed to commission edmund to do a new line of em but i guess edmund is too busy or tom didnt feel like it was worthwhile. i almost wish they used the original ones anyway.. there was something satisfying about their crudeness.

Average United States household income is $48,000 (two parents salaries combined), there's something to think about while you discuss salaries for Flash Development :).

There is something rather worrying about the phrase "power couple"...

Yea I saw it on wiki too. It's crazy though, because you just simply cannot live of that ammount. The data must be skewed by people living in council houses or in caves. You cannot move out and go into private rented accommodation in UK without at least £25k a year. Even then you'll struggle a lot.

Oh just thought, maybe it means after tax, which would make a little more sense.

You've got to remember that the cost of living in different places around the world is vastly different.
