I've lost all respect for danomano.

http://www.newgrounds.com/portal/view/44 8095

Not only did he get co'ed in the MGS collab he submitted his own collab entry as a separate entry in the hopes of "giving credit" to those who were not given credit to before.

In general, I just really hate when people resubmit their COLLAB PARTS that were intended for a collab and are already featured in a collab and have already recieved awards for that collab, be resubmitted on their own. It's either a desperate cry for attention or just view / award whoring.

I can only agree with you there. Giving credit is a pretty weak excuse as there aren't many people who worked on the part...

I lost respect for everyone who entered the second they did. I mean, why don't you just make your own movie or short instead of piggybacking on everyone else's work.

If that were the case couldn't you work in the credits as part of the collab submission? If it were really that important to you, to give credit in a collab piece, you would have figured out how to do it, or at least got stamper to make an exception.

Sometimes its fun to do a group project. Specially with a project like that where you are a fan of the game and you just want to geek out over it in a semi-creative manner. The approach of having it not be a project that derails you from your bigger individual projects i think is appealing. Its like a chance to give a quick nod to a game you enjoyed playing. I personally cant really find the humor in video games when i play em so thats not really my cup of tea... i did enjoy the blamformers collab better.

I think you miss out on alot if youre an animator that lives his life as a hermit. Sometimes its fun to jump on a moving train and juts get caught up in the novelty of whats going on around you.. blamformers went out when the transformers movie premiered.. this mgs collab was supposed to sync with the release of the new mg game, the rock out contest synced with the slew of guitar hero games coming out in the mainstream etc. I think for the most part nobody takes these mini project seriously and they are just fun. I dont think anyone goes into this expecting a portfolio piece or even something that will not be totally forgotten in a few months when the buzz has faded.

Anyway that stunt dan pulled was lame. Whats lamer is the moron voters who know whats going on and still are like durrr metal gear 5'ed. lmao i wish before you were allowed to vote you had a questionaire you had to fill out. I envision it something like this... answering yes on any of em would bar your vote from counting. XD

1- Are you voting 5 / 0 merely on who the artist(s) of this movie
2- Are you voting 5 / 0 because you recognize the characters because you've seen them on tv or at your favorite game retailer?
3- Are you voting 5 / 0 because you saw what might resemble a female breast
4 - Are you voting 5 because this is your own movie lol

feel free to add your own

Luis I've got a question for you.
Why are you like the official London meet-up guy even though you don't live in the country?
Also, why are you spending a considerable amount of cash to come play with some kids?
It's a little suspicious... You don't steal from them or anything worse do you?

Loving the screenshot. Whats the storyline to it? Looks pretty sexy.

You yanks do work experience over there?

Here I'm stuck at a graphic designers house making a crappy church website by myself being forced to use tables all the time D:

T...t...tables?! I would refuse! >=[

I went to work with my Dad when I did my work eperience. I ended up finishing all of my assigned tasks really quickly and spent the rest of the time learning browsing the web.

It was okay, but pretty boring.

Go outside, listen to music (soundtracks!), read a book, go see a movie, do anything but don't sit behind your computer all day trying to figure out what to do.

Also, Rustygames, did a collab kill your puppy when you were young? You seem to have a special dislike regarding collabs, I wonder what caused that.

Work Experience

Everyone seems to be on it at the moment. I did it last year when I was in year 10 (14-15years) but everyone, even people my age has been on it for past few weeks. I personally didn't hate my experience nor did I love it. I was hoping to do something computer related but I didn't organize it in time and ended up doing it in good ol' Halfords. The only fun bit was assembling the bikes the rest was pretty crap. But one good thing came of it.. my friends who I hadn't seen for ages came to see me which was awesome. Then one of them decided she wanted to go back out with me but it didn't last.

Shes still my best friend though :3

I did work experience for armorgames quite a few years back now. It sucked, they just said "make a game" and left me to get on with it. Better then working in some shop though. That's what I hate about the whole thing, the work they get most kids to do is some tedious shit like stacking shelves. That helps no one.

Sounds better than nothing. I've done vertually nothing all week. Sneakily made a 5 second stupid animation (of me pooing on a guy I know's head - don't ask) for my friends' site, and they liked it.

The dude is a really nice guy though. Linky. Bit old and his breath is a bit poo, but he's nice :)

Out of habbit I was gunna put XO at the end. Been on myspace for too long....
Don't judge me.

I never knew there was an 'official' person. The first time i went, i was on vacation and just threw it out on the thread if people were interested in hanging out... it worked out and it just sort of became an ongoing thing. *shrug*

Anyone has always been welcome to throw their own gatherings, and there have been people that do. like mods in canada and their canadian meets.

Also, why are you spending a considerable amount of cash to come play with some kids?

I enjoy travel and if i can run into a familiar face along the way then so be it.
I think i'm old enough to be in control of my expenses no matter how rediculous.

it is suspicious innit.

Lol too much, now that the dollar is all but worthless.

I was reading an article where Europeans now considered the US a bargain stop... hell even canada now gets a better deal by coming across the border.. it used to not be like that for many years.

In regards to your question, i use my frequent flyer miles that i accumulate traveling nationally to absorb the large pricetag items like going to europe.

So its like $750 + 25,000 miles .... i dunno how much it is without ff miles.

I'll probably skip having a meet over there next year unless Tom is intending to show up. I'd like to goto australia instead.

Ok my turn to ask invasive question.. although its not really that invasive i suppose...
were you going to revisit the ng card game again at some point?

Haha yes Rusty, you really should. That was an amazing game. I played it like everyday all day until everyone starting duping cards and cheating :'(

If you do revisit it, it would be cool if you had like 15 levels or something, and make some kind of anti-cheating thing.

If you don't know, you could dupe cards by loggin into the same account but with different capitalization, then losing to yourself..

I didn't think that the idea itself was that amazing but the multiplayer gameplay just brought it to life. If you revisit it be sure expand the game play further. Make it more challenging.

Well the answer is no basically. I will probably get around to fixing some minor bugs like the cheats, but the game was hugely underapreciated so I don't think it would be best use of my time to continue upgrading it. You never know though :)

PS: $750 is relatively cheap I guess. I'm suprised actually.

Ha ha, people act like NG owes them something. Your game was on fp for a long time, and the only reason it didn't blast off was because of things that were all within YOUR control.

It's a project you should have done out of love for NG, not for fame and recognition.

Love is so overrated these days.

its funny cuz its true. Most things are for recognition nowadays aren't they?
Well.. maybe half and half, i know that originally when i wrote my story (exile) it was like "this is a good story i must animate it because it'd be fun!" more of a project for me, now its kinda mixed with the recognition thing.
