Well, TheCriminalDuder died. Uh, fucking God has a Newgrounds account and is preaching to us. Which is Britishmoose's alt. In reality, it's Luis's alt. Uh.... That's about it.

Not much has been going on.

Funny Mailing List Accident

I'm signed up for a mailing list called Flashcoders.

A mailing list are like forums except in mails, if you didn't know.

Anyway, someone who was subscribed to the list went away (on vacation or something) and put his auto-responder on (I think anyway, it was in russian...) so he would auto-respond to any mail sent to him. This is what happened then. Someone posts a question. Since it's a mailing list the question gets sent over to everyone subscribing, including this russian fella. And what do you think happens next? Yeah, his auto-responder responds to that mail which then gets send to every subscriber.

Here's the funny part. Ok, so everyone get that auto-responder message, everyone on the mailing list, including him! So he gets back his auto-responder message which then auto-responds yet again.

The list admin has unsubscribed him now but I've got around 1000+ mails from him in my inbox. Oh well.

o- anything vintage, i think part of understanding animation involves being in touch with its early beginnings and evolution over time. I may be biased in saying that though cause im an art history buff... well i used to be anyway. If I had to mention names i'd say old popeye, looney tunes even, and actually Disneys Snow White is a good example of roto in its early incarnation

Soft-body physics

Umm... this shit isn't easy. I'm on vacation right now and i'm busting my balls trying to wrap my head around the math. I've got a cute idea I think could actually go somewhere. And it's so funny how i came up with the idea for it: telling my girlfriend a bedtime story, lol.

Soft-body physics

Ask someone like Delta if you need help.

I did actually make a soft body engine but I never got round to improving it, fixing it so it runs better and
finally adding gravity.

Alias change

Maybe some of you recalls my posts a few months back where I said that I wasn't satisfied with my alias, the reason being the major lack of originality to it. I came to the conclusion though that the admins probably wouldn't be able to change it for me, and creating a brand new account was out of question.

Then, a while after that, I arranged my intro contest and so it happens that when I look at the latest news post of the one who grabbed the third place, vato, he had just gotten his alias changed from volit0 or something. So there I was, I had just found out that it indeed was possible for me to change my alias, but I had just finished a competition in which I had gotten several awesome intros saying "DreamworX".

I simply didn't have the heart to change my alias after that, or at least so soon. Now I've gotten into contact with Tom though, through danomano65, and he has granted me the opportunity to change my alias :)

Now, my problem is this: The only alias that I have in mind that isn't already taken might sound like something really random (=bad), while it's actually not (it's my "IRL nickname" directly followed by the first later of my last name). I am already using it on a few Swedish sites, but I simply don't think it will work as good for English/American ones. Here it is, let me know what you think (is it "random", might I get mistaken for a n00b? :P ) : ercij

I know that the most important thing about an alias is that I like it, and I do and I think that I will go for that unless you guys think it's very bad. Be honest plz ;)

Yeah, truthfully I think it sounds a little noobish, and you just won't be you. I think I might like it better if it was just Erci because then it wouldn't be so random.

But if this helps at all, my username is the worst so no matter what, you'll always be better than me (unless I can change my username...hmm...Can you pm me on what to do so that I could change it?)

Yeah, Erci is taken though :/

Well, I am talking with Tom through danomano65 who has him on AIM. Before that I sent a PM to Wade, but like all the other times I've contacted him he didn't get back to me..

Jercie? Maybe englishize it.

You should keep dreamworx...how is it really a noob alias? For the most part anything without numbers isn't a noob alias, except maybe thealmightyruler...

I don't think it's noob really, I just hate myself for basing my alias so strongly on one of the biggest animation companies out there. I want something more personal.

"SwedenDude"
"TidaholmWarrior"
"SuperiorMale"

Yeah, there's plenty of free, cool-sounding, names for you to pick.

On a totally unrelated note, I just finished all 24 levels of Dirk Valentine after 2 days of playing.

To be honest, you make your own name. DreamworX sounds like a noob to me because it's unoriginal. Just like schorhr would probably sound like a noob to anyone other than myself but he made a name for himself just like you did. No matter what you choose, so long as you make that name a big deal, it will be. Hell, Deathcon7 sounds like a noob name to me but i leave it as it is because i really don't care what it sounds like so long as people know who it is.

Response to The Flash 'Reg' Lounge 2008-06-17 16:59:29

If you went with Deathcon, they might let you take it, since the guy has been inactive ever since he made the account. I remember when I changed my name from fuhQ2, it was because like President, Presidente, etc. were all taken names, but I feel like now that I've met Tom and he knows kind of who I am and my NG account name, it wouldn't really be worth switching it. I'm happy I don't have numbers, but the dash makes it kind of fun. I just wish there wasn't a Mike, or I'd so take that.

I actually asked Tom this, as many of the names that I considered were taken years ago and has been inactive since. It seems like it's possible, but he would prefer it if I took an already available name.

I think I have name now btw, it's available and I like it :) The only thing that makes me doubt is the fact that all the good domains are taken (for my portfolio, that I will hopefully make eventually :P). Oh well..

Yeah, I guess an explanation is in order:

Kungen = the king in Swedish, and since he apparently is dyslectic a jokingly way of referring to him is knugen. And that's that :)
