Just went to the mall and got MGS4, I'm so excited. Which reminds me...

Dining by ones self

I find it awkward. After I bought MGS4, I decided to grab a bite to eat. Whilst consuming what seemed to be a donut crossed between an unborn cat, I found people were staring at me. What, is it illegal to eat alone?

Also, Konami ID = Fail

Hehe, loser :P

I hate having to eat alone when waiting for a train or whatever. I figure that if I keep moving around then people won't notice.

RE: Dining alone

Weird, i actually enjoy dining alone once in awhile... i did it last night. Whenever I dine with someone I always feel that sort of tension where each of us wants the other to shutup so we can just savor the food. I dunno maybe I just think too deeply into it. But dining alone its sort of like ratatouille where that rat sits there and really savors each bite and thinks about the mixtures and different flavors of things. The restaurant i went to was terrible though... it drives me nuts when they either have never heard of basic cocktails or they dont mix them exactly how i requested it... why should i even bother giving explicit directions if they are not going to listen to me? Why am i even paying for the drink if they arent going to do it how i want it done. I asked for an 1800 Margarita with a dash of Gran Marnier... they used regular cheap tequila, they didnt use any grand marnier and they didnt even salt the rim. it just really drives me crazy. YES IM A DIVA about some shit... deal with it.

I heard 16k also, so me thinks it is true, I'm not sure if it is a ridiculous sum though. It is a very well made game, and depending on the click through rates to armorgames and the overall traffic the game sees, it think it could pay back. I mean, it must be able to pay back right, otherwise why would they have made the deal?

Begin discussion on how sponsors make money back from sponsoring games for hundreds and thousands.

16k seems more reasonable now than it would have a year ago. Armorgames is doing really well, and in return is offering larger and larger sponsorships. Even though they make a lot of money off of click through rates, the sponsorship is more than the average person could make through putting ads for their own website in it (but do both, and you split the difference). Armorgames has the advantage cause they have a continual stream of games going in to their site. It's not any one game that causes them to be so popular, its the fact that there's tons of quality games going up there every day.

But at least they're considerate enough to raise the value of their sponsorships over time. If they weren't, then $1000 might have still been the norm for something like that.

I got $1200 for magnetism 2 and at the time is was a HUGE sponsorship (armorgames was a lot smaller), but now a tiny minigame could make that much.

But hey, it benefits the little people so that's what matters.

I've seen MochiAds pay about $50,000 for one game.

(Of course, it was Protector, with over 60 million hits, but still)

Calling all you animators etc.

Just thought I'd throw this in. Its basically open to all digital artists and if 16 people are chosen. You post your portfolio and a short video of yourself, or I think you can just do a picture, and then if you're selected you go to New York to take part in a new show for MTV with the winner getting $400,000 (I think). Just thought seeing as a lot of you are some of the best there is to offer you might be in with a chance. So if you're over 18 and an animator then get going :P

Actually, an average CPM of less than $1 isn't that spectacular. I've just started using NG ads, but I wouldn't aim for any less than $1,000 for every million views. Right now my average CPM for my last game is about $1.40.

Speaking of which, does anyone have any advice on how to publicise games? I really need all the money I can get to go to uni - all of my family's income's being drained by a big ass mortgage so I simultaneously can't get any help from parents but don't qualify for any additional support.

That really sucks, it's my exact situation.

I think it's bullshit how the government just decides if you qualify for financial support based on income statistics, there's a lot of other deciding factors that can prevent your parents from funding you. For example I don't qualify for any support because my parents combined income is over $30k, however when you have a large family like mine pretty much all of that goes on essentials and savings.

They ask about expenses when you apply though.

I didn't get much support because I have a trust fund that's definitely not going to last me all 4 years, but it's significant enough that they didn't offer me much

Sorry if this is considered spam, but I'm developing a game with a complex editor and I'm looking for people to develop some levels while it's in its early stages. I was advised that not too many people would notice or care in the Flash forum, since most of the viewers are just new authors seeking help or collabs. So I figured, hey Flash reg lounge, that can't be just new people, and maybe they'd be interested in helping.

So here's the link: http://www.kongregate.com/forums/3/topic s/11285

If this is against the rules, just go ahead and delete it.

Ha, good luck, pico blast has 4.3 mil views and is only now reaching $1,000. The NG ad performance has dropped off severely. I dunno why, but my guess is because of the vast number of people using them now.

Publicizing Games
I have a list of ~50 game sites submission URLs (including details on submission specs) that pretty much guarantees your game will get spread to every gaming site out there. PM me if you want it.

Holy moly, and for 60mil views that's a great payout...

My ecpm is .36 for unique...but that might be because it's not spread so much.
