I'm sorry what's that? Hezbollah's stated goal: To wipe Israel off the map. Hmm I still see Israel on the map. It's very much there. I wouldn't call it a victory for either side. Both sides made small achievements. Lebanon is the only one that lost.

Israel is bad, of course people would think that, they don't screw around with countries that are threatening them. They go in, get the job done, and try to save as many of their own people as they can. Israel has tried to coexist with its muslim neighbors for many years, but radical groups such as hesbollah disrupt anys such peace process.

i'm not trying to bash Israel's abitlity to take back hostages etc. i simply find it odd that even though the event that sparked this war was the kidnapping, it was not a main objective for this conflict. (was it an objective at all?)

The main objective was to protect its people. After the soldiers were kidnapped, Israel sent some troops to try and rescue them. Once Hezbollah started with the barrages of rockets, Israel knew it had to use more force, not just to retrieve the two soldiers, but to protect its own people from the rockets. So Hezbollah sparked the situation witht the kidnapping, and then exploaded the situation with the rockets and threats to wipe Israel off the map.

Look Israel has to be aggresive and i understand that but you cant fight terrorist by moving in heavy armored divisions and striking with missiles its like striking at smoke the terrorist leave and innocents die. Not that isreal gives a shit on how many innocents die in lebanon if they wanted to fight terrorists then they need to go and use their very well trained special forces that have the discretion to kill the terrorists and leave ost innocents alone. By fighting hesbollah on the terms which they predicted you too do b4 this shit even started you have only enabled them to legitimize themselves and gain power not lose it. Israel has no care for anyone else. Yes, but unfortunately they never got the soldiers back. At least it shows that Israel won’t do prisoner exchanges with terrorists anymore (at least I hope that will be the policy from now on).

Still, good came from the war as now U.N. and Lebanon troops will be at the border instead of exclusively Hezbollah (though unfortunately not excluding Hezbollah, it seems).
