Spamwarriors usual rant. 2006-04-18 09:30:50

Why do we help people that are incapable of helping themselves? Why do we spoon our energy into helping people finding out about google and the stickies.

These people clearly lack the drive it takes, cos these things are FUCKING SIMPLE. Why bother help these people, when they will clearly amount to nothing much.

Please, if i'm wrong, and some of these people make it big time, point and laugh at me, gladly i'll take the humiliation of being so wrong.

I couldnt possibly give a flying fuck if these people are kids. Kids should have the energy to search through some web pages.

I'd give more respect if they didnt know what words meant. I'm sure none of us here no what every single music related word could mean, ie, what a particular thing on a synth in reason does, or what a musical term means, thats fine, thats usual ignorance based on lack of knowledge.

I cant be havin with this ignorance based on lack of thinking tho, this is just lazyness and we are encouraging it.

iTards.

Yep - just hang with me for a moment,

Genx - that's me - then we have GenY - why? because that's what comes after "X" genY also known as echo-boomers. I used to think that the GenY crowd were some of the most incompetent and helpless shite-for-brained things around... Oh how wrong I was...

Slightly overlapping echo-boomers are the newest social creation - those that I like to call "iTards"

These are kids that have grown up (oxymoron) in an on-demand world.

These are kids who don't need to learn anything - ever - because they don't need to take tests in school - because their mommies and daddies will SUE if someone fails their precious little angel

They have learned that there is absolutely NO incentive to try anything new or do anything for themselves - it's easier to make demands and then stomp their little feet when they don't get fast enough service.

They want it - RIGHT NOW - and they certainly wouldn't want to waste the time learning how to do anything or figuring out how to be self reliant.

Like I said in some other thread - they all just want a copy (for free by the way) of TotalMusicPwnage 2.5.

Two buttons on their life - easy as clicking one or the other:
<steal software>
<instantly create cool music>

Neither button requires any effort...

shit.... sorry spam, this was supposed to be your rant...

By all means join in. I nominate a system where new members are banned from creating new topics for 2 days after opening, so that in a trial period they can learn some sense, and etiquette. Its already too easy if you are smart enough, the informations all there. You can find ANYTHING on the interweb.

worng ljcoffee. you're talkin' about gen z. i'm from gen y. gen z are the 13-15 year olds on this site. gen y are the people born in 1984 - 1985. anybody born after that is gen z. 1984 was a special year 'cause the cosmos were aligned perfectly for everything good to come and in 1985 the final pieces were put in place. i was born in 1984 and believe me i shouldn't be able to do what i do but i am able to. it's hard to explain without goin' in depth but that's really what it is. and after gen z the world will end. glad i'm in y. we get saved. z gets wasted. x goes to hell. we're special.

OK - I'm worng.

Those (gen z'ers) are exactly who I'm calling iTards. Obviously, nobody can say that 100% of the people that are classified as this gen or that will conform to that generations ideals and trends - but if you took the average age of all of the "What free softwarze is the best" "what yoo guyz use to mak moosic" and "lissen to my best song ever" topic posters where do you suppose that would land on the scale?

Smack dab in iTard and late genY land - that's where.

it's cool though - because the only thing that's keeping the X'ers from eating all of the younger genrations are the damn Boomers that still hold office
- and they're a dying breed ...

rubs hands together with a feral look in his eyes

I hate the "iTards" of our generation- I make it a point to try not to associate with people that listen to TV or rap or what have you and just spout it back-

God, I hate teenagers.

So many people- if I had 24 hours to do whatever I wanted without repercussions, we'd be missing about 3/4 our school population.

With each process, from learning how to use computers, to learning how to make music, requires a common sense, or a technical sense, that isn't natural.

We show people how to do things in order to get the results they want, from getting help, to finding threads, to making songs, in return, they become fully efficient members of the musical community. Yes, they do learn.

Most of the people that come here to make music, are young, very young, and are computer illiterate, mix that with wanting to become music literate.

If you haven't seen this magic happen, obviously you don't stick around long enough to see it.

I have no tolerance of stupid people, so of course, i'm permanently angry, specially when i'm sat on my own. But anyway.

I just find it incredibly obtuse.

In another thread some absolute twat came in asking for sfx again, and this isnt what made him the absolute twat.

Its that someone tried helping, and his response was to call them names and bitch cos it wasnt the sounds they wanted. Thats why hes a prick. And even better, the guy he shot down for no good reason started helping him.

Good people need whipping into looking after themselves. There is such a thing as respect, people.

I feel my bad mood is justified.

Response to Spamwarriors usual rant. 2006-04-18 14:28:38

That also elaborates into a problem I tried to discuss that was pushed aside, if the regulars can't take after newbies properly, it destructs part of the purpose of the audio forum that makes us so good.

The fact is, it isn't their fault for being "stupid", maybe it is their intention to blast regulars, but these motives can be easily corrected with the right word usage. It isn't about obediance or dominance, they must be good listeners if they ask for technical help.

Yeah sure erkie, i'll agree with you on that. TECHNICAL help.

NOT, i repeat, NOT

WHAT PROGZ DO YOUZ GUYZ YOUZ TO MAKEZ THEZ MUZICZ.

or WHERE CAN I FIND SOUND EFFECTS.

It should be a test. If you cannot read something at the top of the forum, you are ignored until you go away.

i mean jesus fucking christ, everyone has heard of google, surely. Its the biggest thing on the internet. In terms of status, they're the kings of the information superhighway.

and anything google cant tell you, wikipedia probably can.

I get the feeling people are disagreeing with me just to see what other insults i come up with. Hint: the next one will be something involving jackdaw.

I'm attempting to reason, but you just keep pulling out the same point.

I agree, they spell horribly and they don't know how to do anything, but that can be changed, most of the time, you answer a question or two and then they're gone, we have so many references to audio in this forum that every FAQ is answered.

The point is, as much as you hate it, the more you handle it irrationally, the worse the results will be.

sorry erkie somehow missed getting this particular post.

Yes, you're entirely right in this case. But if someone cannot read the sticky, the very thing that says "NEW TO AUDIO, READ THIS FIRST?"

I have no idea what you are implying in this, i just fail to see the need to mollycoddle people who clearly cannot be arsed putting the effort in and want someone else to do all the fucking work. I mean clearly, at the top of the page

NEW TO AUDIO? READ THIS FIRST

i mean the stickys are there for a reason. And in my opinion that reason is/should be a test, if you cant be arsed reading, you have no motivation so shouldnt even bother trying to make music. You should just leave, and find another hobby.

You seem to be missing my point.

Why should we help them, when they cant read something that is clearly to their benefit. Where is the drive, where is the passion to learn.

I bet some of them keep coming back for more help, and more. And whilst its nice to help people, is it what people need in this case.

Response to Spamwarriors usual rant. 2006-04-18 15:28:26

It's the internet, you're not going to be able to see what kind of person they are, or how smart they are, or what their drive is on first impression.

They wouldn't ask the question if they weren't willing to learn. They embrace the process, and adhere to whatever you point out. If you post links, you tell them where you found them, and they'll do the same. If you search an item, you tell them how to search for it, and they'll do the same.

If they blast regulars for not getting what they wanted, those are expectations, and again, can be corrected.

People are judged by their actions.

To me, and to many other people, someone who has to ask for advice of this nature when the answer is already on the front page can be said to be lacking drive. If the fire was within them they'd be searching high and low on google to learn what they want to know, THEN come here to ask questions when they get stuck.

But this isnt about serious questions, this for me is all about that same one issue really.

yet again, i'll state, if they cant be arsed looking, why should we point them in the right direction.

Or perhaps the people who disagree with me would have acted in the same way, or did, and this is why they are disagreeing with my view?

OK, i'll attack this from the reverse angle. The people who DONT come in and ask the same stupid question which is always asked, are they to be respected less than those that refuse to read A STICKY WHICH IS THERE FOR THERE OWN BENEFIT, AND WAS MADE TO ANSWER THE QUESTION.

THE QUESTION THAT WAS ASKED SO OFTEN, THAT PEOPLE GOT PISSED OFF AND MADE THE STICKY?

*cracks knuckles*

Ok Spams, I see exactly what you are saying, and I used to feel the same way you did; however, I realized, these people are most of the time, as Erkie said, very very young, not too computer literate, and wanting to be musically literate. I'm not sure about you, but I was fortunate enough to have a computer growing up, I've had a computer since I was a wee lad, from an Apple IIc to 486DX2 to P3 to my athlon64X2. I tried out everything I could on computeres until there was nothing left and I could learn no more, I guess being a Gen Y, and having no resources available helps you to do it yourself. But these kids are growing up in this magical land where you snap your fingers and your tv gives you lyrics to songs or a scheduled tv show appears and listens to your every command. They didn't grow up like us, and that appeals very very strongly to every kid's desire to be treated like #1.

The stickies are right there on top, and very visible. There's really no excuse for not clicking on those, but sometimes they might just want some human interaction. They want attention, someone listening to their question, and then directly responding to it. They're testing the waters, seeing how the people are here, and of course when we pull out the dictionary to see if there are any new insults we can slew at them, they find it to be a very piss filled pool and go somewhere else.

I'm just saying that it's not so much of a harsh crime to see these things. I don't think we're encouraging lazyness... I don't know about you but my parents always told me to ask questions when I want to know something. If I see someone ask a question, why am I going to be a dick? By asking a question, they are displaying an effort and interest to learn. That's a fundamental we're taught very early on as children. By ignoring it, or being assholes, we're only manifesting malintent, and I don't ever see that as a good thing. It's funny, definitely, to see a n00b get pwnt by a regular here, but I always think it's mean unless they really deserved it. Also, by helping people out, we encourage proper etiquette on forums, and people learn how to behave on here. I pretty much agree with everything Erkie had to say.

Response to Spamwarriors usual rant. 2006-04-18 17:32:49

OK ac, well this is it. Society has to come to this that people snap their fingers and want someone else to run in with something in front of them. Just because society is this way doesnt mean the majority are correct.

Anyway, yes, i agree, asking for help is not a crime. But in my opinon, asking WHAT IS THE BEST PROGRAMME FOR MAKING TEH MUSIC IS

WHEN THERE IS A FUCKING STICKY IS. ITS JUST PLAIN STUPIDITY, WHICH EVOLUTION HAS SOMEHOW TOLERATED.

no anger at you ac, just at stupid people.

Response to Spamwarriors usual rant. 2006-04-18 18:06:25

So Erkie, basically its a matter of who gets to them first. I get to them, i'm gonna grill them so hard, they'll either get angry and it'll motivate them nicely, or they'll crack and piss off forever. Either is good by me.

Musicians need to be strong, the business is a fucking bitch. The musician is always ALWAYS under the chance of getting screwed by someone... agent, promoter, venue owner, record labels, studio owners.

Strong people will achieve results without taking any shit off people. Weak people will take the shit and make people think its easy, so it'll keep happening.

Notice how i'm not bringing talent into this.

You get there first and you can take them in, and encourage them to be immature and not stand on their own two feet. And then the scumbags who like to prey on the weak will reap the benefits.

I get to them, i'm gonna grill them so hard, they'll either get angry and it'll motivate them nicely, or they'll crack and piss off forever.

Here is the interest part, how you conduct yourself to these people isn't necessarily intelligent, you purposefully alienate and insult their motives just so you can determine if they're good or bad, which is probably the most inefficient way to introduce newcomers into the world of music, that is simply ignorant first judgement.

If musicians are individuals, they shouldn't be treated this way, they should be allowed to determine on their own if they suck or not, which should only take somewhere around half a day instead of carrying out a week long flame war and a potential banment.

I thought i'd answered this, but. In terms of my conduct, i am in the right. I have people that agree with me on this, so i'm not just being a lone psychopath.

Its not ignorant first judgement. Its well judged first judgement.

I love how you're setting this up to make it look as tho i love myself. Erkie, become a lawyer, become an accountant, become a shrink, you could make millions manipulating people with absolute waffle.

This isnt even relevant. At this point they are not yet musicians. They are not even rational human beings that think, oh look, lets read the thing that is here for new people to read.

And as for being banned, i'd take a banning on this subject with pride. FOR I AM IN THE RIGHT.

erkie, kindly stop sucking up to the world.
