They made a lot of good music back in the 90's, but now they suck!

I saw ATR with The Devil Wears Prada and Story of the Year. They easier performed the best there and I thought they were amazing. It was about two years ago though and they were playing a lot of songs from The Fall of Ideals. I thought they great though. :)

I've never listened to older music from In Flames but I don't like any of their recent stuff.

So when he stepped up behind my bro to take a cheap shot when he was watching the show I delivers a nice little 3 shot combo and sat him straight on his ass. Other than those two instances the whole day at Rockfest went awesome and smooth.

I can't believe, no matter how many shows I've been to, that some people feel the need to try to injure others during a fucking concert...

ATR was fucking great at Rockfest very brutal Moshpit we had going. Its funny you bring up In Flames because they are coming to town and I was saying to my buddy that they suck now but there early shit was beasty. :P

It sucks that they've drowned so deep into mallcore... Now, they are just a pale shadow of what they used to be.

Sad but true, the even sadder thing is you see it happen to so many good bands. Avenged Sevenfold early shit was way harder than anything they put out now and I just don't really listen to them much now. I hate that some artists feel that if they don't fold to more mainstream sounding albums then they will never make it. I have faith they will it might just take time. A band to use as an example is Muse. They were around a long time and just recently got bigger in Mainstream. I don't listen to much of there stuff but it sounds pretty much the same as there older stuff. They stuck with there music and made it in time instead of compromising there personal sound for the chance to be mainstream. Its what is killing music.

The following pertains to the section I wrote above. its from avid Draimen on Disturbed's indefinite Hiatus.

"The absolute truth is we've been touring nonstop-make a record, tour, make a record, tour for 12 years straight, and it hasn't afforded us the opportunity to do anything else as artists and individuals," he says. "Our entire world has always been encompassed by Disturbed."

First and foremost, he insists there are no strained relationships within the band. "I want to make it very clear that it is absolutely, unequivocally not due to any animosity between band members because there is none," he says. "I just had dinner with everybody for [guitarist] Danny Donegan's birthday the other night. We had a great time. Danny and Mike [Wengren, drums] are standing up at my wedding, for God's sake. There's no animosity whatsoever. These guys are my brothers and we have a tremendous love and admiration for each other and this hiatus has nothing to do with any perceived or conceived infighting between the band members."

"The state of the music industry is very apparent to everyone," he says. "I'm not enlightening anyone by saying that it is in a state of decline. I'm not enlightening anyone by saying it is in a state of reformation and it needs to figure itself out again. It's just a very difficult time to function as a musician within the music industry when personnel are lost left and right and people you've counted on for years are suddenly cast by the wayside. People are much more concerned with how the company looks on a balance sheet to a potential buyer as opposed to concerning themselves primarily with things like artist development. That's definitely a factor in why we chose to do this indefinite hiatus now. If things were gangbusters in the industry it would be much more difficult to turn away for a little while and concentrate on other things we'd like to do. It would be cutting off our nose to spite our face. Where things go with any of us in our own individual projects during this hiatus will determine how long it lasts or if it is, in fact, indefinite."

I saw Volbeat live at Download 2010 and I can't say I liked them. I don't know if it was mainly because the sound guy had buggered up the levels or just there general sound but they didn't really make a great impression.

Has anybody here heard the latest A Plea For Purging album? I normally would hate their music, but the latest is really good. It has some of the best production I've ever heard in any metalcore album.

All That Remains alone, make me want to listen to Metalcore again. This morning at 7 AM before going to sleep I placed my iPod on shuffle mode and ended up listenning to the track The Air That I Breathe from their album The Fall Of Ideals. I can't help but say that some metalcore bands really know how to get shit done. I will even go as far as saying that this is one of my favorite albums of all time.

I have to admit though, that their first effort really isn't my favorite. It's okay I guess, but I didn't love it. Maybe I would like it better today because I do remember there was great moments on this record and that it was closer to Melodic Death Metal back then, compared to what they evolved into.

Behind Silence And Solitude
From These Wounds

Their second album This Darkened Heart is a masterpiece. This is where All That Remains really found their sound.

And Death In My Arms
Focus Shall Not Fail

Then they released a more accessible record, one with more clean vocals, clean melodies, but without any less energy, without any less All That Remains unique sound. The album The Fall Of Ideals to me is a masterpiece, maybe even more than This Darkened Heart. If there is one album with very memorable tracks, different emotions, diversified riffs and incredibly good drumming, it's this one.

Whispers (I Hear You)
The Air That I Breathe

Problem is that they kind of went downhill since then. On Overcome they had a different producer, the sound production sounded weird and didn't fit their personnality. The vocals didn't even sound like it was Phil Labonté singing them... Something wrong happenned on this record... The music was all poppy, they followed the cute-core fashion of the time and kind of failed to retain anything that made they good. Well, I shouldn't say "anything" because they still have some sweet riffs on that album and decent or good tracks, but as a whole, it's not as memorable as their previous two albums. In fact, it is rather forgettable.

Before The Damned
Chiron

And their last album? I dunno... They sound like they are trying to be August Burns Red. They chug all the time, and they sound like any mediocre metalcore band. Well, not exactly. They still have some very epic riffs with the All That Remains feel. But in general I feel that this effort is even worst then Overcome. I heard one track on the record that really catched my attention and that I liked... Can't remember which one it was though... I have to admit that I didn't give it much of a listen as I didn't really like what I heard. Maybe I should give it another spin...

Times Of Grace - Worlds Apart

I think I've mentioned these guys in here before, or maybe not? Anyway. Amazing progressive metalcore band! Times of Grace is seriously one of these bands that manages to push a genre further. This was started as a side-project of members of... Killswitch Engage, if I remember correctly. And it's just as good, if not better then what KE writes. I love it!

listened to that band a lot a few years ago. killswitch engage is also one of my favorite bands. on their debut album, alive or just breathing, Jesse Leach's screams are insane, i think it actually did some harm to him but those vocals are really intense, and i think that album is a masterpiece overall. he still sounds good though. he recently returned to killswitch engage, their new album with him is pretty good.

I've never heard the early material of Killswitch Engage. I might have to look into it somewhere in the near future.

I got into Korn when I was like 9 years old and they were my favorite band then. I got Follow the Leader for my birthday. I still listen to that on a rare occasion along with a few certain songs from their self titled, Issues and the Untouchables.

The metal thread seems to look down on them. Was curious if GWAR would fit in better here?
