Anyone heard KSE's version of Holy Diver (by Dio). I think its rather cool, worth checking out.

I had a listen to that song just now and I don't like it. It's just how the voice sounds a bit normal at first and a bit later, it goes oto the metalcore vocals. I prefer the original version of Holy Diver.

Its a valid point. I think the vocals at the end are good though.
Still, the thing I like the most is they way they take a classic heavy metal song and put it into a metalcore style, yet still keep somewhat true to the original. So I give them kudos for that.

Okay, fair enough, but still... like metal hell is active all the time... is like their stuff THAT much more popular than nu-metal and metalcore? Cause I mean, I like all kinds odf metal, but almost everyone I know is a nu-metal/metalcore fan(including myself).

Not commercially popular, there just seems to be metal fans on NG than fans of Nu-Metal/Metalcore.

Cause I mean, I like all kinds odf metal, but almost everyone I know is a nu-metal/metalcore fan(including myself).

I know what you mean, all my friends listen to Slipknot, Stone Sour, Il Nino, Trivium, Korn, KSE. Stuff like that. So theres an abundance of Nu Metal/Metalcore fans. I think that most people are just embarrassed to be part of a club that labels them as Nu Metallers. Its seen as somewhat of a negative thing.

Thats my theory anyway.

It may also have to do with the fact that people think nu-metal is only like rap metal and stuff and see metal in general as most bands they like without knowing ahead of time that theyre
nu-metal... sure, there are alot of slipknot fans here, the slipknot club is huge, but some may not think slipknot are nu-metal... that's another theory, but then again, theories are just theories.

I would like to join this fine establishment :)

Metalcore:
KillSwitch Engage
Trivium
Lamb Of God
Bullet For My Vallentine
As I Lay Dying
Still Remains
Atreyu (Some of thier stuff)
Chimaira

Nu Metal:
Not really into this genre..erm...Deftones I guess..If they count as Nu metal, maybe you guys could show me some good shit =/

Am I in?

Response to Nu-Metal/Metalcore Crew 2006-08-07 11:30:02

All newcomers are very much welcome.

I heard the Dio cover for three days straight at the studio. My boss kept playing it and playing it. Admittedly, I did enjoy it :)

And im pretty sure everyone knows my take on the nu-metal versuses metal thing. I'm a firm believer in nu-metal being worthy of the "metal" title, but it seems that my opinion isn't shared by (m)any of the swell fellows at metal hell. I don't really mind. It's their hangup ;)

Also, All Shall Perish have a new album out, or should have it out soon. I'm not sure. I think the copy I accquired is an advance copy. Fuck it's good. Sweep guitar picking all over the place ;D

Hmm, just a question to you all. Are BFMV also an emocore/emo band? I just saw some info about them and the genre said emocore. I know they're metalcore, but emocore? Not too sure about that. It's just my friends have got into BFMV now.

At 8/7/06 11:33 AM, -Nev- wrote: System of a Down you like don't you? They're Nu Metal.

Nah, I wouldn't say they're nu metal. Alternative metal, I guess, but nu metal, nope. I wouldn't say SOAD are nu metal.

Does emocore even exist? I thought it was just a way to insult a band you didn't like because they look a bit emoy.

Nah, I wouldn't say they're nu metal. Alternative metal, I guess, but nu metal, nope. I wouldn't say SOAD are nu metal.

The few three albums are so Nu-Metal.

It's true they have emo elements to their music, but I wouldn't just cut them off as emo because they also share metal elements to their music too.

That's the reason I did'nt say them :)

Great list although i'd consider some of that stuff more metal than metalcore but its still a great list... I saw As I Lay Dying, Trivium, and Still Remains last month... All were great, i also met Jordan Whelan of Still Remains, he's really cool and really nice...

Hahaha... There is no such thing as emocore... The idea of emocore is found in the screamo... Emocore would be the hardcore version of emo which is in reality screamo...

I know i've been posting here as a Metalcore fan and i realize this is the Nu-Metal/Metalcore crew so i've been looking into some Nu-Metal and here are some bands i like:

American Head Charge
Disturbed (i liked them before, i didn't know they were Nu-Metal till a few weeks ago)
Dog Fashion Disco (big fan now)
Dope
Downset
Earshot
Ill Nino (i'm a big fan now)
Korn (i liked them before)
Motorgrater
Mudvayne
Murder Dolls
Mushroomhead
Skrape
Slipknot (i liked them before, and i'm seeing them in a few days, i think)
Snot
Soil
Soulfly
Speak No Evil
Spineshank
Static-X
Stone Sour
System of a Down (i liked them before)
Systematic
Ultraspank
V Shaped Mind
Vision of Disorder
White Zombie

My favorite is a band called Flaw, if you haven't heard of them i'd recommend checking out the song Payback... Heres a little random fact, the lead singer of Flaw is trained in Opera singing, which is what i think really puts them apart from other Nu-Metal bands...

At 8/17/06 08:11 AM, pvt_Snail wrote: Apocalyptica

I've only heard the Metallica songs they did, but they were very impressive.

Arch Enemy

Checked out a few songs, but only listened once. Nevertheless I found them good.

Blind Guardian

Love so much. My current favourite band :D.

Children of Bodom

Don't like at all... well not at all. But the vocals annoy me a lot.

Chimaira

Not fussed on, not awful though.

Devildriver

Heard one song (I Could Care Less) and its okay.

Dimmu Borgir

I like the older stuff.

Disturbed

Alright.

Dragonforce

Orgasmatasm - seeing them twice in December :D. And saw them once at Download in June :D

Fear Factory

They bore me.

Finntroll

Brilliant :D.

HIM

I like Buried Alive By Love. Otherwise I'm not too fussed.

Iced Earth

I have songs by them but I've never listened. I'll need to get round to it.

In Flames

Like a lot. I could of seen them at Download... well I did see them. But I sat on a hill. I wished I'd gone in the crowd.

Kataklysm

Love. Favourite death metal band.

Killswitch Engage

Like a lot too.

KoRn

I like a few songs.

Manowar

Bore me.

Mastodon

Like, not listened for a while though.

Mötley Crüe

Not bad.

Motörhead

Only heard Ace of Spades, but thats a classic.

Napalm Death

Not too keen.

Nightwish

Alright, not that big a fan.

Opeth

Luff. Seeing them in November and saw 'em at Downliddles :D. Love, love, love.

Pantera

I've gone off them as of late. Anselmo's voice pisses me off.

Queens of the Stone Age

Alright.

Rammstein

Snazzy.

Sepultura

Like a lot.

Slipknot

I like the Iowa stuff. The new stuff is a bit shit.

System of a Down

One of my favourite bands. Although I've not listened to them much recently.

Offspring

Pop punk isn't my thing. But they have some cool songs.

Union Underground

I heard one song and liked it. No further interest though.

Trivium

Not bad. You're kind of forced to hate them though. And I dislike Matt Heafy a lot.
