Welcome to the Barracks! I'm the Barracks Recruitment Officer, Supreme Commander Slash Firestorm. It's my job to examine new prospective recruits and see if they've got what it takes to join the EGB.

Let me explain how the recruitment process works.

Currently you are in "Standby Status" while your case is considered. During this process, me and the other Barracks members will take a look at your record---posting quality, review history/quality, flash record, etc---and see if there are any problems.

Don't worry, we're not too strict about these things; we just want to make sure that you have a decent posting record (not too many one-liners and no flaming/spamming), don't make abusive reviews or rulebreaking flash, etc..

After a period of discussion amongst the Barracks members, I will make the final call. Assuming that no objections are raised, this Standby Status should only last approximately 24 hours. I will PM you with the final verdict.

Barracks members can go the appropriate thread for discussion. Remember that you must be logged in to view/vote/post, and speak now or forever hold your peace.

P.S. I just noticed I have more than three times as many blams as I do saves and I am not a downvoter. Most of these votes were from years ago. Shows how much more % of crap was released to the portal back then.

Believe me, having more blams than saves is not going to hurt your chances, lol.

Do you think it is easier to get alot of B/P if you're from the U.S.?

And also I've got a suspicion that you get more blams if you live in the U.S. because more shit gets submitted at prime time, right or wrong?

I can't speak for anybody else but for the past week since I became active in the portal i've gotten about even with saves as blams with about 30 each so it does seem easier for me to get alot of blams.

I looked on Google but haven't had any luck finding an original source of the game, but I'm not convinced that it's the submitter's work. I haven't flagged the submission because I have no proof that the game is stolen, so if you would help me look for an original source then we can act accordingly. Until then, rate it as you would if you had no suspicion it was stolen.

You're allowed to share your opinion on any Flash that may break the Portal guidelines. Just make sure you have proof before you flag it or post about it anywhere.

Yes the new layout is great. To be honest, I got tired of the last one long ago, and finally it's changed. The old one was good, but not as good as the standard one. And this with the golden tank is cool. I hope this doesn't stay here until March 6th, I suppose it would get boring after a while.

It depends on where you live. I'm sure that the eastern part of the Brazil enjoys a lot of what I enjoy B/P wise, since they're in the Eastern Time Zone (I believe). And same with people along the West coast and corresponding time Zone. And Britain give this place a good amount of hits, so GMT zones wouldn't do that bad.

Yes, the US has the advantage since it has more users online at the same time, but others do enjoy that advantage too.

I try my best not to have one-liners. The thing is, I'm usually very blunt and to-the-point with what I have to say. Still, no excuses.

Just start working on it and later you'll do it naturally. Of course, sometimes making long posts is impossible when there is nothing to say. But most times you can add at least a few words if you explain what you just said, or make your point clear adding some extra information. Anyway as Slash said, we don't want you to write essays, just avoid one-liners.

1. The author signed up yesterday.

2. The submissions name was "Captain Mythra" (apparently he just changed it). In the game it says "Captain Mhytra". The comments still say "Mythra". If he made the game, he should know who it's called, right?

I don't really think that's allowed. gumOnShoe even warned about making news posts in an attempt to replace Rage's, so why would he or the other mods want the EGB being used to point to abusive reviews? The best idea is probably to hunt the reviews down yourself, preferably on the most recent submissions, and if you see any truly suspicious activity (spam alts, attempts to steal RCP with 30 copy/paste reviews of 10 from obvious alts), PM a review mod about it. If it's just a single rule-breaking review, flag it and move on.

That's pretty much what I've been doing these last few days since Rage's thread was locked. I've been looking at the reviews for recent submissions. I found at least one abusive one every day so far. Usually someone saying something's stolen. Insulting ones seem to be relatively rare; although I saw one today that insulted the author and said his submission was stolen. You also get the odd one saying something along the lines of "blam this piece of crap."

I think that now more than ever, we as the Elite Guard Barracks of Newgrounds have to look out for the site. Because, inevitably, a there won't be so many people flagging abuse now the thread has gone. I hope I can get to deity soon so that my voice will be heard even when I flag alone.

Of course, one of our goals is to deal with abusive stuff. So if we suspect of someone creating several accounts to review a submission or break any rules, I think it's OK to talk about it here. I'm not saying that we should go around posting every abusive review we find, but in special situations it would be good :)

A pretty big problem I'd assume but i think the admins have it under control or not because if you go to the flash portal you'll see that there are UJ submissions all of the 50 Recent Entries slot and if you click on those scattered flash movies/games it will tell you that the ID does not exist.
