Shit Soulmaster71, it passed have to do some research, but just because the email does not match up does not mean its not his. I find looking for the authors name a excellent way to find out if its stolen. Alas it passed well this Squf person saw loads of his flash in the obituaries, was he an alt?, Legion of Doom was a spam group. I think saw some of there stuff. The RIP Squf are getting a little annoying like when KORTZ ,was deleted back in may. Well Done to Wade Fulp for getting rid of him more action against these users, who abuse the portal. NG Logs working just checked my stats.

Email can be as valid of a sign as the name, say someone makes a flash and mentions their hotmail account in it, if it's submitted by someone with a gmail account say, then it looks odd. It's even more obvious if the flash has a custom email in it and they don't match up.

Infact, name is a worse indicator of who submitted it than email, anyone can copy someones name from a flash and pretend it's theirs. Or maybe the original author wanted a name change but no longer had the fla file to edit if it was an old flash.

Apologies for not updating when I said I was going to, but I got a little involved with double entry bookkeeping and then with Bender's Game, the new Futurama movie.

Okay, so I've been playing around with the features of Excel and I've reintroduced the average rise and fall. The main reasoning behind this was that last update, it would have given an imbalanced figure, because a weekly rate, ratcheting up to a monthly rate is innacurate. Now we have something to go by :)

Thank you for the roster Coop83 soon by next month hopefully, I will be moving up to Sergent. Only 26 or so more till I finally get there. What I mean about names Little-Rena was copy and pasting ,and seeing what comes up on the search engine, it helped me to find that some authors who emails domains did not match up. Some were still the rightful owners but were making games for that site. Yes names are not always the way to go. Lock Legion are making flashes so they have to make one, in less then 25 minutes. Been playing a good game called Anaksha: Female Assassin ,very violent and bloody game fun though.

Congrats to our Top 5 Gainers here. I'd admittedly have A LOT more if I would 5 that spam that was coming in through the portal. I think I lose about 20 B/P a day because of the shitty spam submissions that pass, but hey it's for the right cause.

To the people who think we need portal mods.. I don't think it's necessary because if you think about it.. It really is impossible to have an unbiased approach when taking care of spam on this website. I think the most simple way to make people vote fairly is to update the passing score to 2.0, which really would make sense because you vote 2-5 to pass a submission. It would save a lot of extra coding/programing and it would stop a lot of kids bitching about how this mod deleted his flash and banned him, but didn't delete this other persons flash that would be considered spam. That's because everyone is biased and everyone has opinions. Raising the score is much more logical than making mods. Especially since the logo of newgrounds is Everything by Everyone and it's not like they mass vote their movies. It's the regular people who mass vote the movies because they think it's going to pass. If you put the score up to 2.0 to pass more people will vote to blam it because they know there is a better chance of having the submission blammed.

Makes sense to me. How about you guys?

Also, very true. I guess I didn't think back far enough. I was thinking of the present where spammers only downvote their flash to get awards and never upvote them anymore because the people already do it for them. I guess I wasn't thinking back to the days that they actually had to set the people up with the upvoting and slowly got away from it and let the system work on it's own.

I like this better than having portal mods. Just 1 person, which will get rid of the different opinions the people with power will have since it will only be 1 person with power. People will still have different opinions on flashes, but still it doesn't matter because the problem would be created when people with power had different opinions. The only problem with this is that it takes a lot of work to watch every single flash submission that comes through the portal to see which one is worthy of being deleted and which ones aren't. To get rid of the bias the person would have to watch and judge every single persons flashes because to be honest I have seen some mods/good animators make some spammy flash and some spammers makes some really good flash. This problem might only last for awhile though as the number of spammers will be reduced and the result would be a great reduce in the movies that are submitted everyday. My prediction is they will do something about it. What they are going to do I have no clue, but I'm ready for it. I'm ready to hear the spammers bitch and complain as movies/accounts get deleted.

Do you guys still think clock day should be allowed if something ever happens of this nature though?

I don't see why not. Sadly CD seems to be seen an excuse for people to spam the Portal shitless, safe in the knowledge that anything can and probably will pass. However, putting an end to Clock Day will not happen in my view, for two main reasons:

1. It is an integral part of NG history and tradition, so Tom would be reluctant to scrap it.
2. It would be completely unfair to the good animators who submit decent flashes for Clock Day.

What could happen however is that a "portal admin" as is being discussed could sift through the UJ flashes, and try to eliminate the obvious spam, for example, the "ma bakerrr......" flashes that the several KallistiClock alts submitted this year, and the dozens of B clones.

That way, you'd still have Clock Day pretty much as normal, with all the decent flashes doing well, but with a large portion of the crap cut out. That's my opinion on the matter anyway.

a simple abuse-like system where one (or a certain fair amount) of the 200 voters (170-180 legit ones in spam) required to have a UJ system "flags" it as spam, not removing it from the UJ list, but adding it to that admin's list of flash movies to review; another are in which Barracks member will be able to help.

I wouldn't haste to flag it, he made the account with his email from some cheesy looking but official game website and you have no way of knowing if he at all has or doesn't have permission to submit it. He doesn't have an official sounding message but you still risk losing some points if it is flagged.

Well, even if his email wasn't from gmail, hotmail, etc as most people, I still think it's stolen. The author comments were "Hi guys, . It's simple,I liked this game the first time I played it. but addicting. I hope you enjoy it!"

That's really suspicious, and in addition, the author signed up today, and there's a website when you can get the game.

Anyway, I'll keep track of that submission to see if it ends up being deleted. This may take months, though.

Hello Ismael92, glad you been accepted welcome to EGB a lovely club and very fun to be a member of. Great work on finding that flash its under admin review ,so thank god it did not pass. It's such a pain with stuff passing I don't know if emails are a good way to tell sometimes, but its a good bet sign up date etc. Corky52 I think Clock Day should still happen, but stop people spamming crap I don't know the answer to that. Portal Mods seem good in theory, but would they work?, if people only voted fairly on submissions and not for points it would be so much better. Gotten 7b/p points today only 18 more to Sergent. So off topic I'm no great lover of politics but what did you think Of Barrack Obama winning? I was thrilled. By the way do you know what the problem is? I have not gotten any emails ,when my favorite author submits new stuff lately I got the boxes ticked.

It certainly feels nice being in second place in this club courtesy of all the old inactive members being removed from the roster, even though I know it won't last. I'll be away most of the next 2 weeks, and although that shouldn't be long enough for Coop to pass me, his relentlessly constant pace is certain to surpass me eventually. Pwroftheseagoat no doubt won't be far behind, although his pace is equally as inconsistent as mine.

Still, so long as I remain in the top 5 of the club I'll be happy, that was where I used to be before the cull...

A really strong month for me, despite a slow start. Congrats to the other 4 as well, a month is a long time to maintain a high pace, and I doubt I'll be in this list again any time soon.

Also, I'm now just 5 points away from level 33... which is a little annoying as I may not be able to deposit for the next few days (I may just sneak it in tomorrow). So close and yet so far, though I actually prefer level 32 to 33 anyway.

Actually once a month not a bad idea for the roster, at least you don't feel the pressure to get it done every week. I will be hopefully moving up the list before to soon, I got 2 blams which is rare 16 more till i get my lovely next badge. Also, OH GOD WHY WAS CLOCK DAY MENTIONED? The very mention of the day depresses me now, even though it's practically a whole year away. Perhaps the introduction of crazy Clock Day-only rules would make it better...something like NO POINTS ON CLOCK DAY COUNT, or ONLY BLAMS COUNT, SO YOU CAN MASS-SAVE BUT FUCK YOUR PROTECT POINTS (UNLESS IT WINS AN AWARD, IN WHICH CASE YOU GET LIKE, TEN POINTS, WOW)...I don't know.

With my re-attaining of Flash, I'm not sure if I'll make a Clock Day flash in 2009. My '06 Clock Day flash was based around how excited I was about my first experience with it---hence why I spent like two months making that shitty little movie---but the 2007 experience jaded me so badly that I don't look forward to it anymore. Now I feel like taking down lists of dickheads who spam one-framers all day instead. :'(

I am a jaded and cynical clockateer, and this is coming from a former member of the motherfucking Barney Bunch. Each Clock Day, somewhere, Drew Pickles is jerking off onto Clifford's fur and weeping at how low the spam can get and still pass. :'(

the marvel of the BB era was that, while shitty, the spam very rarely actually passed, so it wasn't as serious an issue. oh how i long for the days of yore
