Yeah, you won by 1 point. One little point. I lost by 53 points... It makes me feel a bit "small" when I compare myself to others...

Both are quite highly addicting. Of course, you're lucky in that you're playing early, as your hands will stretch out as you're still growing. Me? Kinda late for that.

I'm in the same situation as her. I'm still young and my hands are quite "flexible". The problem of playing guitar is that your fingertips become hard and they hurt a little bit.

That being said, what kind of guitar did you get?

The question wasn't directed at me but I want to show mine as well.

Well, this is it for the day. Got 45 B/P today and I'm happy with it. I want to have at least 300 B/P next roster, that would be a pace of 42 B/P a day...

Nuts, over and out.

The problem is we need more MEMBERS, not just guardsmen.

Well, that happens all the same. I've been playing for a little while myself, and you start to lose feeling in your left hand because of all the string action. However, you get used to it and your hand will harden to it, and you won't even notice a difference.

The question wasn't directed at me but I want to show mine as well.

Not too shabby. The guitar I picked up was a Fender Starcaster, which is a Stratocaster made by Fender, that's cheapo and made in China. Basically the equivalent of a Squier Strat, I guess. I got it for $100 in a pawn shop, and the thing was basically brand-new. It still had plastic coating on the tuners and the pickguard, and it had the original strings on it (which sucked). Though, they never fell out of tune. With a good set of DR's, the guitar sounds awesome, has minimal buzz on a single coil, and almost never goes out of tune (and I'm tuning with a Korg Chromatic Tuner, too). I'm lucky as hell to have this thing. I coupled it with a used-in-store Roland Micro-Cube I got at Guitar Center for half-price. Packs enough punch for this tiny-ass apartment, so I'm quite happy.

I've been playing since I was two, heheh, so it's like rediscovering a part of my soul, or something just as cheesy as what I just said. My fingers are nimble and long, an easy fit for my guitar.

That being said, what kind of guitar did you get?

I have a Les Paul, a gibson SG, a fender Stratocaster, a fender squire, a fender Telecaster, and a flying V signed by Ozzy.... lots more... I practically collect them.

Not at all =)

I have a little arthritis in my right hand already, but that's my picking hand and it's only that way cause it got injured. I don't have the problem with the hard fingertips, mine are perfectly fine and soft.

In a way yes, and in a way no. I play the baritone as well in school, and the teacher doesn't really approve of me practicing only on guitar. She's happy that I know the melodies forwards and backwards though

My brother got me started on guitar playing. As long as you give it back and don't break anything on it, I'm ok with it.

I really hate my ISP sometimes. For some random reason, my internet wasn't working for a few hours this morning. I tried everything I could to get it working again, but nothing happened, so I assumed that the problem was with the ISP, and not my end. So I call up my ISP and ask if the broadband in my area is down (as it has been in the past). They say no, and put me through to tech support. As the tech support people pick up, I think I might as well refresh the page on my browser to make sure the internet is still down, at which point it decides to start working again. Fucking typical.

Also, speaking of guitars, I'm thinking of getting one instead of a keyboard for uni... mostly because I don't have £2,000 right now, and guitars are awesome.

To top off my bad day, I made an appointment at the bank to open my student account (which my student loan will go into, obviously). Was running late, so I had to drive over the speed limit all the way there, and practically run to the bank (on a hot sunny day no less). So when I get there, I'm sweating a bit and out of breath. I go to my appointment, and the guy says to me that the letter I brought proving my acceptance to my chosen university (which was an online print-off) wasn't the one they accepted, and that I had to wait for the hard copy to be sent to me before I can open my student account.

Salutations EG'ers! I'm Tails, head of the NGPD, just stopping by to pay a friendly visit! I do notice that there was some talk about a certain demand for guardsmen not being met and I do wish to help.

However, I'd like to know first off what is the significant purpose of these guardsmen? I understand that it gives our members a proper introduction to their potential future as elite guards, but is there anything more to it? I don't mean to undermine this whole operation but if there's not much to do as guardsmen, then I can safely assume that my guys will be perfectly content with the NGPD. Please correct me if I'm wrong, I wish to understand the situation before I begin to help.

Also, where's Slash? I haven't seen him around HQ in a while.

That's one of the reasons behind the idea, but it's slightly more than just an introduction to the EGB. Being a Guardsman basically allows NGPDers to see the slightly more inner workings of the Barracks, familiarize themselves with the personnel, and seek guidance for anything they might need to improve upon to make their transition to the EGB smoother.

I don't mean to undermine this whole operation but if there's not much to do as guardsmen, then I can safely assume that my guys will be perfectly content with the NGPD. Please correct me if I'm wrong, I wish to understand the situation before I begin to help.

In addition to being granted an honorary position in the Barracks, the Guardsmen have their own section on the roster, which can be helpful in tracking how much B/P they require to reach the EGB. The Guardsman position can also serve as something of a semi-membership phase for those ex-NGPDers who need to fix their whistle etc before they can apply to join.

I understand that there are several NGPD members who don't wish to level up to the rank of Private, which is fine. If, on the other hand, there are any NGPDers who do wish to join the EGB in the future, I'd strongly advise them to become a Guardsman first. It's helpful on both sides, as we can get to know them and guide them on their way to the EGB, and they can familiarize themselves with how we operate and make some new friends here before they have to leave the NGPD.

It's nice for us to be able to guide these people, because some of them might need some guidance before we'll accept them. There's no guarantee that a user from the NGPD will be automatically accepted, but if they opt for Guardsmanship first, it greatly increases their chances.

Also, where's Slash? I haven't seen him around HQ in a while.

He's around, but he's not as active as he used to be. Thankfully, Eagle has make a valiant return, so we're not leaderless by any means.

Nice to see you around here, Tails! I've been meaning to jump by the NGPD lately, so this might just catalyze me doing so.

However, I'd like to know first off what is the significant purpose of these guardsmen? I understand that it gives our members a proper introduction to their potential future as elite guards, but is there anything more to it?

Well, here's how it works. We have plenty of people that like to come here before rankups, and those (be them in the NGPD or no) that are anxious to join our ranks can come here before they are full members and become guardsman. Basically, it comes down to if you are close to the B/P necessary or if you have a garbage whistle, you are qualified to be a Guardsman before you become a full member.

I don't mean to undermine this whole operation but if there's not much to do as guardsmen, then I can safely assume that my guys will be perfectly content with the NGPD. Please correct me if I'm wrong, I wish to understand the situation before I begin to help.

Depending on the person, they may like the NGPD better or the EGB better, so it's really their choice. It's simply one more option we provide to those members that are close to meeting the requirements. There's no reason that someone could be a Guardsman in the EGB while still being a Police Captain in the NGPD to ease the transition. Again, it's all up to them.

Also, where's Slash? I haven't seen him around HQ in a while.

He's been gone from here for a while too. He lurks, I know, but he rarely posts even here.

Right. Either that, or if they want to coexist in both groups during their transitory period. Maybe they'd like to get to know their Barracks buddies before they're honorably discharged from the NGPD. Also, the statistics (thanks to NEVR and Joshiwa) are good motivators to those who which to excel in B/P.

He's around, but he's not as active as he used to be. Thankfully, Eagle has make a valiant return, so we're not leaderless by any means.

Well Private, I'm glad to say your post history and your B/P ranking fulfill the requirements well, but we do have one more basic requirement to become a full member, and that is a whistle in good standing. Your garbage whistle doesn't meet the requirements, so you cannot be made a full member just yet. However, you do qualify for a Guardsman position, which is a temporary status that puts you on our roster and in our Barracks while working towards full membership status.

In the meantime, I suggest checking out the Abusive Review Thread over in Wi/Ht to help polish up that whistle. Also, check out our forums and sign on up. Welcome to the Barracks!

Thank god I joined when I was an Officer. Now I'm living in the EGB General's quarters ;P

ENJOY YOUR BUNK, PRIVATE.

On another slightly more serious note, I need to warn you guys that come September when I go to university, I'll need to re-evaluate which day the roster falls on. I'm definitely not thinking of giving up the job yet, but if I happen to have lectures on Tuesdays, I'm going to have to shift things around to accommodate my education. I'm sure you guys understand... and if not I don't really care, because Joshiwa and I are the ones doing the work here, so this is our prerogative.

If I do have to shift the roster to a different day, it will probably be on a weekend, like Sunday, when my other responsibilities are minimal. This isn't definite yet, though. I'll see how things go.

Agreed. Nice to have you in the Barracks Dj. I'll offer you my little 'cave', should I leave at any time.

I'm tired as hell this morning, lol. I'm not sure if I can make it past 10:00 hours. I'll be up as long as I can B/P'ing. Can't let The Portal go unprotected, right?

I am pretty sure I would be able to do it on any day as far as I know, but we can decide on the day when we get to the point when we need too. As for now no worries.

They may of been deleted or had name changes, but no they were not respected, they were spammers.
