Actually, I went AWOL too for nearly a year in 2006. I had a lot going on that year - exams, a very high-maintenance girlfriend, family stuff, etc etc. Needless to say, Newgrounds was the last thing on my mind back then.

Still, like you, I think I came back just in time to catch most of those groups fading away into nothingness. I don't know the reasons for it happening, but I imagine that like any group that spams for no real reason other than for the sake of spamming, they just ran out of steam.

No, don't join. I've had some interaction with the "Slayers", which was a lot less friendly a short time ago. While I managed to convince most of those involved to stop being dicks, and told them ways they could help Newgrounds without causing more problems, they're still not a real club as they're redundant, less efficient attempts at what the NGPD and EGB are.

We should encourage them to aspire to join the NGPD and EGB, not the other way around.

Well lately I don't have much free time. I've been ill for the past 4 or 5 days, and I'm trying to find a job, so my pace has dropped considerably - I'm only getting around 30-35 per day, as opposed to last week, where I made a weekly average of 108 B/P per day.
