Just dropping by to see what's going on in the Barracks. Seems it's been fairly quiet in here, something mirrored by the portal tin the past few days. I've really been struggling to get any significant amount of points. I managed a reasonably 69 yesterday, but considering I wanted to be amongst the 75+ per day B/Pers for the 'B/P ranks 51+' update tomorrow, that\s not quite good enough. Doesn't look like I'm going to make it now :(

Wow congrats to you on that. In the same way it make me sad as well since I am only evel 31 and I have been on NG for almost 3 years. No I am just kidding on that last part since I only missed 5 deposits myself (4 due to being away from my computer and the last due to the Admins putting in the new layout) while I am happy the new layout came it robbed me of the old level 15 chain I would have gotten in less then 10 days!

So I ask you members of the EGB who remember the old level icons which of the old level icons did you really want to get before they would change the layout also did you ever get it?

I would of liked the old school level 24 in the old Newgrounds layout, but that was too far away for even me to reach at this point. :(

I was hoping to one day get the oldgrounds level 16 Nunchaku. Unfortunately, I wouldn't have been able to get there even if I'd deposited every day without fail since I signed up. If I had deposited every day, I would have been around level 15 at the time of the redesign, and would be coming close to hitting the old level 16 now.

All is not lost, however! I still have my opportunity to wield the mighty Nunchaku of the level 27 variety, which IMO aren't quite as spectacular as the original ones, but Nunchaku nonetheless. I am thankful for that, though ironically enough, if I HAD deposited every day, I never would have gotten to wield them at all.

I only missed 4 deposits before the new layout came and I was still a few days away from it myself. as for 16 I was still about 7 months away from that Icon before the layout. also when the new layout came I had started at level 27. but you are right about one thing the nunchacku of old > Nunchaku new. I can't wait until I get to levels 45 and 49 then I will actually have level icons I like.

Ahh, well that's interesting. Perhaps I'm making some faulty assumptions here - I swear that during that last few days of the old layout NG Log said something along the lines of "If you had deposited everyday you would have had ?,??? EXP and would be level 14.9", but perhaps I'm remembering wrong, or there was a miscalculation. Probably the former. Still, I only signed up 7 weeks and 1 day after you, so if we'd both deposited every day I'd only be 500 EXP behind you ;)

Yeah, the new ones aren't great, but they aren't crappy either. I'm still looking forward to attaining them.

My favourite post-redesign levels are easily 43 and 45. 49 in an interesting choice on your part, though, I haven't heard many people raving about the golden bow and arrow.

I agree with the idea that some of the old levels were better than the new ( I loved my barbed wire glove) but there are definatly some levels that we can look forward too. 46 and 47 are cool but my fav is 58. Shame I will never see it in my profile. Also I Joined NG about the same time as you so you were probably level 11,12 or 13 before the redesign. I've misse about a fourghtnights worth of exp in total. I'm rank 306 in B/P which I found out just today which is nice.

I know I dont post much (as I think I mention every time I post) but I do read the posts in here on a regular basis and do my bit in the portal. Also a side note I'm 20 on Monday and the Sunday after ( March 2nd ) I will be off to south africa for a month so I will miss out on a lot of B/P and exp :' ( can you feel my pain. So for once I have a legitimate reason for not posting other than being just lazy.

I joined about a year before you, but I left NG for a year, hence us having around the same amount of EXP.

Well I did want to get to level 10 but that put me off voting for about a month but I like dthe look of the baseball bat.

I just finished watching the 7th episode of the 2nd volume of "Heroes" and I came to a conclusion: European English is way better than American English. Not only by the words, but mostly by the spelling and the accent. It's so clear to understand the words that the subtitles became useless when someone English was talking.

Also, Heroes is a great series. I can't wait untill next Friday to see the next episode!

Not only the flashes, but Newgrounds overall. I even ran speed disk on Norton, thinking that it was my computer that suddenly slowed down. But it didn't help much.

Slightly biased on that point, but having spent a year in the States I certainly missed English accents (yes, even Brummy). It just sounds a lot smoother to my ear.

Huh, I thought that was just my computer, it has been running slowly recently, but as NG is one of the few websites I go to (at least that has such intensive graphics etc.) it didn't register that it might be the site. It isn't much of a problem, I just can't use as many tabs.

My guess is, they are trolling to see abusive reviews like "Go get hit by an AIDS truck" (and yes I've seen and flagged one like that before) on the obituary page. Or maybe he was trying to test out codes to put in the sequel to AAEN that he's writing, I don't know. Nope, although we do talk about a variety of stuff when things are slow. Our primary purpose is to protect Newgrounds, and is multi-pronged in practice.

We protect the Portal by B/P'ing (with many members pulling crazy hours), voting fairly, ie not for points, in order to offset the point whores. We also encourage others to do the same, in the hopes that we can reduce or eliminate the "free protect effect". This is the foundation of the EGB.

We investigate suspected cases of stolen flashes and coordinate multiple-thread whistle alerts---always providing evidence and links to ensure our efforts are not flawed---to increase the chances of flagging. Any stolen flash (along with fileswaps and alt-spammers) that passes is reported to Wade---and we have a high success ratio at getting flashes (and occasionally their submitters) taken care of.

On the same note, we actively encourage flagging of abusive reviews and help Newgrounders, EGB members or not, learn how to leave helpful and non-abusive reviews.

To summarize: we help by being specialists in the various ways to patrol Newgrounds, ranging from the detailed work of informing Wade of rulebreaking stuff that gets past judgment, to the typical work of flagging reviews, to the community work of helping newer Newgrounders learn the ropes and not get sucked into the point-whore trap.
