I reviewed the game, Sentio. It was alright as far as flash games go...

Today is the last day for the Literature contest. If your narrow ass hasn't submitted anything or even read anything, it's D-Day for you. Get to it. Judging starts tomorrow.

ILC turned me to Runescape... and, guys, I usually hate fantasy RPGs, but this one is actually quite decent, especially for a free one. Check that shit out.

I had $22 in loose change at my house, man. I took it to the bank. They have some kinda coinstar thing, but it's free to use. I'm gonna use that from now on, man. I fucking hate counting goddamn change. And it gives me an excuse to see the pretty girls that work at the bank. I stand slightly over 6 feet, about 6'1" or 6'2", and they're rather short. They were low-cut shirts and they always lean down to right. I know it's just cleavage and for fuck's sake I'm not that repressed, but it's just a simple joy, I suppose. Thanks, loose change.

Not much news other than I made 9000 B/P points today, gotta hate these 1500 point gaps :(

So I've gone for Azentiger's suggestion of Amorphous. This is a bit different to last week as it is a very good submission (at least in my opinion), but there are certainly ways it can be improved, and that is what you lot are going to be looking for. So it could well be a harder review to write. On the bright side it is a good excuse to play one of the better games on NG, and there is a thread I started in the Barracks forums about it already for those who enjoy it.

Heheh... I just knew that you would choose that game as Round 4 submission.
Harder review to write? Hum, it will be interesting. I'll write my review in a while, just after Round 3 results, and anyway I have some business to do.

Pretty much :). Every week I pick out a submission that I feel deserves reviews, whether it be TOTW (when not spam), or a random thing from the 50 most recent. The idea is for members to review the submission as best they can, and those reviews are then ranked by a panel of judges (myself, Shanus, PenguinLink and ILC), and results given.

The aim is not only to help authors who deserve it, but to improve the reviewing skills of the barracks with a bit of healthy competition. Hopefully those taking part look at the reviews that are doing well, and learn how to improve their own reviewing technique.

More information can be found on the Barracks forums (see link in my sig (FAQ) or in Snerd's or Azentiger's and possibly a few others)- you will have to sign up to see it though as it is in the secure area.

I hated it. Too much clicking, and the graphics are terrible, even if it is free. I played it, and found that most of the time, it's 12 year-olds who think their so cool on the internet are playing.

That's only your internal network speed. My cable connection clocks in at around 12-16mbps downstream and 1.5mbps upstream, so that doesn't seem right. Try http://www.speedtest.net/ to see what your speed is.

Also, 12kbps is slower than dialup. You're probably hitting 40-56kbps at home assuming you have dialup, unless you're confusing that with 12mbps, which is about the speed I have with Optimum Online broadband cable.

If i had not of said anything , then he might not have realised that what he is doing is not the "done thing". This way he learns how the forums work. And he wont make the same mistake again.

You can't "fix up" an Internet connection to run faster. Even if you check the LAN Connection status and see 100mbps, that's still an internal network connection speed, not your broadband connection speed. The only Internet connection I know of capable of at least 100mbps is an OC/3 server, which costs $20,000 a month to lease.

Strangely enough I need round 75 pointsperday to get on the list, and I could do that, but having taking a day out, and only getting 15 points, that seems highly unlikely now, ah well

NONONONO. Let me make this straight: girls do NOT get more crazy once you marry them...they stay just as crazy as they always were. However, being married to them and living with them day in and day out, you are now fully exposed to their craziness. Dating someone, even if you see them 4-5 times a week, doesn't give you full realization of their craziness.

Well, time for me to finally shut down this machine for the last time. Next time I post I'll be using my new PC! I've already got the case set up, as well as most of the components. Not too well. I only made a few dozen at most. I was busy at work (I magically became the guru at our phone system at work without ever administrating a phone network before...), and I was building my computer before. Therefore, minimal points for me.

Incidentally, my computer's all set up, but I won't be able to use it yet, 'cause my power supply unit isn't good enough. It doesn't support 20+4 motherboard power output and doesn't bother to have an 8-pin CPU power output. Therefore, I'm screwed until I can get to Best Buy tomorrow... :-/

Back to the portal now to get some more points. :)

I was always more of a World of Warcraft player. You still get 12 year old n00bies, asking if they can cyber with fit women (usually Night Elves), but the graphics are way better and I just ignore them and go about my business of killing as much as I can.

So I got disc one of "Oz" season one from Netflix. It's a good show, man. If for nothing else, check the show out for the camera work. They have some really good shots. The story is really good, too. I can't wait to get disc two.

That sounds like a cool idea. I will surely participate to these contests, if I remember to do so when I should... The problem with me is, I only review submissions I love. With this, I will be "forced" to review other submission as well. Great!

I've never played WoW, or indeed any game like it. I'm not even sure why, I'm sure I would enjoy them if I did, but I'm still too addicted to Enemy Territory to play anything else :S. Come the summer I'll be getting a Wii, so that will put an end to any online gaming for a while.

Yeah, getting people out of their comfort zone is a good thing as well. I don't review nearly enough either, and only things I really want to review, so it is good for everyone to review something different. The first couple of challenges were TOTW, with the challenge to write a fair review that doesn't get deleted! Sadly in pretty much every case the TOTW was deleted instead.

My friend is rich and he 'shares' his connection with me because he's so nice, nice and rich that is, he's loaded! I probably should have mentioned that earlier, but hey, atleast I've got part-time good internet to brag about. I've also fixed my athlon up to run faster, I've been messing around with the settings on it and actually part swapping to see if it'd really run like I want it to. I've been turning up the bus speed on it and stuff like that, you get the point.

I would, but oh no, mom says it'd cost too much, and she'd cut out my skating if I went and got one and hooked it up. She just doesn't know that 12K isn't worth 50 bucks. AT&T is really milking every last dollar out of dial up if you ask me. The cable man says if everyone jumps on OC/3, DSL , and Comcast, it'll cause a piggyback and they'll be about the same speed as dial-up, only a little faster though. I think it's our phone lines down here, they suck, they pop and cracle so much that you can't even hear what someone's saying on the other end, all you hear is K-SHHH-POP-KSSHHH- and then it squeals, then it just goes * beep beep beep beep beep * like someone cut the phone wire and it's still trying to make a call.

I might start doing them too. I have more time, with the lighter amount of homework given, and who studies for finals? I think it'll be a great way to up my review stats. (because I'm that much of a stat whore). I find it easy to review submissions; pick out the good, and throw in some flaws and how they can improve those flaws. Or do what I did for The Last Stand and tell what you would want in the sequel.

I used to play Runescape about two years ago. It was quite addicting, and I liked the fact that you could pump up any of the skills, making you a mage, hunter, warrior, and whatever else you wanted to be all in one. I was going to pay for it, but I never got my basic stats up high enough to make it worth the money.

I highly doubt your friend is spending $20,000 a month for Internet access.

I've also fixed my athlon up to run faster, I've been messing around with the settings on it and actually part swapping to see if it'd really run like I want it to. I've been turning up the bus speed on it and stuff like that, you get the point.

Overclocking is fun, but you need to watch it with the Athlons, especially the older ones that had thermal diodes that failed easily. You'll fry up your processor if you overclock it too much. That's at least one thing that Intel always had going for it...overclock city.
