I agree that it's fucked up but I doubt that they'll be changing that in the redesign. The levels should be static. It's almost like the old whistle system in a sense with few at the top and every one else stuck with levels 1-16. If the level system were more like the b/p system with increasing exp gates it would be fair to all users instead of the few that are hardcore dedicated and hold everyone else back. It really should be a static system.

Congrats to Sentio on level 14! I personally like the pipe better than the bat so if you want to trade let me know.

Not so much copier- MadCow suggested the aura change to me as it matches my sig better, and I agreed. Hence the change. I still prefer the green as a whole, but it does look better (and more evil) as red. It is a bit of a pain being the same as Phantom though!

Yeah, months and months now. I really hope the PM system gets a good overhaul, as I am using it more and more these days. Having little alerts or a note by the profile log in in the top right when you have new PMs would be great for a start.

Yup, I think most people have come to terms with this now. It does suck, but it is the way the system works, and if you are dedicated you can level up over time. I'm pretty sure it will stay the same system with the redesign as well.

I doubt the actual layout will change too much, all the preview pics have had the same gray background, but there are bigger sigs, new levels, animations running on the front page, and probably changes to the audio portal and PM system as well to look forward to. They may not get all of the problems, but they will be able to add things faster and easier thanks to the recoding.

On the whole it is going to be worth the wait (or everyone is going to be mighty pissed).

Yeah, I really have no idea how they can improve NG and by how much. I would love to see a really REALLY REALLY advanced site with awesome features once the update has come. NG is a very futuristic site and I would love to see it reach a new benchmark for websites in this day and age.

Well... it's official now: Amanda and I are no more. And this is the second craziest "break-up" or whatever you wanna call it I've ever had. #1 is pretty bad. I'll tell you privately if you really wanna know.

So I get a call around 9 tonight. It's from my friend Reid. Alright... He's at the beach this weekend, maybe he's just calling to brag about his good time or whatever. Wrong. He says his girlfriend has Amanda on another line. Okay... let's take a break here. Reid's girlfriend set me up with Amanda. So I have this fucking second-hand conversation with Reid. So, essentially, if I ever wanted to know what's gay men experience when they break up, I'd have reference. It was fucking weird. But I left on good terms. Apparently, Amanda has decided that she's a lesbian and she's cool with that. I'm just glad that she knows what she wants now. If she's happy, I'm happy. I basically knew this would happen. I was honestly expecting this kinda thing last week... except... maybe actually seeing her or talking to her. Oh well... So I was emotionally prepared is the point I'm making. So instead of letting it hit me like a ton of bricks, I came across as calm and understanding. I still wanted to be friends with her because it's not often that you meet someone of intelligence around here; she said that it would be too uncomfortable, and I understand that.

So what does all this mean? Well... I'm alone again. For a while, I'll judge every girl I meet by the standard of Amanda. I'll feel like I'm all alone. I'll find someone else, by mistake, along the way. Go back, Jack, do it again. Wheel turnin' 'round and 'round. But I'm not sad. I'm not gonna try to bring anyone's mood down or anything. Shit, there's a graduation party in a few days. If I want, I'll at least get laid. That'll help.

On a lighter note, I made my goal for today. 3300. Maybe not by this post, but certainly soon.

Anyway I wanted to say what I had forgotten to mention yesterday: As some of you guys know, I am going to take a stint from B/Ping, not because I reached EGSC, but because I am going to try and practice my Flash skills this summer. The only problem is that my laptop sucks a dick, and I cannot run Flash for more than ten minutes without having a thermal shutdown. However, since I have successfully built my own PC for a tech class at school, I now have a refurbished Dell with Windows 98, and about 30GB of HDD space...not that impressive, and Flash 8 isn't compatible with it either. Until I can shell out enough dough for a decent desktop drive and another OS that is compatible with Flash, I won't be able to begin. I also plan to take up some computer programming languages and German over the summer, and a lot of other things (driver's test, jobs, some other shit, etc.) too.

What this means is that I will be away from the Portal more than i'd like to be. I may come every few hours to do a sweep of the Flashes, and then be on my way, so my B/P won't be as impressive. Another thing is that you may not see me post on the BBS often, maybe once every few weeks, mostly because I have an ambivalent relationship with the NG BBS, as I despise what has become of the General populace since late 06, yet I long to interact with them. Two problems with that may be that they are too insolent to communicate to at times, or that I am an introvert. Either way, i'm not much of a poster either :/ .

There's a topic that i've been wanting to discuss with the EGB for a while too, one that I was actually going to post on the EGB forums, but what the hell...Some of you may be familiar with a certain Flash submission known as an AMV (Animated Music Video), which is a music video usually composed along with clips cut out from anime shows. The issue with authors submitting these types of entries is that People assume the Flash is "stolen" because they did not "make" the movie (as in "you didn't make the show clips, and therefore it's stolen"). The author of that AMV took time to manually piece together the clips in accordance to the song they were using for it. After that, can we say it is not the author's actual work?

Another similar submission that gets flagged are movie or show "dubs", submissions in where you take a clip from a TV show or movie, and then voice the characters yourself (something Knox got flagged for). Then again, this rule may also apply to sprite movies and half-baked hentai quizzes, but not quite as much so these will be discarded. Dealing with the authenticity of the submissions when encountered in the portal is often a dilemma, and often times I do not know what to do in that position. What would you guys do when faced in those situations?

Depositing you could get someone to do for you, but b/ping, i dont think anyone would be up for that. It means they miss out on the b/p they get for you as each ip can only vote on a submission once a day.

So I've been watching episodes of "Carnivale" lately. That show is really good, but it's weird as fuck. If you want a link to it, I could give you one in a PM. I get another disc of "The Shield" from Netflix tomorrow. That's another good show.

Speaking of tomorrow, I have graduation practiceat 1 pm tomorrow. I still need to get my speech together. I'm the valedictorian. I think it's kinda funny because I'm the laziest student ever and I really don't wanna go to college. I'm going to college, it's just that I think I could do a lot more with the time than attending classes. I really want to open my own comic shop. That's not exactly a job that requires a master's.

Exactly, this is only going to be a temporary solution. One day they are going to have to fix the levels I think, assuming Pimp just carries on depositing like he has. As you say though, all changes are good, and it will be nice to breath some new life into the site.

I can't say I can remember, it was quite a long time ago, and I got dragged along by a few friends from New Zealand. I don't get all the bouncing the ball, though other than that it was good to watch.

I is a spammer :D. I've spent a lot more time in general, and a few posts in Wi/Ht late at night when the other users who help out in there are asleep. Since last October I've been going at a steady 4-5 posts per day average.

Another thing is that you may not see me post on the BBS often, maybe once every few weeks, mostly because I have an ambivalent relationship with the NG BBS, as I despise what has become of the General populace since late 06, yet I long to interact with them. Two problems with that may be that they are too insolent to communicate to at times, or that I am an introvert. Either way, i'm not much of a poster either :/ .

There are a huge number of morons on the BBS, but I've met some pretty incredible people through it as well, even in General. The trick is just to pick your threads and interact with the right people, and then it can be a great place to waste a few hours. We'll always be here to welcome you back with open arms anyway :)

Good question- I tend not to whistle anything like that, but I almost always vote to blam them. I just don't find submissions like that entertaining, or really what the NG portal is about. After all this is a flash site, and they don't feel like flash to me. Plus it seems lazy to take other people's clips. I don't know what the official word is about them though, and whether they should be banned as copyright infringement. After all a huge number of submissions use copyrighted music and don't get punished for it.

Another similar submission that gets flagged are movie or show "dubs"

I tend to blam them as well, for the same reason. I can't remember seeing many that were any good, and again they seem to be lacking effort when you take TV clips. After all they could animate the scenes and do the dubbing over that. I can see why people do whistle these things though.
