I totally agree with EGSL innphernoe here. Sometimes, when an author resubmits the same craps that he sumbitted already a while ago, people could not remember. As the result, they got blammed again before being flagged. I personally hate the case because whenever it happens, I and the others who whistled lose our whistle points for attempting to flag blammed entries. I have not seen EGSC nimmer for a while, sir! Even if he returns, I believe that our barracks need more than 1 person to report for malicious entries. For the benefits of the portal, I would love to put the duty on my shoulders, sir!

i was keeping an eye on this thread and the forums AND the portal. mainly the portal. but unforunatly i also have examn's in january so if i'm a little less present in the topic maybe it's because i'm studying.

anyway i've posted at least one post a day i think. so if you didn't see me in a while perhaps you didn't read all the posts of the topic.

I think I got around 80 to 100 B/P points yesterday, which helped me out a great deal in my quest towards the next Sergeant rank and eventual Golden Badge-ness, since attaining the rank of Sergeant Major will be quite a boon to me when I go to Officers' School to see if they'll allow me to become a Second Lieutenant.

Anyways, this B/P bump isn't what I'm most happy about. What I'm really happy about is that now I get to ditch the boxing gloves altogether and progress to superior weaponry, for I am now a Level 13 user!

Some of my knives and swords are like that. I use them for display pieces. Now my broadsword and Odachi on the other hand, are fully functional.

DEFCON Update:

The Portal is speeding up again, so I think we can warrant a change from DEFCON 4 to DEFCON 3. I don't know how the holiday will affect Portal speed, so a change to DEFCON 2 might be seen today. Either way, keep alert for people with plenty of time on their hands and malicious intent.

I have 2 swords in an X shape in a wooden shield shaped "thing" ( don't know exact name ) that holds it in that shape and on each side of the wall a knife or sword pointing toward the X shape one... The knifes in the X shape are short... About 7 inches of blade... And the saber is about 19 inches of blade and the other knife is 9 inches... So naturally my rooms new center piece is the 28 and a half inch sword I bought today... I now have a modest collection of 7( 2 in the living room, 5 in my room ).

Well back on topic... I saw a flash about the Microsoft dog and was scared for a second it was the notorious BB flash I’ve heard of but it was just a bad movie about the same thing...

I'm glad to see another individual who has visited the Swords Online site. It got me even more into swords than I had been before I saw it.Though the items I got for Christmas, a 9" (5" blade) Persian-style false-edged dagger made in Spain and a 13.5" (8.5") Celtic-style well-sharpened dagger made in China, weren't purchased from Swords Online, they are still nice items (though I had to have my dad stick some paper alongside the blade in the handle of the Persian one to keep the blade from sliding out > : ()

Anyways, back on track!
Even though I know the "share your methods" phase is basically over, I'll still share mine. I used to view only flash movies under 1000 kB because I was overly concerned about running disk cleanups, but I eventually retired this practice. Since those days, I have changed to viewing every UJ flash in the portal.
- If it was meant to piss someone off (those "screamer" flashes for example) or to break the rules (anti-phallic anyone?) I'll vote zero and sometimes blow the whistle. (the whistle of course is only called into service if the flash breaks the rules, such as being pornographic, et cetera)
- When I want a flash blammed, I usually vote a 0 on it. To me the line between portal worthy (2 and up) and trash (0) is very distinct, but the few flashes that sit on that line (such as a rather poorly made flash that made me chuckle but wasn't quite good enough) get ones.
- If I see a flash that is (barely) worthy, or a flash that went slightly "above and beyond" the call of duty but didn't really keep my interest, I tend to vote a two.
- Three is the most common vote I give, with the possible (probable) exception of 0. I give a three to a movie that was both portal worthy and capable of holding my interest. (IE: a well done FBF animation [by FBF, I don't mean that it uses other stuff, I mean that it has the lines dancing around the screen and everything] that has a touch of originality.)
- A four is given to any movie that I felt went well above and beyond the call of duty, and not only held my interest but demanded it. (IE: A game with good graphics and gameplay, but a couple minor to moderate glitches; a movie with exceptionally good graphics, sound, etc., but that is incomplete.)
- Fives are almost as rare from me as ones are. I only give a five if I am convinced it deserves to be either on the front page or the top 50 or both. I rarely if ever give this score to a movie; it is more commonly (relatively, of course) received by a game that I wasn't able to stop playing for any reason.

Well, THAT took me a while. Note that there are sometimes exceptions to these methods, but they are rare. Also note that these are MY methods. If they work for you, by all means use them, but they won't necessarily work for you, or for anyone besides myself for that matter. :/

This flash was submitted twice by the same author, and all he did to it was alter the title a little bit and label it as a movie instead of a game. He could have done this in his profile, but instead he chose t resubmit it to the portal, which was stupid of him. Therefore i believe this qualifies it as malicious. Here is the original flash.

Anyway, back to the subject of flash. What kinds of MLK flash (if any) do you guys think will be on the portal today? Personally, I think there will be a couple good ones.

Speaking of swords most of mine are found in Fantasy category . These are usually useless but look more painful than any other sword... The odachi is really long! It's probably very comfortable to wield ( that is why it is functional unlike fantasy swords ). Well on to B/Ping while I still can...

X-naut, although you are by far my superior officer and superior by level, I feel I have to comment on your movie. You told me once that they get bad scores because the start syndacite mass votes 0 on them. I am sorry x-naut, I think the reason they get bad scores is merely because they are, well, not that good. Your movie seems to merely be a fast slide show of random images, playing to music. Do not take that much offence at this, but they resemble the barney bunch. To quote kungfoo cow, why x naut? why?

Anyone see the Boondocks last night, with the MLK speech? That was bold of them to air that, I think. Carried a strong message no one is saying nowadays, but might do some good if it was heard. (now watch, someone will try to sue Adult Swim for airing it, lol...pffft)
The portal does seem quite active today overall, which is great. A little slow at the moment, but hopefully it'll pick up again. I would like another 125+ day, to speed up my rise to becoming a Master Sergeant...I'm getting closer! ^_^

Hello to all *salutes all superior officers*
I've been browsing this club for some time and feel it's about time I joined it. Initially I found some members' dedication to the portal quite daunting, but as I have grown experienced myself I now see it as an inspiration. After all the foundation of this great site is around the portal, and it takes dedicated members to defend it from the rubbish thrown at it on a daily basis.
My own efforts today have been reasonable, with somewhere close to 50 points so far (I've been checking into the portal regularly for the last 10 hours or so). Unfortunately due to time differences I often miss the busier periods in the evening, but I do my best in the quiet times!!

I reviewed your methods, and yes, the differ from mine. However, it does give a fair judgement in my opinion and is good for you to use as a guide. Like I said before (and you said in this post), what works for me won't work for you, and vice versa. Everyone's different in that respect. That's why I like the katana, sir. It's very good to use with either one hand or two, and works well with the martial art I take. The katana feels like an extension of my arm, which is what a weapon really should be.
