As the DEFCON was left elevated last night due to anti-phallic flash, there is no need to change it right now. Therefore, it shall stay at DEFCON 3 until further notice. However, there are many flash under judgement, so please be diligent!

It's not just you, sir. DEFCON 3 is the standard DEFCON for normal daytime activities, especially around peak hour. At night, when the Portal is slow, DEFCON 4 is standard. Very rarely does DEFCON 5 come along, as it is only for very slow circumstances. I have not beed properly lowering the DEFCON at night like I should have over the past few nights as I have been very busy. It wasnt slow when I first logged on at around 11:00am there was 24 under-judjement! I thought it was some special day, but it turns out not too many people were voting on them so they stayed under-judjement for a few hours...

This is a first for me... I forgot to log off of my alt account so it turns out I didnt really gain any points yet. Damn like 20 points missed :'(

1. If I remember correctly it takes six people to flag a flash but it has to be the same reason.

It took me under 48 hours to get a silver whistle. I whistle reviews. There is not shortage in that kind of reviews and it's you the same points as any flash would.

Anyone else notice that the Turd of the Week was fileswapped? It went from a Star Trek quiz to...yeah, what it is now. I don't know if the admins should be bothered with it or not, seeing as it's Turd of the Week and wasn't exactly shining material beforehand, but still...makes me aggravated.

Attention Soldiers!

I am frankly getting sick and tired of hearing bickering in the Barracks! Note that I am not mad at anyone in particular, just that there is so much commotion about posting. I would like to set a more comprehensive groundwork of rules right now:

1. Follow ALL rules of the Newgrounds BBS. Everyone here should know where the rules are, so I will not bother posting them.

2. Talk like you are an Elite Guard soliders and respect your superiors (very little problems here in regards to that, so no worries).

3. Do not constantly post about your stats. Stats are okay to post about sporadically, and an end of day report is welcome, of course. If you find yourself talking about your stats in every post, that is a problem. If you need an example of how to do it, view Sergeant SlashFirestorm's method of alerting us to his progress. However, he does not do it overbearingly or out of context to the current discussion. This is how to do it.

4. NO links to Barney Bunch Posts! There are too many people (old and new) that are still telling us about individual posts out there! We are Elite Guards. We are fully capable of going to the Portal and viewing UJ entrants. We do not need someone stating the obvious. This is directed to everyone that posts here, not just Elite Guards. Of course, there are exceptions to this rule, which are in rules below.

5. Posting about potential fileswaps IS allowed. If you feel you have evidence that a current UJ submission is going to be fileswapped, please alert us. Also, give us the evidence of this. The members here will evaluate the evidence and vote/whistleblow accordingly.

6. Posting about stolen flash IS allowed. As a stolen flash is not always obvious to everyone here, tell us about it. Also, please provide the evidence you have to this claim. General Nimmer is a poster child for this, as he has alerted us to stolen flash very well recently.

7. Do NOT tell other Elite Guards how to vote! There are people that will alert others to a lot of Barney Bunch submits, which is perfectly fine. However, do not post the links (as in rule number 4), and do NOT say, "Go vote 0 now!" Even though the Barney Bunch have a track record, this is not an anti-BB group. They are allowed to be judged just like every other submit, and the members here are allowed to make up their own mind on how they will vote. Telling others how to vote is insulting and against the rules here.

I think these rules really dictate common sense, which is why I was reluctant to write these before. I hope this will clear up any confusion here, and will make the Barracks less fighty as it has been recently. Note I am not accusing ANYONE of doing any of these, but further infractions of these rules will be addressed.

I would ask everyone here to calm their differences and let the past stay in the past. I do not want fellow soldiers bickering with each other, nor do I want anyone being accused of doing anything anymore. Even if such accusations are true (which I am not saying it is either way), it is a moot point. Actions from everyone from now on are what counts.

I don't like to impose rules like this, as I feel the members of the Elite Guard are an outstanding group and the Barracks members are all excellent soliders in the Barracks and on the Portal. Please do not mistake this post as scolding, as I am not like that. I am merely setting a framework to sift out the bad posts here in the future.

If anyone has questions, please feel free to ask. If need be, the rules will be tweaked, changed and added to if necessary (which I do not think at this point). I hope everyone understands me in doing this and is not upset at me. I consider all of the Barracks members my fellow soldiers and friends, and am not trying to hurt anyone. Thanks for your understanding.

In the course of looking at the file-swapped Turd of the Week, I also noticed that the Daily Feature, and all the movies submitted by that person, were also deleted! I heard they were stolen but I only got to whistle the last couple. I hope I still get the whistle points for them being manually deleted, but if not, that's fine...them being gone is what's important. Although it'd be nice if the true author submitted them...

As for short posts they are not what locks clubs, abusive behavior and clowning around is what can get threads/clubs locked...

DEFCON Update:

The DEFCON is being kept at DEFCON 3 in anticipation of possible attacks by the Barney Bunch or our anti-phallic friends. Also, there are a large amount of UJ submissions for this hour, which signifies a greater potential for enemies on the Portal.

Not bad, Sergeant. I myself achieved around 140 B/P today, which has put me at least 120 B/P ahead of schedule. I am not moving up the schedule, though, as I am going away for a day tomorrow and will undoubtedly be sparse in my Portal protection. New Years is another day like this, so must use the 120 B/P buffer to maintain my schedule. After New Years I will see if I can shift my schedule up a day.

Seems fishy, Sergeant. I do not think you can see specifically who votes on what in the Portal, even if you have a flash submitted. I have submitted a flash myself, and do not see this in the GG menu. I could be wrong, though. Anyone else know if this is possible to check (without reviews, of course)?

Right, sir. However, it is the two-line "Hey, here's a BB submit" posts that concern me, as they are definately controversial and could get us in trouble. Also, when it comes to "short posts," it is obvious that Praporshchik Major_Punk was referring to "short posts that don't say anything or state the obvious," not just any post. Indeed, sir, you are a perfect example of the different. You have indeed have used a small number of words in all your posts, sir, yet you always "say a lot" in your posts. It is not the size of the post that counts, but the content.

that is right, but the Dutch People Crew was locked somewhere in the 200. but then again that particular thread was a spam club and in the early days i got most members banned because of their racist remarks. once a club as a decent size only admins can lock it. This club can only be locked by an admin.

and that just before i was going to post my stats for the first time.
anyway the final countdown has begun. soon there'll be a EGSC in the barracks. in fact it will take less as 100 b/p something i can do in a day or two, so i'm on schedule , maybe even a bit ahead of it. my aim is to get EGSC 1/1/06, so unless i screw up i'll be the first EGSC of 06

i think that unless you take screenshots of the portal like, every 5 mins it's very hard to discover proof of fileswapping.

yeah i have my moments, like the past few days, when i discover a couple of stolen entries in a row. Ffor me are stolen entries, obvious or not, absolute priorities. it's a question of intellectual property, and even if you give up commercial rights (wich you do not by submitting to NG) you still have to be mentioned as the author. it's a question of respect.
sometimes i find proof that it was stolen, sometimes i do not because i forgot the original name/author. but i allways do the most i can to make sure that such bastards get their account deleted.
