i think that unless you take screenshots of the portal like, every 5 mins it's very hard to discover proof of fileswapping.

Well, sir, I'm not talking about post-fileswap evidence. Usually names like "DREW PICKLES POOPY POOP" gives it away, sir. I mean if a person sees a potential fileswap and has evidence to prove it, they can post it. Here are a few examples of evidence:
- Username with previous fileswaps
- Flash that has passed judgement more than once and is known to be the cover before the swap
- Profile info (some people give it away too easily)
- Other evidence (one time, someone put in "Sound by Drew", which is quite a giveaway...)

This is what I mean, sir. It of course can be just a hunch, as long as evidence is there. We can of course objectively judge it for ourselves.

yeah i have my moments, like the past few days, when i discover a couple of stolen entries in a row. Ffor me are stolen entries, obvious or not, absolute priorities. it's a question of intellectual property, and even if you give up commercial rights (wich you do not by submitting to NG) you still have to be mentioned as the author. it's a question of respect.
sometimes i find proof that it was stolen, sometimes i do not because i forgot the original name/author. but i allways do the most i can to make sure that such bastards get their account deleted.

99 measly points. Pfft. Portal was kinda slow throughout the day anyhow. I should hit Elite Guard Staff Sergeant either in the late-night hours or early tomorrow. I also blame my horrendously crappy computer...several times throughout the day I had to totally reboot the damn thing. I believe the cause is indeed the stupid AOL security center I downloaded, in the foolish belief that it would make a crappy thing less crappy (I use IE for NG, but AOL for mail and such). That thing is getting uninstalled the second I find a firewall to replace it (I don't trust the basic Windows firewall...)
Ah, it's New Year's Eve! It'll be nice knowing that I'll be entering the new year as an Elite Guard Staff Sergeant...I started out the year as a pathetic little citizen. And I'd be a much higher rank if I didn't neglect my account the first year or so I had it, and didn't take that few-month break during the summer...I'd also have a significantly higher level...:grumble: New Year's Resolution: Elite Guard Supreme Commander by '07! 100+ points a day, 365 days, already have about 4 k under my belt....I can do it!

If you have SP2, the Windows Firewall isn't that bad, Sergeant...otherwise you can get Zone Alarm for free.

it can be intresting to make a list of recidivist fileswappers. but i think that we're tredding on dangerous ground there. I mean, what if the files aren't swapped and you contribute to the deletion of a legit entry? i think that it's very dangerous to strike pre-fileswap. you have to judge the quality of a submission and not the author's intention.

So as my Christmas Break begins to draw to a close, I see that I have gained, as of the beginning of the vacation, 668 B/P points. This is approximately 18.22% of my total B/P since I joined newgrounds. And I didn't even add in the fifty or so I imagine I got the FRIDAY that my vacation fully began, or the ones I'll get later on today or within the next two days. I think this is a sign that I will be able to attain an Officer rank before too much longer.

I was nominated for first Lieutenant but rejected so I made Elite Guard Second Lieutenant… to think I joined here on Master Sergeant… Actually out of the recent list I passed a lot more places and am gonna start checking on the B/P rank 51+ thread…

Of course, sir. However, certain telltale signs (such as a flash with a history of fileswapping) coupled with other smaller signs (such as the "audio by drew" and malicious profile hints) could be a strong correlation towards a potential fileswap. I personally would not suggest such a thing unless I found strong evidence towards my case. I believe prudence in actions like this is an important thing to remember as you have pointed out, sir. As important as it is to stop fileswapping, it is all the more important to protect the innocent.

Well, sir, I believe that you are indeed highly knowledgeable about the Portal and are one well-qualified for a position here. I would petition you for the Barracks Portal Violations Officer, in charge of monitoring Portal violations which fall under the whistle-blowing category. Your prudence to act on potential innocents makes you perfect for the role, as well as your willingness to strike when necessary.

Your duties would be simple: keep reporting stolen flash and whatnot on the Portal, providing the evidence as you always do. Also, you would be in charge of forseeing other people's posts about Barney Bunch and potential stolen flash. If you see it necessary, you would make a judgement call either way on these posts, saying whether the person is valid or invalid in their post. Of course, you would be ordering Barracks members to vote or whistleblow, but your expert judgement would help make credible recommendations for the members here.

Naturally, this would be an important role, as we have many people who still post about Barney Bunch and others, which is against the rules here as you know. Your assistance in my enforcing this rule would be very helpful, sir. Also, like I said, your expert recommentations on claims against particular flash would help us all.

I feel you would be perfect for this position, sir, and hope you choose to accept it. However, if you do not want to, it is completely understandable, as Elite Guard Generals are very busy with their duties. We'll understand, sir. I eagerly await your reply, sir!

Just in case anybody misses this, there is a flash currently in the portal, called "Sniper Quiz", that is currently a semi-decent flash. But the authors have both submitted BB movies before (one is named Nazi Barney, so it's not exactly some stealth manuever...). I'm not sure how we proceed on something like this, but I'd advise everyone to, at the very least, keep your eye on it. My policy is to give everything a fair vote, but I have my whistle and e-mail ready just in case.
