Okay, about the podcast... Peregrinus and Ghost_Phantom are both interested in doing the podcast. I'd like to know now if anyone else wants to take part. If I can't get these two together at once, I'll do the two segments with them seperately. Otherwise, I'd like to know who else can do it. I'd ideally like to do the podcast tomorrow past 6PM EST, so let me know if anyone else can do it.

If you do, remember I need AIM Triton installed on your computer. Also, you need a microphone (obviously), and headphones are recommended (to minimize feedback and echoes).

After downloading Triton and God knows what else, I think I'll wait till we have something that we are SURE works, before I download that too. I would suggest PalTalk, but I took that off of my computer. And I don't think it would suit our needs.

As Ghost_Phantom has said, Skype is the answer. I managed (after installing a kernel extension on my MacBook) to get Skype to work with GarageBand. You can get Skype from www.skype.com and get a free account. The program is free to use as long as you use it between computer to computer. This is because Skype can do Voice over IP phone calls, which you won't need.

Also, the good news is that Skype supports 5-person audio conferences, which allows up to 5 Barracks members (or guests) to be involved in the podcast. I am planning on actually doing the podcast tonight or tomorrow, whenever people can do it.

Here's the (modified) list of stuff you need:

- Skype 2.0 (www.skype.com) - add me (user: eaglerock) as a friend
- Microphone
- Headphones (and speakers turned off) a big plus (to minimize echoes and feedback)

I know Ghost_Phantom is 100% ready to do it, and Peregrinus has already installed Skype and might be able to join us. Anyone else is welcome to join, and let me know if you are ready so you can test. You can IM me (AIM: EagleRock14p70p) to test out Skype. You can also post here if you want.

Also, if you can't do it this time, there will be more podcasts to come, as I plan on making podcasts either weekly, bi-weekly (if it's too much for once a week), or semi-weekly (if I'm ambitious).

im in the process of downloading skype right now, so that should be done in a few minutes. ill have to try and figure it out first before i actually do anything to help with the cast. i have the headphones but cant seem to find our old mic yet. ill be on the lookout for that tomorrow after my final.

as for the 5 person extension, does that mean that only 5 people at any time can be involved in the cast? or does it just mean that 5 people can be operating in it while others can listen in? just curious on that point.

if it means more people can listen, id love to hear the first episode of the egb podcast as soon as possible. im getting kind of excited to see something like this. im pretty sure it will be the first of its kind in any thread on the bbs.

Actually, a podcast is unique in that respect. It is a pre-recorded and already edited Internet radio show that you download in .mp3 format (or .m4a format for Apple's AAC encoding). You can download it and listen to it whenever you want. In fact, I wll have the podcast up on http://egb.eagleworld.net and I will submit it to the iTunes Podcast Directory as well. You can get ahold of it however you want. In fact, when we record it, it won't be ready to listen to. I will have to edit it, add the intro, intermission, and outro, as well as add the music in the background. I will attempt to make it a finished product as much as I can with my limited audio skills. GarageBand should make it easy, though.

In other words, the 5 person limit is only for those recording the podcast. If I can get 5 Barracks members on the podcast, that would be awesome. For now, though, I'll settle for who can manage.
