o ok. i think i get it all now. thanks for the explanation there sir. i dont know if ill ever be able to appear on the "show" (i know. its very, very sad) but i could certainly try if you needed another member there. like i mentioned, ill try to get that mic tomorrow.

I'm not going to use a specific date and time for the podcast, so different Barracks members can take part. I'm sure there will be a time where you can participate.

but this sounds like a great idea. i hope people will listen to it, because i know i will. interested to hear the first episode. how often do you plan on recording these? once a week of so?

I did state this a bit earlier. I plan on doing it weekly. If it ends up being too much for me weekly, I'll make it bi-weekly. However, if I can do it more often, I'll probably do it semi-weekly. Also, if I can do it more often in one period of time, I'll probably do it more then to make up for the times that I can't do it as much.

As far as the listening audience, I plan on generic Newgrounds users listening to the podcast, as it'll sort of be the Barracks reaching out to others with takes on Barracks News as well as opinions and advice. Of course, there will be mentionings specifically for Barracks members, especially if we talk about Barracks news. Overall, though, there should be plenty to talk about.

I really don't know how long this podcast is going to end up being. I'm shooting for a 30-40 minute show, as that'll provide plenty of time for two segments, intermission, intro, and outro. I'll only need Barracks members to records to two segments for me, as the intro and outro are just going to be quick blurbs from me that would be no longer than two minutes. The intermission is just going to be an Audio Portal song and me giving the name. I'd love to see how it turns out, though.

I am going to be AWOL tomorrow from 0900 hours to 1900 hours to go on a small day trip. Therefore, don't expect me to be able to help protect the Portal. However, I will have the opportunity to do the podcast then. If you want to do the podcast, I suggest you try to be online at that time. I'll have my MacBook with me during the day, so I can stop in quickly if I find a hotspot.

Thanks for the interest, soldiers!

Sorry for the double-post, but I wanted to give this its own post...I hope you enjoy this one. It's a day late because I couldn't think of a damn story! Again, if you can guess which movie this is from, you get bonus points.

------------------

Major General EagleRock was on the ship with Lieutenant General Ghost_Phantom. After the daunting escape from the hands of the moderators, EagleRock sees himself sitting on this ship as a fugitive. While he has never done anything against the law before, he never saw himself as a rogue pirate of the Portal Sea. Knowing that Ghost_Phantom was the most notorious of them all, he was upset to be ther ein the first place. However, it was him that rescued him from that jail in the first place.

As EagleRock polishes his Blam Rifle, he confides in Ghost_Phantom. "When I was a lad living in England, my mother raised me by herself. When she died, I came out here, looking for my father."

"Is that so?" Ghost_Phantom responds.

"That right. At the jail, it was only after you knew my name that you were willing to help. Since that's what I wanted, I didn't press the matter. But I'm not a simpleton, Phantom. You knew my father."

"I knew 'em. Probably one of the few who knew him by his real name. Everyone else just called him Nimmer."

"Nimmer?"

"Good man. Good pirate. I swear you look just ike him."

"It's not true! He was a Supreme Commander! He was a good, respectable man here on the Portal Sea!"

"He was a Supreme Commander, but he was a bloody pirate, a scalawag."

"My father was NOT a pirate!" EagleRock raised his Blam Rifle.

Phantom repsonds, "Put it away, son. It's not worth you getting beat again..."

"You did NOT beat me. You ignored the rules of engagement! In a fair fight, you were the one that was blammed."

"Well, that's not much of an incentive for me to fight fair then, huh?" Ghost_Phantom turns the ship sharply and smacks EagleRock with the the sail. EagleRock is pulled out of the ship and over the water as he hangs onto the yard of the sail.

"Now!" says Phantom, "as long as you're just hanging there, pay attention! The only rules that really matter out here on the Portal Sea are these: what a man CAN do, and what a man CAN'T do. For instance, you can accept that your father was a pirate and a good man or you can't. But pirate is in your blood, boy, so you'll have to square with that some day. Now, for example, I can let you drown right now, but I can't bring this ship to the Clubs and Crews island all by myself...savvy?"

Ghost_Phantom swings the ship back around and the sail comes back over the ship. EagleRock drops onto the deck.

"So, " Phantom says as he offers EagleRock his blam rifle, "can you sail under the command of a pirate? Or can you not?"

EagleRock takes the rifle and ponders the situation. Thinking about his father, and how he was a Supreme Commander, he realized that what was right was not necessarily what the laws of the moderators depicted. Sometimes being unlawful was what was required to deliver what was good. He also realized something else...

...that he was a Lieutenant General.

That's an easy one. It's Pirates of the Caribbean. Congrats on making Lieutenant General. Only two more promotions to go.

Daily report

Blams: 25
Saves: 8
Total B/P: 33. Quite surprising, I thought I'd get to around 40. Then again, I was out some of the time and the portal wasn't so active for me yesterday.

Well, not much else except my B/P rank is now in the 40's,

Hey everyone,

Thanks for the congrats, and both guessers were right. I didn't exactly make it hard this time tho... :-)

As far as the podcast goes, 1900 hours EST isn't exactly good for Ghost_Phantom, as that's 0200 hours where he lives...lol. Can some people do it 0200 hours next morning (EST)?

If I come back and many people can do it at 7PM and not 2AM, I may do one segment with Ghost_Phantom and one with the rest.

I have to run now, unfortunately. Be back at 7!

no we don't whistle flash for that reason unless you think it is going to pass judgement and that is only done if the first movie got blammed with a real high score like 1.45 or something like that. all that does is add more work to wade's plate which is already big enough due to some people not reading the submitting rules or some pricks who want to spam NG with mutalation flash. just let it get blammed and the guy will get a 15 ban portal ban

Well the Podcast thing sounds interesting so I'll probably listen to that.

This is a bit late but.. EOD Report (From Yesterday)

103 Total B/P.. Just made it over the 100 mark yesterday. But more important than that is the fact that Detroit won the game so they're still alive in the series now we need to win in Miami.

And what a block by Ben Wallace on Shaquille O Neal he threw him to the floor that's a block.

The podcasts are sounding great. I was unaware of such things until they were brought up here. It sounds like they could be very helpful. The fact that they can be easily downloaded should make them ready to go whenever people have the time to get to them. Thanks for taking all the time to set them up. I am sure all the editing and finalizing will be some work, but well worth it. It'll be great to see these grow and become a great new extension of the barracks.

Yeah, I watched that game last night as well (beside flipping over and watching the Tigers/Yankees on ESPN 2). They played defense like the way they know how. If they take that same mind set down to Miami, they're going back to the Palace with the series knotted at 3-3.

Back on track somewhat. Just thought I'd bring this to attention, not that it's important or anything. I noticated that somehow we lost 4 pages. We were at page 354, but now we have dropped back to 350. My guess is that a mod went through and deleted a bunch of spam related posts. That's the only thing I can think of that happened.

Makes sense. For you especially it should be good with your time difference so off from the rest of us. If nothing else it should help not having to worry about the fact that there is typically no one around when some of us are on. Btw, great to see you with your old sig. I was starting to miss it.

Thanks, but it was that little word "Capo" that kept me from using it, now I'm free to use it, and the Barracks would love to hear that the Mafia bosses are also enticed by the Podcast idea and will have one of their own no later than I actually learn how it's done.

Makes a lot of sense. That was quite the mess there for a while. It's good to see we can put that behind us. It's great to see this podcast idea taking off. Sounds like it will go farther than expected. I'll start looking into the whole things and see if maybe I can help you out phantom. I can usually pick things up pretty quick. Let me know if you need anything.

That is really odd. Four pages is a lot to lose. I had not noticed that until you brought it up. It would be good if a mod did clean things up a little though. They probably found our 300 page celebration. Btw, do you know the final score of that yanks/tigers game? I caught a little bit of it, but missed most.

I assume that when I reach Elite Guard Supreme Commander, I'm "honorably discharged" from the Barracks? Or, is he just a nusance, just asking Lieutenant General Ghost_Phantom.

Ninjastar is right... I was reffering only to BS ( could be taken both ways ). Considering how the likes of me , Eagle , Punisher and Joker race to get to that rank I doubt that rank means any one will be dismissed.
