A question to Commanders: What do we do with "shitposts" that are clearly spam and not simply low quality, but are not in the spam category? Help drive them to the obits, or any specific form of report?

Submission guidelines:

Do not submit low quality entries with the intent to give users "free blam points."

Examples below. At least they're tagged shitpost, I guess...

(The latter also is a bit disturbing since we have unsuspecting minors - and adults - browsing the site who might fall for it if there is actual data collection involved.)

Whatever category something is in, always vote based on the content. Sometimes, a "shitpost" isn't. Sometimes, an "Epic Submission" isn't.

These guidelines allow us to act against users who need action taken against them. However, if we remove every crap submission, no one would get Blam points, and it negates the need for a voting system. Also, users get a short, temporary ban automatically via the system when they get multiple submissions blammed. That doesn't happen when they get mod removed.

Asking for personal info isn't cool. Maybe goes nowhere, but maybe not. Removed.

Yeah, don't worry, this soldier still remembers the teachings by DM about overblamming as well as excessive reporting. But I guess fellow officers can benefit from this information as well. Thanks for taking the time to highlight this once again!

I'm still adding some to my list, but I'm thinking of forwarding it to a moderator instead of casually posting it on the forums for obvious reasons. The BBS is fully public.

Harassment is best reported via DMs with evidence so NG moderation can take care of it (adding that part to make sure it does not sound like backseat modding). While users can be triggered with mere submissions, they can also be triggered by attacking them in reviews (usually reported) or author replies to submission reviews. Obit attacks may also cause this, stealth edits aren't exactly invisible to anyone.
