There used to be one where users shared abusive reviews that they found so everybody could get whistle points by flagging the same reviews. It was locked years ago, though, and possibly removed entirely because I can no longer find it. In a way, it was a good call, though, or else everybody would have a deity whistle without having to really earn it.
Good call since people were abusing it, but now abusive reviews are becoming as much of a problem as they were in the days that thread was extant. I do remember the thread you're talking about, now that you mention it.
I don't see abusive reviews being a problem, but maybe I'm not seeing a lot of the action. Useless reviews on the other hand, though, oh holy shit. I would love to be a mod just to remove reviews flagged as useless because nobody else does it. There are thousands of them and they're just there to waste space.
I think the whole whistle system needs a bit of an overhaul, honestly. They already removed whistling flashes. Either that functionality should be reinstated, or the current whistling function revamped, so that whistling doesn't negatively affect your whistle unless the mod marks the content as harmless, rather than how it now degrades the whistle if a mod doesn't get around to the review in a certain amount of time or if not enough others also whistle it.
Well, hey, if the whistling ability comes back it takes out the EGB's purpose. It's been gone since the redesign, so I don't think it's coming back anytime soon or at all, since the EGB exists. This club is pretty great and I don't want it to be left behind any time soon.
Also, the only way your whistle can be affected negatively is if you flag something and a mod clears it, so I'm not sure what you're talking about there.
Maybe have a review flag put the review in question on a list for mods to pop in and look over. That'd be simple -- unless it already does that.
It does. :P But they should fix it so one flag makes a review pop up for the mods to see. It takes a few flags on one review to actually become noticeable for the mods to check out, which is stupid. I mean, in a way I can see that it makes less reviews pop up as a good thing because there are reviews out there that only get flagged as abusive once by someone who doesn't know what they're doing or something like that. Nonetheless, I think they should change it anyways.
Cannot wait for the day I'm at Spr. Commander and maxxed voting power. Those soundless, effortless tests won't be getting NG's ad revenue on my watch, and if we set a good example, others will follow.
I hope I reach that rank someday, too. And yes, hopefully others will vote better someday. Sadly, though, a lot of voters will probably just continue to think, 'fuck voting how I should, I'll just 5 everything, so I can get points and don't have to play or watch anything.'
