The Portal is very fast right now...when I came home, there was 21 UJ submissions! I probably missed so many flash from 1300-1650 hours it's insane. However, despite me being out for so long, I already have 85 B/P. I'll surely rack in today, but I know a whole bunch of you will trump me by far.

You really didn't miss much. This started at least a half hour ago. Takes longer than that to get the blams and protects going so you didn't miss anything in fact last couple hours been really slow up until now. Fun.

Anyway, the DEFCON is at DEFCON 3 based on this behavior. The only reason it is not DEFCON 2 is because there is no signs of malicious flash and it seems like just a normal busy day. Howvever, DEFCON 3 assumes an attack can come at any time, so please be wary and watch the Portal carefully.

Warhammer with the order. Executing command on Commander EagleRock. Shall carry out operation until further notice.

Am I not pushing that zero as often as I should be? Something's definately up. Gotta change my ways.
Actually, Sergeant, I know plenty of people who are trying to get more protects to raise it in comparison with the blams they have. I know I try to keep at least a 1:2 ratio of protects to blams. I'm slightly under at this point, but there are plenty of protectable flash UJ right now, which should help my ratio.

Interesting. Well if its the same I can't complain I've just seen so many people with higher blams then protects but if my blams are at the same with my protects then let it be. It is what it is.

Well, for some strange reason I can not load a single flash, my computer is very slow today. I guess since everyone else is doing it (hehheh), I'll post my voting method too.

0-I vote 0 only a movies that are either ment to offend or obviously have had only 10 minutes of work put into them. Movies that are a flashing screen or something, with the words "Fuck you"

1-My most common vote, because most things submitted to the portal suck. If I can tell the author put effort into it, and actually tried, but it really isn't good at all, I will vote 1. Sometimes with these I will leave a reveiw saying how it could be improved.

2-I give out 2's to the people who's movies really aren't great, but I think they are good enough for newgrounds. Alot of times when I vote a 2, it is to movies that most would give 0's or 1's too. Maybe thats why I don't have a high b/p rate, =)

3-Most common protect vote. Not great, but I enjoyed it. I can tell effort was put into it, and it either had- good animation, good graphics, or really good storyline.

4-A combination or good graphics and well animated, or maybe I just liked it for no reason. I do give out alot of 4's, but not often to UJ movies, but sometimes I will see a good one I give out the 4 too.

5-Ooooh, the 5 ! I give this out to movies that I really like. Good graphics, nice menu, good storyline. It probably doesn't raise the score much, but I think its cool when you see a movie UJ, and think "Hey this rocks! Five!", and then it has the blue score.

My general rules are that no matter how rude the author is in the message ("Hey guys free protect points! Give it a five!" "YOU SUCK AAARRGHHSHHSJJ!") I will judge the movies, not the author. I really don't pay attention to size, but usually, if a movie is like 0.5 kb, its a blam. I remember the originaly version of inglor's "The portal guardian", was about 5kb, he got it to upload from a different site, in the window and ng format.

Anyway, thats how I vote.

*salutes*

Ok, I am back from a one day BBS ban because I accidently posted a reply on a spammy thread in the General thread before I realized it. On the good side, I am more than half way through 10000+ protection clubs now as I notched my 5000th protection point last night. Talking about the b/p technics. I agree most of what Ghost said. However, I personally do not see size as a factor for me to blam/protect. I have seen THOUSANDS of crappy moives with HUGE (>4000kb) file sizes. I have also seen a lot of great flashes with mini sizes. What amazed me to the extrem is that an author once designed an excellent flying game (It has something to do with collecting bananas and defeating the King Kong.) with a size of 0.1 kb. I mean, 0.1 kb! The game flew past the judgement with a score around 4. So the bottom line is: do not let the size becomes a factor to bias your vote. Ignore the size, (so that you can vote fair.) watch the whole moive and then vote.

They're there all right but I don't see them. Care to point them out. I'm not the greatest when it comes to identifying file swaps but if something is stolen then that I can differentiate but fileswaps I'm not so good at identifying.

I can't see any file swaps, but there is certainly some trash passing today:

this... and this are the same submission under different names, and both have passed.

This looks like a fileswap, but is in fact the same submission with a different name, and also our good Barracks member Bahamut- included against his wishes.

This is again a file that has passed, but had a name change. Again it isn't portal worthy (or atleast not in my opinion)

All in all not a good day, not least because I voted to blam all of these and those points are now gone :(. Have picked up over 100 points so far despits that though, so not all bad!

First off, it's DEFCON with an N, Private. Also, DEFCON is taken from the US Army DEFCON system which stands for DEFense CONdition. For further information about the DEFCON System, please consult the Barracks Forums.

Thank you for your dedication, Sergeant. Unfortunately, I am not a Commander yet, even though I wish to be one.

That is the style that you have, Sergeant. Many people have way more blams than protects, but they wish they didn't. It makes them seem overly critical. Your B/P ratio shows a very light voting style, which can only be boasted by few. Be proud!

Of course, Private! It hasn't been mentioned for a while in the Barracks, so it's about time it was explained again.

Do not belittle your achievement. Every rank up is another chance for you to advance towards supreme commander. The Journey is long and hard but the result is bliss I have been told. Congradulations Biff on your astounding achievement. You're not a private. You're first class. Sit up hear in first class; I think you'll like it better then coach.

Donthurtme reporting in:

Another very good day for me today, my third 100 plus haul in a week. Currently at 137 points, with a further 7 under judgement at the moment! All of that leaves me less than 300 points from my next rank up, easily obtainable this week I hope.

Also made 10 posts, and one review, with reply, so a good day all round.

Good luck to all those still hunting, it's coming up to 2AM here so it's time to hit the bunks.

Have you checked the date on that Sir? I don't think I'll do music again. It sounds quite military like now that I think of it.

Biff777, be proud of every single b/p points you earned and you will find it enjoyable to rank up. By the way, I occationally found out that you gave an all-10 review to a HappyLeetGost spammy moive. I assumed that you voted 5 as well based on your review. I know that the Gost moives always pass because of mass votings. I watched the moive, there is NO WAY that it deserves a 5 and an all-10 review if you vote and review fairly. Can you explain why you left the all-10 review?

It is certainly a spammy Clock related moive. True, you can have your own opinion, but do you really think that the moive deserves straight 10's? Or you just vote 5 to increase its chance of passing since you knew that it would probably pass anyway? As Elite Guards, we do not vote 5 on flashes to make it pass if you know that they do not deserve 5. So let me, do you think that the moive deserves an all-10 review from you? If the answer is yes, it is ok. On a side note, I am sorry to say that X-Naut submitted a terrible flash AGAIN. (A NICE picture of a Toad, no animation.) :( Why, X-Naut, why?

Well, again, I'm flattered to be called Commander, and I like the sentiment. However, "Commander" leads to the "Supreme Commander," the rank of the Elite Guard. A more accurate name would be Chief, as I am the Chief Barracks Officer.

Thank you commander. Everyone has their style. Find the one thats right for you and stick to it. Thank you sir for your inspiring words of consultance.

You COULD think of it that way, or you could think of it in a better light. Remember, a promotion is still a promotion, PFC! Congratulations!

I'm glad to see such nice conversation in the Barracks! The arrival of our new members has certainly spiced up the conversations a bit! Great to have you here, soldiers!
