I've been keeping an eye on many b/per's, I'd consider significant and I noticed he hasnt gained a single b/p point since at least wednesday and hes missed at least 2 deposits. Maybe he was just a program that has now become unplugged.

Eagle, from my observation, most of the spammers have the same BBS sign compared with -Tim-. I believe that he was pretty mad at the fact that his flash was blammed. I am almost 100% sure that those spammers with the same BBS sign he has are his alts. As a level 11 user, he knew the consequences of spamming, so he used his alts to spam here. Eagle, don't blam on my girlfriend, like you said, she was
just trying to help. In addition, Ghost posted a simlar reminder. Personally, I would not
mind if people here remind our members to stay cool. There is a chance that some members will be pissed off and argue with the spammers, so a reminder could be useful. At least, the issue is solved for now. I hope that it will not bother anyone's good mood since it is Friday night. Salutes!

True Dream_of_Duke but I haven't seen it happen as much as it does in the police department (the members losing their tempers) but from what I have seen no one has paid any attention to these spammers or started flamming them. most of the Elite guards have longer fuses them the a lot of other users. remember we have delt with spammers in the past and no one lost their heads in the past from what I saw everyone just ignored them.

No it wouldn't. What would be helpful is for people to not talk about or talk to the spammers at all. Let me remind you that it was her post that spinned off some of the spamming. Granted, she wasn't the only one, but that doesn't mean that she wasn't part of the problem. In the future, refrain from such posts. If you really need to say something like this, there's the Barracks Forums. Post there instead.

Ok, Eagle...if you say so, I will remind her to "reply" the spammers. But NGPD members seem to appreciate what she said there. Anyway, Like Slash said, the portal is still on fire despite the time which will probably make you and him smiling. I may be able to boost my weekly average to 45-50 per day because of the current boost. I don't have to go to school tomorrow which will make me a late bird tonight. when you blam flash, some people get upset. and some of those upset people don't seem able to cope with it and they start flaming the group they hold responsible for the blamming of their precious flash.

my advice is not only not to respond to spammers but unless asked do not tell people that you voted 0. and when asked make sure to point out that you voted as an individual and tell as polite as possible why you voted 0. treat them with respect.

DEFCON Update:

The Portal is showing true signs of strength...I sense a 150+ B/P day for me (or, more accurately, a 200+ day for you-know-who...), so I am raising the DEFCON to DEFCON 3 early.

If the Portal is strong enough, I may even raise to DEFCON 2 simply because the surge will be so out of season and random. Of course, a lot of UJ flash alone isn't enough for DEFCON 2, so this will be an exception because of the circumstances.

Since I am celebrating Valentine's Day today with my fiance, I may not be able to monitor the Portal much today and post the DEFCON Updates. Therefore, for today the DEFCON changes automatically to DEFCON 2 if the number of UJ flash gets up to 25 or more. It automatically drops back down to DEFCON 3 if the Portal drops below 15 UJ flash. Keep alert for any malicious flash or mass-voters on the Portal today, as today might be a breeding-ground for certain groups with malicious intent.

I would like to reinforce the policy we have here of not responding to spammers, no matter whether you are a Barracks member of an NGPD HQ member. As Dream_of_Duke noted, some Barracks members _did_ mention the spammer, which I find it only fair to address, especially because of what I said yesterday to him and his girlfriend.

I appreciate everyone that tried to help yesterday, but know that mentioning ANYTHING about the spammer in the thread just hurts the situation, even with the absolute best of intent.

If you want to say something about the spammer do the following:

- First, check the Barracks Forums to see if people are conversing about it.
- Post all you want about it in the Barracks Forums, but keep your posts classified.
- You can post here about the spammer if you want, but only say "Members, please check the Barracks Forums" so that members know to check for your posts there.
- If you want to notify a mod, please check the Forums to see if someone has done so already and which mods have been notified.
- You can notify a different mod if you want, but don't send e-mails to mods already notified. I want to respect their inboxes and not flood them with a bunch of e-mails about the same thing.

Okay, that's about all I had to say. I apologize again for being harsh to the NGPD, but I thought I was clear about not responding to spammers no matter what. In the future, please excercise the above. Thanks for your ears!

hot_and_charming was reminding people not to respond to spammers but that account itself was doing it. I'm surprised hot_and_charming's posts weren't deleted.

Reminds me of a highschool fight and you always have that one teacher just blowing her whistle ever 5 seconds.
