Hey guy, what's up, may somebody tell me what I've missed those days??(I know, I know, Pimp's lvl 60 now :) )

So, I'm here to explain you why I was (and will be) inactive those days, my 10 years old cousin died last Friday, she had an ultra rare cancer, she died because of her kidneys, they stopped working...

Also, my dad has kidneys problems, his kidneys are working only 10% of what they should work, he HAS to eat healthy things, or he'll have to do hemodialysis...

Ugh. I don't know what to do. :'(

Awww damnit that sucks.

Is getting a kidney transplant an option? If so then ask your dad to push for a transplant. After all... you only need at least 1 kidney to survive.

If that's not an option then he will probably have to stick with the healthy diet...

Hmm, I don't know if you know this, but the transplanted kidney lasts only 7 years... So, he'd be nice only for 7 years, then, he'd have to do the same thing he's doing now, again...

I think he'll do the hemodialysis...

Sorry about the chit-chat guys...

And that's making no mention of the daily bucketload of immunosuppressant drugs you have to take after having an organ transplant. Or the waiting list of about 3-4 years if he's lucky for a suitable donor to become available (most of the time it can be anywhere from 5 - 10 years on that damn list).

The stupid thing is, the technology used in a haemodialysis machine isn't particularly complex. You probably could miniaturise it to the point of it fitting into the space left from removing a real kidney (i.e.: making a haemodialysis implant that works like a real kidney, but without the rejection and limited lifespan issues). Fuck knows why no-one's trying to do it, but even if they were, the result would probably be so expensive most national health services simply wouldn't be able to afford enough of them to go round.

And I can totally understand not being here because of cousins dying. I can't think of many things that could possibly suck more.

Hey fellas, I know I'm not in this club but this guy has some abusive reviews, the ones where he votes 0. I'm not sure about the one work reviews though, are they abusive or just useless?

Response to The Elite Guard Barracks 2010-08-23 11:16:11

Yeah, he'd have to take A HELL LOT of medicines after the transplant, he'll have to take 'em for the rest of his life.

Also, did you guys see how many B/P points you got in Clock Day?? If I'm not wrong, I scored something close to 300... Not too much.

While I appreciate you wanting to help out, I must point you to the fact that this is not Rage's thread, and we do not post links to abusive reviews in the thread, as per the lock message of Rage's thread itself (read: "do not recreate this thread or its purpose"). We're only interested in abusive flashes here, as they're considerably less easy to mis-flag and cause the admin team a headache if and when wrongly flagged.

Also, they're all already gone, so meh.

I'm not sure about the one word reviews though, are they abusive or just useless?

Grey area. Some mods will delete them, others won't. Ergo; not worth the risk of flagging.

****POSSIBLE STOLEN FLASH ALERT****

Flash in question:

Original:

http://www.gamesofdesire.com/arcade/ange l-girl-full-version/ (NSFW) this was put up 6/29/2010.

I'm on the fence about this one because the person who submitted the one to NG has 3 other submissions, 2 of which have scores of 1.87 or less. The other has a score of 2.54 or higher.

Thoughts anyone?

I was just wondering, even though I'm not officially a member of the club (or unofficially, for that matter), does it bother anyone if I post here occasionally, just to take place in conversations now and again, so long as I don't make any statements that imply that I am part of the EGB or that I represent it? Or would you prefer if I just left until I am ready to sign up again? I'm fine with the latter, so don't worry about my feelings or anything, I won't hold any grudges, I just would like to make sure that I'm not overstepping my boundaries.

Response to The Elite Guard Barracks 2010-08-24 18:02:07

Well while it's not my place to make the final decision one way or the other, the EGB does have an open door policy. I suppose as long as you hang here your posting habits could and hopefully will be influenced by the rest of us.

I'm neutral on this issue though. So it doesn't bother me one way or the other. I'd probably just wait to see what Eagle or Byte have to say about it Scar.

I see no reason why you can't post around here on occasion, as long as the post count is reasonable and the posts are of good quality, with no "post +1-ers." For example, alerting us of malicious flash or suspected stolen flash are perfectly okay. Also, you can feel free to jump in on the occasional conversation as well. However, if the posts get to be too much or are of poor quality, I might ask you to refrain from posting for a little bit. With a bit of common sense, though, I doubt that will be necessary.

Hey guys, I'm posting to let you know that I'm still alive. Even though I haven't posted in a while, I still read this thread daily so I'll be here if you need me (not that I am important or anything). I've been inactive because I've been kind of depressed and bored lately, so I haven't been motivated to do anything (either here or IRL)... But I've gotten out of my routine over the last few days and done some more different, interesting things, and I feel better now :)

BTW, I wasn't very active on clockday (I watched Inception that day, which was awesome), and because of that and two more days of complete inactivity I've fallen behind on B/P gain. Still, I've B/Ped a lot and my goal is to make it to the top 5 gainers list of the roster. I'm only 20 points away of DumbassDude, and I've got 5 days left...

Thanks a lot to ByteSlinger, whose awesome EGB website lets me track all of the members' B/P gain daily. This has been a constant motivation for me to keep B/Ping every day. I know the stats aren't important, but if it wasn't for them a lot of us wouldn't B/P as much as we do :)

Been lurking for a few months, after all the whistle points this thread has helped me get I figure I'll pay some back.

****** STOLEN FLASH ALERT ******

http://www.newgrounds.com/portal/view/54 6521

Somehow I doubt that this guy is affiliated with the Adventure Quest people in any way, shape, or form. Plus his upload appears to be just a loader flash for something else. Even his only other submission ever is flagged for administrative review.

Ack! You just reminded me of that "How to spot a stolen flash" thing I had in the old forums... which got buried with the closing of them (and the opening of the new one). Apparently, it was helpful to a few people who were having problems telling if something's stolen or not.

Eagle, are you still able to move stuff from that old forum, or should I copy-paste it from the NGPD forum again?

Response to The Elite Guard Barracks 2010-08-25 22:14:12

Well Ismael92 this years Clock Crew day was good but not as many submissions as other years .My b/p on that day was 41/bp. Not a bad amount otherwise my b/p been slow need to get more enthusiastic about going onto the portal. I think the flashes being reported here are being flagged which is very good. It would be cool to see that thing about spotting stolen flashes. I think Madness day is the 22nd of September?

Got another one for you guys:

****** STOLEN FLASH ALERT ******

This appears to be a decompiled flash loader for a larger flash loaded from another site. It looks kinda like the player widget from a youtube-like site. To top it off it even has "Powered by Sothink" (a flash decompiler) blinking in the upper corner. His profile's lack of affiliation just makes it even more dubious. Somehow I doubt that this is even close to legit.

Response to The Elite Guard Barracks 2010-08-27 11:20:01

Stolen flash:

Google search for "Intel rocket man".

Assuming the copyright notice on the flash itself wasn't obvious enough.

Hi, everyone.

Sorry about being offline - had a crazy work shift for a client, which involved doing a lot of traveling to a bunch of stored to reprogram and reconfigure 28 point-of-sale systems. I managed to grab a few minutes now to catch up, but I'll be back at the home office by Saturday evening. Everything is fine - I'll fill in all the silly details later as to what I had to contend with. Just spent more time behind the steering wheel than the keyboard - sheesh!

Good to see things haven't got too crazy while I was away. But now that I'm back - let the chaos resume!

Hey guys, it's been a while since I've come onto Newgrounds (roughly a year), but I figured I'd drop in and say hello. Hopefully some of you remember me because there are some names here I recognize. Seeing as how I was once a member I figured it would be ok if I just stopped in to say hello.

Looking at hopefully coming back to Newgrounds sometime soon. Maybe there's still a nice place in your EGB for me to call home again? I sure hope so.

Hope all is well with everyone.

Luff,

Stolen:

Original:

Evidence:

The person who submitted it here has no other flash submissions to his name and he joined the 22nd of May. So, that's a pretty sketchy submission. Also, if you click "Info" in the game, the year it was copyrighted was 2007.

Hello AnalPenguinFarming you would have been like maybe level 37 or so but you missed lots of deposits. You are remarked on for doing excellent reviews. I was shocked to find on NG Log that I had 17 blams, but I have not blammed that much. My only idea of how this happened was that when I voted on the flashes in the past when they got removed I got a blsm point. But I'm still puzzled anyone else find this. This is the second time it happened. Looking in the obituaries maybe some of Splatter stuff was the blams I got.

You're not the only one to notice: Yesterday's obituary holds the answer. Some people got over 100 blams out of this latest deletion-spree. I must've gotten like 80 or so myself. Yay 4 free blam points! :D

Hi, everyone! Well, I'm back at the home office once again, recuperating from some serious road trips in the past week. Good news is that everything is working just dandy - had to update hardware and device drivers for 28 point-of-sale systems for a client who decided that this would be a perfect time to jump from XP to W7. Fortunately, most of his stores were running the same basic hardware, so about 85% of it was "cookie-cutter" upgrades. The other 15% was oddball hardware, goofy replacement network components and a few DIY patches that had to be reworked. Ah, the life of the electronic janitor! (cleaning up other people's computer messes)

Anyways, I'm relaxing tonight, catching up on my Newgrounds life - and the first wonderful surprise I saw was over 100+ blams in my stats - wow! Looks like all of those crap flashes I flagged on Clock Day got clobbered after all. See, EagleRock - I told you I was doing the right thing! I feel good about that - it was a nice present to open when I logged in today!

I see that a few members who had been MIA for a while popped in to say hello - good to see that they're doing well - and I hope they post a bit more frequently.

Note to Pantywipe: Your kid is SOOOOOOOOO adorable! And, I love his attitude! I wish you and your family much happiness and health - and many, many years of great memories.

To RogerBK: I am so very sorry to hear about the loss of your young cousin to cancer - and that your Dad is having problems, too. I do feel for you, my friend, as I have lost many loved ones to cancer - and I am a cancer survivor myself. It's a horrible thing to have in your body, and fighting it off with chemotherapy and radiation and other treatments can be worse than the disease itself. Although there are no real words that I can say that will make it all better, please know that you and your family are in my thoughts and prayers, and I hope your Dad's problems can be relieved with more treatments. Stay strong - and please get yourself checked out as well - this could be a genetic failure in your family, and I don't want you to be caught off-guard if it decides to pick on you next.

To Ismael92: Thanks for the kind words about the stat modules on the website. Glad you like them. Anything else I can do for you (or anyone else in the EGB) please let me know. I like to contribute whenever I can.

To AnalPenguinFarming: Geez, if we don't lock the doors at night, ANYONE can walk in here now! Just kidding - good to see you back again. If you are serious about reinstatement into the EGB, please PM EagleRock - my guess is that if you left in good standing and continued to keep up the high level of quality posts and reviews that you've always done, this should be easy. But EagleRock will decide if it's automatic, or if you need to be re-voted back as active. Either way, we'd love to have you back as an active member!

To Lizz: Hello, my friend! Good to see some more posts from you. I did get your PM - congrats on doing so well on your grade scores! I knew it was in you - I always had faith in you that you can do whatever you set your mind to - and I was right! And congrats on 6K+ posts! You are a talkative litle bloke now, aren't you?!?!

Anyway, enough of my wall-of-text. Time to get back to work on the Portal - see you all there!

Initially, I was going to reply with the standard "here are the rules" wall-of-text to see if you understand and agree to abide by our rules and regulations. But before I did that, I did some poking around on your posts and reviews - and found something very disturbing. Less than 2 days ago, you posted a reply on the NGPD forum:

At 8/27/10 09:50 PM, Sheizenhammer wrote:
Seriously though, I do find it annoying when people respond to roll calls and then never post in the thread again. Hell, half the EGB is comprised of people who are 'technically' members, just because they all responded to the roll call months ago, and have yet to show any real interest in actually being here. Makes me wish there was a minimum post limit (like, 10 every month or so) on membership in there. That way, we'd soon see how many are really in it for the community and not just for the sake of being on a list they don't really care about.

(Your reply:)

I dislike the EGB only for one reason. Activity. The thread is never active or at least as much as this one and there is really no love in it just a bunch of guys who show off there B/P amount. The club is not really to my interest.

But related to the topic im ranking out this weekend.

(end of post fragment)

So, how do you expect me to take your request seriously when you have clearly stated in another forum that "the club is not really to my interest" and that "we are just a bunch of guys who show off their B/P amount"?

In defense of the EGB, although some of us are high-ranking with deity whistles, it is not that which drives us. We are here to help keep Newgrounds on an even keel by voting fairly and identifying those flashes and reviews that clearly violate the rules of the site. We are not a mass-voting group, and we don't target any body or any group because of their history. Maybe we don't "chat it up" as much as the NGPD, but that's because it's not what you talk about - it's what you do! I have about 625 posts to my name in over 4 years of being on Newgrounds. The vast majority are detailed responses to situations, but others are more recreational. Not too many +1 or 1-liners here. I don't need to talk about myself or add to insignificant chatter - instead, I spend my time watching and voting on flashes and reading reviews - and letting my work speak for itself. If I see a problem forming, I notify the barracks. I do my job, and I do it well and proudly.

You, on the other hand, besides having an obvious immediate negative opinion about this club, seem to have more than your share of short posts across multiple forums. I am going to save us all a lot of trouble and just answer you here and now:

Your request to join the EGB has been denied.

Oh, and one last thing - watch the "bunch of guys" sexist line - there are women in the EGB, and I happen to be one of them.

If you don't agree with my response, please feel free to take it up with our Barracks Commander, EagleRock. If feels I'm being too harsh, I will abide by his ruling, whatever it may be.

Yeah yeah yeah....good work on that score of B/P there! You'll have to accept my apology on the chastising tone I took on Clock Day...I was very leery about how people would handle the temptations, and from what I could tell, nobody really let in. I shouldn't have doubted the Barracks for a minute!

I will validate your account and give you full access as a member. Hope to see you around more! Welcome back!

If you're reading this, Domo, don't expect me to overturn her ruling. Byte has been made the Recruitment Officer for a reason. Making bombastic remarks about the EGB either indicates one of two things: you either don't really want to join the EGB and only want to have it as a status symbol, or you are really that stupid and you didn't think insulting us wouldn't affect your recruitment. Either way, we don't want you here. Sorry.
