Also: I RANKED UP YAY!
Congrats! Just on time for the roster :D
By the way, Lizzardis, be sure to fix the rank climbs when you update the roster tomorrow. For example, ArtDanVal is new to the roster, so people below him shouldn't have a -1 (because it's not like somebody else passed them). Also, Cobra and I each climbed a rank, but because we're behind ADV the roster doesn't show it. When I used to manage the roster, I could easily fix this adding a +1 to the equation that automatically calculated each person's rank climb, but I'm not too sure of how you work (especially now that Byte kindly designed an automatically-updated method).
Well, in one way, I can understand your reasoning, Ismael. If these new recruits weren't added, those change in positions would indeed be as you described. However, mathemagically speaking, by adding new recruits into the roster, wherever they are inserted, those below do, in fact, lose a position. Think of it this way: if someone is at rank 30 with 20,000 points, and rank 29 is at 23,000, they need 3001 to push past rank 29. But, if in the middle of the month, we add a new recruit at 21,500, they would become rank 30, and our member at 21,000 (and all below them) drop a rank. This is reported in the next roster update, and is technically more accurate than doing the "+1" logic you describe. It also means that the person now at 31 needs to worry about an additional person "above them" when jockeying for rank.
IMHO, since all the ranking really shows is a sorted list (largest to smallest) of B/P, and we, as the EGB, shouldn't be concerned about B/P points just for the sake of counting them, the fact that someone "drops a rank" when a new recruit is added really is just for lulz.
BUT... if you really want to discount "new members" from the rank level calcs, I can modify the program to do that. There are a few calculation steps I use that will need to be tweaked, but it shouldn't be too crazy.
Think about it, and if you guys really want it changed, I will be glad to oblige.
