Who's consent? Look, I think Lizz is a great kid, but at 16, he's just barely coming to terms with life as an adult - as all 16 year-old young men are. However, if that were to be enacted, it would immediately disqualify about 98% of the world's male population for the duration of their lives. I am not here to judge, just to point out an observation that yong men take longer to mature than women - and most of them never mature at all, IMHO.

Coincidently, I have three friends whose birthdays are on the same week, which will make my own birthday look less important (which is great IMO).

There are quite a few factors that allow me to get the points that I do. In no particular order:
1) I use Portal Guard wherever I am working or when I'm home. It's my best friend!
2) I work as an independent consultant / web designer / database admin / etc. The majority of contracts I have are flat-rate (job is worth $nnnn, must be done by fixed date). Since I negotiate the amount and the delivery date, I always make sure I have some padded time in there for Murphy's law - or to take a break every 15 minutes and catch up on some views and votes on Newgrounds.
3) I live alone, and have no kids. I do visit my mother and siblings on weekends or during the week, and see my nephews and nieces here and there- but I have no one at home to complain if I stay up late and play on Newgrounds. I don't even have a pet, since I know I can't really take care of it properly when I'm not home. Don't get me wrong - I love animals - but it's not fair to them to have them be alone all day and not get the attention they deserve.
4) I average 5-6 hours of sleep a night. Been doing that for as long as I can remember. I don't do drugs, don't smoke or drink coffee. However, I do live on Diet Pepsi as a source of refreshment and caffeine, and chocolate is one of my four basic food groups.
5) I run multiple PCs at once - I can be logged onto Newgrounds with my laptop, running Portal guard, and use a 2nd machine to do my development work. I switch between the two as I need to.
6) I really don't have a social life beyond my family. I'm not a shut-in - I like to get out and do business travel and see new places and try new things. But I have issues with making and keeping friends. Too many people close to me have either hurt me, or left me (by choice or by death). So, with a limited circle of friends - most of which are busy professionals with their own families - I don't socialize a whole lot.
7) I like it here. I'm learning a lot, having some fun, helping out where I can, and meeting interesting people. So I keep coming back for more.
8) I am here by choice. If I didn't want to do what I do, I wouldn't. It's not an obsession, per se. It's my way of escaping the "real world", but not wandering too far away from it when I do.
Add all of these factors together, and that adds up to an average of 16 hours (or more) a day that I am connected to Newgrounds, doing my thing.
What I can't figure out is how people like HarryJarry do more than I do? I've seen Gagsy reel in the points, and even Coop83 gets a good pile now and then. How do THEY do it?....hmmm.....

Hopefully, that won't involve the local constabulary disturbing your party while you consume copious amounts of alcoholic beverages and enjoy wild orgies with women your friends have paid for by the hour!

I feel sorry for you Byte, I really do. I wouldn't mind meeting you in person. For the foreseeable future, I don't intend on dying anytime soon. I would never do anything to hurt my friends. If I do, it is either unintentional or it is just joking around.

I hate my own birthdays. I'd like it better if my birthdays were just like a normal, random day to other people, because that's what they are to me: a normal day. Unrelated: I didn't intend for everyone to feel sorry for me about my social life and my past. Every one of us lives the life they are given, and I am actually happier now than I've been in a while. Years of therapy made me realize that there are some things about myself that I may not be able to change, so I have learned to accept them. I can make friends if I desire, but like my view on pets, if I know I can't take care of the relationship the way it should be handled, why put someone through it? I am not bitter (any more) about my past. Not everyone is destined to be married or have children - but we all have ways to do good in this world. I am grateful that I am doing work in a field that I truly love, and that all of the coding and testing and "geekiness" is something I look forward to ever day.
But I can also take my experiences and my insights and help others through their tough times. Sometimes, all you need to get through life's crap is knowledge that you're not alone, and that eventually, it'll be better. I have learned to accept life on my terms - live and laugh each day, make someone smile with a silly joke or funny remark. Help out when I can, and try not to make a situation worse. It sounds like Karma, but it does work - do good to others, and good will come back to you.
Thank you all for your concerns - I am deeply touched by it. It may take some time, but eventually, I may just open up and be sociable one of these days. As for meeting IRL - I will think about it. I'm just cautious, is all. Please don't take it personally - it's my character flaw, not yours.
