Quite a lot - Italians apparently (generally) love women with large breasts, because they remind them of their mothers. Therefore, they must make for good mothers themselves and the whole human race must surely benefit.

Better - I'm in a band that's working off covers at present, but is hoping to write their own music at some point. They already have 3 songs penned, but I'm still working on covers like Symphony of Destruction (Megadeth); Whiplash (Metallica); Running Free (Iron Maiden) and So What (Anti Nowhere League)
Hmm, writing your own music eh? Then maybe you might want to try this on for size. Is is a 4 man band and you as the lead singer play the rhythm guitar or lead? Or is it a classic 5 man band? 1 drummer, 1 lead singer, 1 lead guitarist, 1 rhythm guitarist, 1 bass player with the bass and rhythm as backup singers?

Me? Play? *falls about laughing* Nah, I'm just going for the vocalist role at present. We have a drummer, bassist, lead and rhythm guitarist, so it's something that I'd like to work on with the guys, as four of us all used to work in Sainsbury's together and the bassist is the rhythm guitarist's brother.

Like AC/DC.

Surprisingly close, but our lead and rhythm guitarists seem to be the backing vocalists. I might negotiate for them to take lead vocals for some songs, leaving me some backing vocals, which I might be able to come up with.

Great to hear from you. About the whistle, if you're willing to help me out with it then I'd be thrilled to take the help, I've been struggling to get myself back up to the positive (then up to gold again) for painfully long - a year and four months I believe. You got MSN or should we work by PM?

As for ranking out of the Police, I have no idea. I've been with them for such a long time that I think my heart is completely stuck there. I'm highly likely to follow NeonFlame's path and retire when I reach 2,499 B/P, which will be a shame but I feel that I have to do it. Leaving the NGPD would be like leaving all of Newgrounds, even if I was permitted to carry on posting in there.

I work best by AIM mike. PM is fine, but it can take too long in some cases. Hey, I ranked out of the NGPD and followed Liz, Krev, Porkchop because we're all friends. That and I've since made many more friends in the EGB like Eagle, Slash, Byte, Rohan, Coop, Ismael, Idiot-Finder, Phantom, Puddin, and pretty much everyone else. Though I may not know them that well.

Hell, i even consider Poozy and Mal my acquaintances. Not quite friends, yet, but eh, it takes time.

While enthusiasm is always a plus, I'm gonna have to turn you down Zakk. We require hopeful recruits to have 2500 B/P, Private Rank, good posting habits, and a bronze whistle or better. The NGPD can help you with that. However, to join them, you need to have 400 B/P, Portal Security rank. You may post here, but you will not be an official member.

I'd like to apply for membership here as well, and I meet all the requirements except...

Well, I've had this garbage whistle for a year now, and no matter how many reviews I flag, no matter how many inappropriate flashes I blow it on, it hasn't changed a bit. I really think it's because my whistle points dropped to about as low as they can get a while back, but that's another story.

Besides that, I'd love to stay here and help to protect the portal.

Not much to say portal wise cant see any thing but not been that active on the portal anyway. Got to the Mine area in Resident Evil 5 cool game, and I'm playing on amateur got loads of ammo and maybe I should have picked normal mode. But I suck at playing I like playing on lowest setting but still cant all be great at games LOL.

Welcome, firemaker60, and thank you for your interest in the Elite Guard Barracks. While you certainly do have the rank and post requirements, and you seem sincere enough, that garbage whistle is going to be a real sticking point. We require a minimum of a bronze whistle here, and from the looks of thinks, you've started off on the wrong foot with your whistle.

While I cannot answer for our leader, the ever illustrious and wise Supreme Commander EagleRock, I am fairly certain that you'd need to meet us at least half way on this and get back to a "normal" whistle on your own first before you could try to join the ranks. That's all part of being "Elite" - all members need to excel above the average user level.

It's not easy, especially with a garbage whistle, but I think with some patience and careful whistling, you can get it back to normal again. It took me a long time to get "gold" - I was very cautious on what I whistled, and if I had any doubt, I didn't blow the whistle at all. It's very easy to whistle a bunch of borderline flashes and reviews, only to be penalized when none of them are deemed whistle-worthy by the admins.

There are many members of the EGB that have the whistle rules down to a science, and I'm sure a few of them will chime in after this post to lend a hand by giving you more advice and possibly some links to some helpful FAQs about whistling.

While you are working on that whistle, you are always welcome to drop in if you have something helpful or important to add to the forum. While we may be Elite, we're not stuck-up. All we ask is that you abide by the rules of the EGB, as we all do.

Hope this helps. Now, go break out that polish and work on that whistle - be careful, and you'll be back to normal in no time!

Sorry, Cobra - didn't mean to slight you.

But he wasn't violating the portal now, was he?

Besides, I didn't want to put any particular person on the spot. We know you are one of the " Whistle Masters" here in the EGB, and I do defer to your abilities and keen sense of judgment. I figured you'd chime in soon enough. But I also know you've been busy with school, so I didn't want to add any pressure to you by giving up your name.

So, yes, for the record: SlntCobra1 IS the Portal Violations Officer..

If you need help with your whistle, or with clarifying violations (or just have a need to be violated) just let him know...hehehe

We do have an IRC server set up for the Barracks, which is at egbirc.eagleworld.net. If you have ever used IRC, I'm sure we can get a few people (I'm looking at my Violations Officers... :-) to join up and give some assistance.

So, to everyone else, I've been black-holed a few days thanks to a bunch of problems I had to fix (between the plumbing in my house to multiple friends' PC issues), but I'm going to try to crawl my ass back here every now and then. I have a few recuitment duties to take care of anyway, so I'll be around. And I'm always on AIM and IRC, so feel free to bug me if you have anything pressing or just have anything to ask.

Now, I'll have to double-post for this one:

At 1/25/10 07:46 PM, sushi13 wrote: I'll take this opportunity to apply for membership; something I've been meaning to do for a while.

Welcome! I'm Supreme Commander EagleRock, the Chief Barracks Officer of the Elite Guard Barracks, and I'll be guiding you through the recruitment process. Here's how it works.

First, I will present you with the shortened code of conduct for the Barracks, along with links to the relevant FAQ's on our forums. You must read them, understand them, and post here again confirming that you accept those principles. A simple "yes, I agree" will be sufficient. This process serves two purposes:

1) Ensuring that you're not a "drive-by applicant" who asks to join and then never comes back, and

2) Ensuring that you know how we operate so there won't be any complications in the future, such as "wait, we're not supposed to be mass voting?".

After you agree to the code of conduct, the Barracks community will discuss your qualifications and decide whether to allow you into the group. Our requirements aren't too strict; beyond the main qualifications of 2500+ B/P and a Bronze Whistle or better, we'll be looking for sufficient post quality (low number of one-liners, intelligent posts that contribute to the topic), helpful reviews, any potentially problematic flashes, stuff like that. After discussion and a vote, I'll make the final call and PM you with the results. Assuming that no objections are raised, the process usually takes a day or two.

Here is our abbreviated Code of Conduct. Read it, learn it, and post again with confirmation of your understanding. If you can't abide by these principles, say so.

*****

1. Voting fairly.

This is the foundation of the Elite Guard Barracks. All members are expected to give every flash a fair vote, regardless of who made it or what their group affiliations are. We do not target any flash group, not favorably or in opposition; our only enemies are those who break the rules of the site, not those who merely bend them.

Everyone has a different definition of quality, and all members are expected to vote based on what they honestly feel a flash deserves, not on whether they think the flash will pass or be blammed. While Barracks members are proud of their high ranks, and are eager to compete with others, a high B/P score means nothing if achieved through petty point-whore voting, and any member who admits to doing so will be removed from the organization.

2. Stopping Portal abuse.

Numerous stolen, malicious, and unsuitable flash are submitted to the Flash Portal every day, and it is our job to ensure that as many of them are removed as possible. Members are expected to report any suspicious flash to the Barracks, including any evidence or doubts that they might have, and only whistle something if they are sure, beyond a reasonable doubt, that it is whistle-worthy.

Just as with B/P, points mean nothing if achieved through inappropriate means. There should be no blind rush to whistle a flash that is merely suspected of wrongdoing; it's better to let an uncertain case go by rather than wrongly whistle an innocent submission. If evidence of wrongdoing is discovered after a flash passes judgment, we can always (and will always) inform Wade of our findings.

In the case of a beyond-reasonable-doubt rulebreaking flash, members are encouraged to share their results with the Newgrounds Police Department and the Newgrounds Department of Defense.

3. Cleaning up the review system.

Members are expected to be familiar with the review guidelines and whistle abusive reviews when they come across them, and report severe cases of abuse to a review mod. Additionally, members are expected to write helpful reviews, offering constructive criticism and remaining civil even when the author refuses to do so. We must set a good example for other Newgrounders, in hopes that they will improve their own reviews as well.

4. Setting an example for others to follow.

Barracks members are expected to post intelligently, contributing to threads rather than merely dropping a one-liner opinion on it. Flaming, spamming, and other ban-worthy behavior is strictly prohibited, and extreme misbehavior will lead to removal from the EGB.

Members are also expected to act civilly towards all Newgrounders. You are expected to be helpful and patient when dealing with newer members, whether simply showing them the FAQ or explaining more complex concepts that they do not understand. Concepts such as fair voting, intelligent posting/reviewing, and keeping an open mind are essential for newer members to learn, and we are just the ones to teach them.

For those with more experience, you are expected to show respect and understand that they may, in fact, know more about Newgrounds than you do, even if you're a seasoned veteran. This applies both to fellow Barracks members and Newgrounders in the general population.

Members are expected to put reasonable effort into any flash or audio submissions, and be careful with who they become Portal Buddies with. We are quite generous with our definition of reasonable effort; examples of unacceptable submissions would be static images, single frames, ridiculously small loops, or purposefully bad music. Anyone submitting rulebreaking content would, obviously, be removed from the Barracks and reported to Wade.

5. Not starting shit.

As mentioned above, the Barracks has no enemies beyond those who break the rules of the site. Our roster has included current and former members of various flash groups, including the Clock Crew, Barney Bunch, and Kitty Krew, and we are open to anyone willing to follow our principles. Barracks members are expected to be civil to others and not start fights, and anyone found to be starting shit with anyone, even if they deserve it, will be removed. You are representing the Barracks with your actions, and if your actions do not reflect our principles, you will not be a part of the organization.

6. Remaining active with the group.

Barracks members are expected to remain reasonably active in the thread, as well as with their duties. Those who are inactive for long periods (months) may be removed from the roster at any time, and rollcalls are occasionally sent out to all members to determine who is active. Members who expect to be inactive for some time due to IRL reasons (such as school, employment, vacation, etc) should inform the Barracks in advance.

Stolen Flash

Credit given to original author within the Flash itself. The author it mentions has a Blogspot account in which he links out to the site Keaton-World.com. I can't find the individual Flash, although it seems like it is definitely taken from there - and most of the Flashes up there are from 2008 and ealier.
