So, I've got a new project. Through some research, I'm trying to figure out what the four locked boards are (9,11, 12, and 16). Anyone have any ideas? This has kept me up at night for aloooooooong time.

I can see the point in 3 out of the 4.... But why would you want to see 420?

Actually, I'm kinda glad you don't know that reference. "420" was an old-school code for "weed". If you look up on wikipedia for 420 (or 4:20) you'll get all the gory details.

Just like "5-0" means "police" (taken from the old police series "Hawaii 5-0") and "20" means "Where are you?" (taken from an old CB Radio code - when you ask about someone's '10-20', they'll answer with their current location)

And, adding to the list of ancient codes, here are a few more I'll kick around:

L7 = someone is "square", not cool (the "L" and the "7" form a square shape, sorta)
10-100 (or 100) = Gotta go to the bathroom
7734 = Heaven - if you look at the numbers upside down, they spell "HELL", and the opposite of Hell is Heaven.
4077 = Hospital (taken from the M*A*S*H series - the 4077 was a mobile hospital unit(

Anybody else want to add to this list?

Wee-- it's Saturday night, and THIS is what I'm doing for entertainment....

Thanks for your support guys. Just as an explanation, I went early decision for U Penn not because I liked their academics/name recognition, but because of the feeling you get when you walk on campus and the fact that they give you whatever they deem you can't afford. Even though you're in West Philadelphia (unfortunately, Will Smith's reasons to go to Bel-Air were real), you feel like you're in a small suburban college. And there's this feeling.... it's hard to describe, but it just makes you feel welcomed and friends with everyone there. And of course, graduating without loans would be amazing.

But not only that, it's been my dream to go to the Ivy League ever since I was little. Just like some people want to go to Ohio State for football or Duke for basketball, I wanted to go to Princeton (only because it was a great school in New Jersey; it changed to UPenn after taking a tour and finding the above). I've always been good in school, and worked hard to get towards a shot at these places. Lady Luck hasn't always been kind, but I've played the hands I was dealt to the best of my ability. I've been knocked down too many times to count, and some of those times were just to see if I could get back up. And I always did. Because I knew that if I did, that I'd be able to not only reach my goal, but also be able to make it there. But I guess UPenn didn't see that.

And Cobra, as I told my mom when she said the same thing - apparently it's not, since they didn't want me to be a Quaker.

As for my collegiate future, I've already been accepted into Drexel and Rutgers, and from the looks of it, I've got a good shot at Georgetown. I have a horrible Writing SAT (which probably got me thrown out of the running for UPenn), but Georgetown doesn't look at that. Otherwise, I'm a pretty likely candidate. Of course, by adding padding to help with my fall from Penn, I could be taking it from Gtown.

But getting rejected was just the beginning of one of the worst days I've had in a while. On top of not getting into U Penn,I had to spend my night working my schools Battle of the Bands, which wouldn't have been so bad if I wasn't backstage where all I could hear was the drums and had to help move all the amps, guitars, and drum kits on and off the stage.

Then on the way home, I discovered my car broke. The output shaft seal (part of the transmission) is broken and leaking fluid, which in turn makes it hard for my car to get going again after I stop. It's been leaking the last few days, but it wasn't much, and since I park in the street, I thought the wet spots were just condensation. Only figured it out when I pulled into my friends driveway to let him out when I saw a good 15 oz of pink viscus liquid on the driveway. Can't call the repair shop until Monday. The only consolation is that the transmission was rebuilt and a 1 year warranty is still in effect.

New Blammers Update

Are we going to see any of you guys start to close in on this list?

It's still mostly inactive, but with people in this club getting some decent paces, we will get to a more productive situation soon.

Now this flash is causing lots of people to say its stolen but its not I think anything. The flash in question is taken from The Disney Collab from two months back here.

The one in qustion is Winnie The Pooh by Emanhatten and he has used it for this flash

Now what is silly is all the stolen reviews its not stolen is it? I mean its his part he made but the comments he makes are bullshit to wind people up? I thought. Still its a funny spoof and I love Winnie The Pooh. Off topic tried the game called Forza Motorsport 3 okay not really a racing fan great looking though.

Archer I'm a good shot!

I'm only going to say this one thing about Emanhattan's part. His re-submission if you will, is a rather juicy mine for reviews. Sorted by score and read from pages 19-23 and there are a few gems closer to the 1st page.

NO I AM MOST CERTAINLY NOT RE-CREATING RAGE'S THREAD!! I AM MERELY MAKING A RATHER INTERESTING OBSERVATION, NOTHING MORE, NOTHING LESS.

These things happen - take for example pyropimp's official video for Weird Al's I'll Sue Ya. This was actually shipped as part of the interactive CD "Staight Outta Lynwood", when it was released. I know these things, I actually own a copy.

The number of people that I've banned for saying that the piece is stolen, because they haven't done their homework and they just want to jump on the bandwagon is infuriating. Hopefully, this will be dealt with in the same manner and we can just ignore it.

Hey Coop, speaking of bans, what's the most idiotic/mundane thing you've banned people for when they've left reviews?

Either chain letters, since they get really old, really quickly or of course the text pictures. While brilliant in their own right, these things are spammy and are removed with lengthy bans to accompany.

Idiotic removals are for those dudes who think that the authors remove their comments "WTF, you removed my comment three times already, it wasn't abusive!"

Hmm, interesting. Could you define "Lengthy ban" just out of sheer curiosity?

Yea, I've seen those kinds of reviews a fair amount and they're just a major pain in the ass if you ask me.

Hi,

If possible could I be considered to join the Elite Guard Barracks? Although I've only been using the portal for just under 3 months. Does lack of experience count against recruits joining.

If not, how can I enlist?

Welcome to the Elite Guard Barracks! I'm EagleRock, the Chief Barracks Officer, and I'll be overseeing the recruitment process. The basic requirements of the Barracks are as follows:

- B/P Rank of Elite Guard Private or higher (2500+ B/P)
- Advanced whistle (Bronze or higher)

Beyond those two basic requirements, we only require that you have a good enough post/review history for us to be able to evaluate your post quality/behavior on Newgrounds. Since you have enough for us to evaluate you, we can start you off on the recruitment process.

First, I will present you with the shortened code of conduct for the Barracks, along with links to the relevant FAQ's on our forums. You must read them, understand them, and post here again confirming that you accept those principles. A simple "yes, I agree" will be sufficient. This process serves two purposes:

1) Ensuring that you're not a "drive-by applicant" who asks to join and then never comes back, and

2) Ensuring that you know how we operate so there won't be any complications in the future, such as "wait, we're not supposed to be mass voting?".

After you agree to the code of conduct, the Barracks community will discuss your qualifications and decide whether to allow you into the group. Our requirements aren't too strict; beyond the main qualifications of 2500+ B/P and a Bronze Whistle or better, we'll be looking for sufficient post quality (low number of one-liners, intelligent posts that contribute to the topic), helpful reviews, any potentially problematic flashes, stuff like that. After discussion and a vote, I'll make the final call and PM you with the results. Assuming that no objections are raised, the process usually takes a day or two.

Here is our abbreviated Code of Conduct. Read it, learn it, and post again with confirmation of your understanding. If you can't abide by these principles, say so.

*****

1. Voting fairly.

This is the foundation of the Elite Guard Barracks. All members are expected to give every flash a fair vote, regardless of who made it or what their group affiliations are. We do not target any flash group, not favorably or in opposition; our only enemies are those who break the rules of the site, not those who merely bend them.

Everyone has a different definition of quality, and all members are expected to vote based on what they honestly feel a flash deserves, not on whether they think the flash will pass or be blammed. While Barracks members are proud of their high ranks, and are eager to compete with others, a high B/P score means nothing if achieved through petty point-whore voting, and any member who admits to doing so will be removed from the organization.

2. Stopping Portal abuse.

Numerous stolen, malicious, and unsuitable flash are submitted to the Flash Portal every day, and it is our job to ensure that as many of them are removed as possible. Members are expected to report any suspicious flash to the Barracks, including any evidence or doubts that they might have, and only whistle something if they are sure, beyond a reasonable doubt, that it is whistle-worthy.

Just as with B/P, points mean nothing if achieved through inappropriate means. There should be no blind rush to whistle a flash that is merely suspected of wrongdoing; it's better to let an uncertain case go by rather than wrongly whistle an innocent submission. If evidence of wrongdoing is discovered after a flash passes judgment, we can always (and will always) inform Wade of our findings.

In the case of a beyond-reasonable-doubt rulebreaking flash, members are encouraged to share their results with the Newgrounds Police Department and the Newgrounds Department of Defense.

3. Cleaning up the review system.

Members are expected to be familiar with the review guidelines and whistle abusive reviews when they come across them, and report severe cases of abuse to a review mod. Additionally, members are expected to write helpful reviews, offering constructive criticism and remaining civil even when the author refuses to do so. We must set a good example for other Newgrounders, in hopes that they will improve their own reviews as well.

4. Setting an example for others to follow.

Barracks members are expected to post intelligently, contributing to threads rather than merely dropping a one-liner opinion on it. Flaming, spamming, and other ban-worthy behavior is strictly prohibited, and extreme misbehavior will lead to removal from the EGB.

Members are also expected to act civilly towards all Newgrounders. You are expected to be helpful and patient when dealing with newer members, whether simply showing them the FAQ or explaining more complex concepts that they do not understand. Concepts such as fair voting, intelligent posting/reviewing, and keeping an open mind are essential for newer members to learn, and we are just the ones to teach them.

For those with more experience, you are expected to show respect and understand that they may, in fact, know more about Newgrounds than you do, even if you're a seasoned veteran. This applies both to fellow Barracks members and Newgrounders in the general population.

Members are expected to put reasonable effort into any flash or audio submissions, and be careful with who they become Portal Buddies with. We are quite generous with our definition of reasonable effort; examples of unacceptable submissions would be static images, single frames, ridiculously small loops, or purposefully bad music. Anyone submitting rulebreaking content would, obviously, be removed from the Barracks and reported to Wade.

5. Not starting shit.

As mentioned above, the Barracks has no enemies beyond those who break the rules of the site. Our roster has included current and former members of various flash groups, including the Clock Crew, Barney Bunch, and Kitty Krew, and we are open to anyone willing to follow our principles. Barracks members are expected to be civil to others and not start fights, and anyone found to be starting shit with anyone, even if they deserve it, will be removed. You are representing the Barracks with your actions, and if your actions do not reflect our principles, you will not be a part of the organization.

6. Remaining active with the group.

Barracks members are expected to remain reasonably active in the thread, as well as with their duties. Those who are inactive for long periods (months) may be removed from the roster at any time, and rollcalls are occasionally sent out to all members to determine who is active. Members who expect to be inactive for some time due to IRL reasons (such as school, employment, vacation, etc) should inform the Barracks in advance.

Great! I have started the deliberation process on the EGB forums, where all members will vote on your acceptance. The time for this to take place will depend on how fast people vote and how strong the consensus is. It can take anywhere from 6 hours to 2-3 days. Once I have reached a decision, you will be notified right away. Thanks again!

ALL BARRACKS MEMBERS: Please go to the poll here and cast your vote! Everyone is also encouraged to write their opinions in the thread. Thanks!

People are still leaving stolen comments on the flash would have thought the author is joking. I saw a thread which said that Tom Fulp's account today is ten years old as well as Pimp and Bomb, that is really amazing a decade ago although its only when you could first make accounts. I did a review for TheWeebl Get On My Horse two months almost since my last review. On Pimp's level 58 I think its a Helmet of Doom. I too noticed some crappy chain letters why people write them I don't know I remember the teddy ones back in 2007.

Yeah, before today I hadn't reviewed since that Egoraptor Transformers movie. Nearly two months there too.

On Pimp's level 58 I think its a Helmet of Doom.

How long is it again until he reaches Level 60? I haven't been following it as much as I used to.

Who knows? Maybe they want to be part of something, to join onto the chain. Maybe they're dumb enough to believe it. Maybe both. All I know is, it's a clear indication of a dumbass. Did I ever mention how much I miss Rage's, and those days two years ago when I'd stay up all night statwhoring?

Wow, the winter background is so much better than last year if you ask me.

Pico is on P-Bot and the tankmen are escorting Bitey to prison and Steve is in a Santa Hat. Also, P-Bot is carrying a Christmas Tree. I really do like it.

Yeah, I love it. Maybe it's the heavy presence of Bitey, and I'll not only admit but proudly proclaim my Brackenwood fanboyism. Still, I have been waiting for this, and when I noticed it was finally up, let's just say I was pretty damn happy. I love the Christmas theme.

I am saddened by the lack of Retarded Animal babies, however. Why was Bitey chosen over them?

I can imagine it's because RAB are considered pretty retro, the newer users won't know who they are as they don't grace the top 50 as often as they use to.

The new Bitey cartoon just came out, they are pretty damn and just about every regular forum user on the site knows the works of Adam Phillips. I know a few regular users who don't know anything about RAB. I do however because RAB is what first attracted me to the site, that and reviewing submissions.
