Why don't you ask the latest Ig Nobel prize winners? One of them was a guy who cracked the knuckles on one hand only for 60 years to see if it made any difference to the chances of arthritis (now THAT'S fucking dedication!). Nah, not really. The whole "You'll get arthritis if you crack your knuckles one too many times is complete bullshit. I've been doing it for about 10 years now. The previous two sentences have been typed without ME EVEN LOOKING at my laptop or the screen. IMMA GETTING BETTA AT TYPING!

It's not necessarily bad, but the sacs between your joints can eventually become damaged the more you pop them. Some say that popping your fingers will lead to arthritis.

I noticed that too he stole SlashFirestorm icon he only joined recently, so I'm keeping a watch on venom0us. Maybe be one of Chris Beer's alts but who can tell. I asked my chiropractor the same thing, and his contention was that all of the arthritis and enlarged knuckle theories are bunk. As long as you aren't working to crack the knuckle too hard, it won't really hurt you.

I noticed that too. I think it was more random than not. Doesn't seem to be an attack on Slash specifically, but definitely worth keeping an eye on.

I know I'm not really one to push seeing as how I'm writing my own fic and I haven't even gotten through half of BUF, but you, my dear Byte, really know how to keep the reader hooked and highly anticipatory.

VERY interesting chapter. I'm trying to piece together the information myself, and I think I see it coming through partially. I just have one question: you mentioned Gamma universe is a period of time in the future...is that the future of Alpha or Beta universe, or do we not know which one it is?

I wanted to note that the blade is in fact a kris (sadly, I learned what a kris was from Diablo II :-/) but the housing for the knife is a switchblade. Here's an example of a switchblade kris knife:

Well, according to the "future" Phantom, during his reply to Byte's long explanation, it seems that Beta is the future of Gamma, Gamma is roughly parallel to Alpha, and we're not sure what will happen in Alpha's future.

I didn't think "switchblade" because the handle looked too short to hold such a long blade. Usually, on a switchblade, the handle and the blade are about the same length, since the blade is concealed in the handle. I guess the rest of the handle was cropped out of the icon, huh?
I'm sure that I will read the stories that are posted here eventually, but as of now I'm not quite intrested in them. I think it's more that I have other stuff to do and that I don't really have the time to read/enjoy them.
In my free time though (which is maybe once or twice a month) I'll write a little bit as I've always tried to write a book. I'm probably on page 20 now and I'll probably stop around page 100.

Yep. It's the same with all of the other icons, you'll notice. Take Level 23 (mine) and you'll notice the fireaxe handle is way too short for it to accommodate the axe blade. I'd also say that the old Level 30 icon is a spear, and not some huge sword. Just focuses on the important parts.

Unfortunately, in NJ, the law is you can't even own one. In some states you can own it, but not carry it. In other states, you can own it, and you can carry it, as long as it's not concealed. In the other states, you can't even own the stupid thing.
Not that my life is permanently scarred for not being able to own a switchblade, but it just seems stupid. Switchblades are no more deadly than other blades, you can just quickly extend the blade. What's to say me concealing a 5" bowie knife isn't deadlier than a tiny 3" switchblade? The whole law comes from the fact that switchblades were glorified in movies and stories like Rebel Without A Cause and The Outsiders. It's all about perception.

Looks like you were right Lizz. It did pass, but I'm still not sold that the person who submitted it is 100% genuine.

If the NGPD was still up and running, you could join that, but it's under a lock right now, and may never be opened up again. So your best bet is to work upto that Private rank.

For me there has not been to much for me to talk about. With all of this conversation of stories that you guys have made and suff is all well and good just that i don't have that much time to read them or talk about them.
