The author's e-mail is the same as the one credited in the flash...
Why do you think it's stolen?
At 10/2/09 10:54 AM, SlashFirestorm wrote: After some consideration, I've decided to make the following changes. Coop is willing to step aside in the command structure, and since he's a review mod in addition to a long-time EGB'er, he can do so without losing any prestige. So, I'll be moving EagleRock to Lieutenant CBO (and moving Phantom to Second Lieutenant CBO, which isn't a demotion, just a re-shuffling, lol).
It's great to be back. :-) I'll be here!
This way Eagle will take over if I wander off, Phantom will take over if Eagle then goes inactive again, and RohanTheBarbarian will take over if trees fall on all three of us. Heh.
Please remind me not to stand under a tree with you and Phantom. Thanks.
Coop will be given the honorary position of Reviews Violations Officer, which just means that he's our resident review mod, lol. Wouldn't feel right to have one of the oldest members of the EGB out in the cold, heh.
I fully agree. Coop is an officer through and through, and deserves no less.
2. Peacetime Officers
Advancement Officer, as some have noted, isn't super-necessary, but it could be a good addition in the future, especially if the NGPD stays locked and we lose that pre-EGB training that NGPD alumni get. For now, it'll stay vacant unless necessary, much like the currently-absorbed position of Recruitment Officer.
Again, agreed. This position is more meant to give certain members the prestige they deserve and give them an opportunity to use their experience on Newgrounds towards the common good.
Lizzardis will indeed become the Lieutenant Records Officer, as he did a fine job with this month's roster. One little note---Insanimation left, so whoever does the next roster should go ahead and take him off. :-)
The guy is motivated and I'm sure will do well.
As for Portal Violations Officer, I agree with Eagle's recommendation---SlntCobra1 is quite active in the EGB and with spotting rulebreaking stuff, so I'll make him the Lieutenant Portal Violations Officer, working with phantomlassuk to handle the Violations Reporting Desk and the Master Violations List. This obviously means I'll make him able to mod that section of the EGB forums, as well.
Congratulations, Cobra!
If we need any other adjustments or additions, don't hesitate to speak up and let us know.
Well, the only other adjustments to be made would be structural in reworking the forums or adding other forms of communication, like Ventrillo, IRC, etc. There are discussions on the forums right now for this stuff.
Also, one additional update on my own: My story is basically ready to go, and I already have a plan for teh sequel! I'm planning on releasing the Epilogue this weekend and you can expect the sequel's Prologue next week. In the meantime, just for fun, I'd love to hear people's theories on what they think will happen in the Epilogue or their views on the end of the story. Lizz gave me his insights on IM already and I found it quite interesting to hear what people think. Post up in the forums or the thread here!

No, I don't mind, so go ahead if you want to (I've done a lot of updates so I think it's fine if you want to give it a try too). Also, I probably won't be at home on January 1st so if you can make that update too would be great, otherwise I can do it on December 31th or January 2nd.

Stolen icon from toss the turtle.
Indeed, I think it's not flag-worthy. The whistle should better be used in the flash, not in a mere icon. Also, it's pretty common to see people stealing popular flashes' icons, because there are actually people that are stupid enough to fall for that who vote high in such flashes.

Great! I'm looking forward to that sequel! I didn't think you would release it so soon though. I'm not expecting any surprise for the epilogue, and if something happens, it will probably be unpredictable so I won't even think about it. If it's set in current time, then the roster will be a lot different. Thats obviously because over time, the Barracks received more and more members. There will also be new moderators who probably get on well with the EGB.
So I'll just speculate about the new Barracks enemy. I'm thinking about several possibilities (without considering Wadolf returning in some weird way). This is the one that could be interesting and related to the real life too: the EGB may be attacked by the mods, which would be unexpected considering that after last story the mods don't have any reason to hate us. Some other people may turn against us, and we wouldn't know who we can/can't trust. However, in the end it it would be discovered that they aren't actually mods, and that they are just impersonators (reference to the DD account hacking).
Just a conspiracy theory though. Of course, there can be other malicious groups, or other people turning against us. Instead of speculating, I'll just anxiously wait to read it.

Okay, I'll toss my theories into the ring:
For the epilogue, even though it appears all is quiet, that's only short lived. They wind up walking into an ambush - seems that while everyone was off the grid killing each other, there was no one left in Newgrounds to really stop a few determined crews from breaking in and taking over. (think along the lines of the Mafia). But with their forces diminished from all the losses at the hands of Waldolf, our intrepid survivors barely manage to fight back and escape. The EGB needs to rebuild their ranks, and fast - and the mods and the Fulps need to get control back. But that's going to take some time - a luxury they don't have. The longer they take, the stronger the "mafia" (a la DuckDivision and cohorts) gets embedded in the daily functions of Newgrounds - with their only goals to completely pervert it and ruin the Fulp's reputation.
As for the Prologue of the sequel, it could take place in a hidden bunker or some generally secure area, where the surviving EGB are trying to figure out what to do to get their city back. Despite the mistrust and betrayal from the prior story, everyone is forced to work together in peace - to fight their common foes. They put the word out to the streets for more people to join the EGB, and out of desperation, overlook a lot of faults of many of the new recruits in favor of getting the headcount back up. This proves to be a part of the storyline later, as some of these recruits wind up to be plants and/or double agents for the organized crime families that have a stranglehold on Newgrounds.
Hey, but that's just my idea - maybe you could use some of it? Oh, yeah - you promised a "Billy Mays" tribute in the sequel, remember?
I am sure that no matter what you do, it will be done well, and a page turner at that!

(And yes, I am working on Chapter 8! - only 253 more chapters to go! Well, not really 253 - actually, I'm just not sure - but we are definitely past the half-way point...)

Definitely a fair assessment of the situation. Well, it won't be long before you see what really happens!

I will have to say one thing about your theories...they certainly reflect your writing style. You seem to have a natural knack of writing in some kind of science-fiction dystopian version of Newgrounds, and do quite well in thinking of potential pitfalls and worries that the Barracks and the soldiers in it will encounter. Of course, let's hope this brings us some insight into your own story... :-PPP

HI BILLY MAYS HERE FOR...oh wait.
Thanks to everyone for sharing their insights on the story, as it is quite appreciated. It is often hard to lose focus on what exactly you have told the reader, as you (as the writer) are omnipotent when it comes to what is revealed and what is not. Getting this feedback certainly helps put things into perspective and will definitely help the Epilogue make things clearer (as I continue to tweak it). Since I'm meeting a friend tomorrow (one that had to move his ass all the way out to Arizona), I probably won't have time to finish/release it, but if I do, it'll be later in the night.
Again, thanks to all and I'll talk to you all tomorrow!

Thanks, I'm cool with that.
I propose that with regards to the post quality of prospective entrants, I check their reviews, to make sure that they're not writing spammy reviews, but making the post quality better to meet that requirement.
I can't find the original right now, but I'm pretty sure that this flash is stolen from
, or from somewhere else. I'm not saying you should go ahead and flag it, but it's highly suspicious.
Man, I hate playing catch up on saturdays. Ugh. It sucks so damn much. Other than that, I've begun wprk on chapter 10 of my fic and it has been uncovered on AFF. The portal seems to be relatively slow this afternoon.
Thanks for the roster Lizzardis I have finally managed to get to Staff Sergeant after all that time ,I'm proud of my new badge and I'm now to get to Master Sergeant my next badge. Of course I'm looking forward to reading the epilogue. Is anyone else finding typing on here slow? its really annoying. I guess it must just be my Mac. I have now finished reading the last chapter great stuff. Hopefully next month I will be up on the list want to improve my b/ping a bit.

Not a bad idea. Similar to the Advancement Officer role, it might be worth it for you to promote the proper flagging of reviews and proper posting, as you are definitely one with the experience and credentials to give people proper guidance on the subject.

Well, I'm on my Mac right now, and I notice no real slowdown myself. Might just be your machine.
And as far as the Epilogue, wait no more! Here's the final installation of the Barracks Under Fire story: Barracks Under Fire - The Epilogue
I hope you all enjoy it! And yes, I do mention alcohol in it, and NO I am not condoning underage drinking. :-P Enjoy the chapter! I'll be hopefully starting off the sequel next week, so I won't let the suspense bleed on forever...

Well, everyone's qualified to talk about abusive reviews, but it does seem a little condescending of people to go around flagging reviews without being able to write a good one or two every now and again.
Basically, we should be the embodiment of everything good about the system and if writing reviews is a part of that system, we should be using that for good, writing constructive reviews whenever we feel like reviewing.

I'm not sure this flash is stolen. It was only uploaded yesterday. Dannyzgames is also a flash aggregation site, so it could be the same person uploading it. Also, it appeared on Kongregate today by a user with the same name:

This one seems legit to me. If it is stolen, I don't think the evidence is strong enough that it is stolen.
Eh, sure it's been flagged, but I wouldn't exactly call that malicious, I'd call that more along the lines of subliminal(if you could even call it subliminal) messaging.
In other news, I've gotten page one of chapter 10 written and I'm currently working on page 2. I like to try to keep my chapters to a minimum of 5 pages. Maybe more if I can really get into it. Also, I'm still at a loss for a chapter name and no Idiot-Finder, I'm not watching the "Yu-Gi-Oh! Abridged Series" on youtube.

and anyway, life is boring, I'm now reading a book I bought two years ago and never read. That's how slow everything is for me. The portal is the same as usual, but some prick named "venom0us" stole Slash's pic, what the hell?

Flashes that spawn pop ups are unsuitable. Sure, they aren't that bad, but they are breaking the rules nonetheless.

Given that the user replaces an "o" with a "0" in his name, I'd guess he's just another spammer that's been operating all along. You know how they are, stealing anything and everything that they can from people who they don't like. Unfortunately I can't guess his identity from the Flashes submitted... This Alt Detector's been on the fritz for a long time.
Hey guys, just thought I'd stop in to make sure you guys know I'm alive and still moderately well. I see EagleRock is back, which is a great relief. I just read the "Barracks Under Fire" story/book and it makes me quite happy to see that he indeed walks among the living. I must say, that was one hell of a storyline; I almost cried.
Anyway, I'm going to try to answer all my mails and get in some B/P tonight before I go to sleep. I've got to try and get that promotion somehow or another.
