Most Newgrounders on the Portal don't bother watching beyond the first few seconds of a flash. That's also one of the reasons why fake preloaders and [good intro/terrible content] submissions manage to pass judgment.

Not much, our Portal Violation Officer will report it to the powers that be, who will hopefully delete it promptly, and then we move on. It's all we can do, we're always going to be fighting against the tide, just enjoy the battles we win and forget the ones we don't.
Speaking of which, you-know-who got his account deleted for the umpteenth time, although I doubt that the result will differ at all, he'll be back.

Don't forget that we have some people here who aren't on DSL or who are impatient or just system abusers, see a 9meg flash, or hell even 6 and above, and just vote five because "aw hell it's a big file must be a good one".

That's when something amazing happened. I discovered, for the first time in a while, these flashes won the awards legitimately! No fileswapping, or renaming it so to incite anger. These two flashes were never submitted solely to win these awards, it just happened. The Turd even gave me a cheap chuckle (plus the tune is catchy as hell).
Never lose faith, because you never know when you might be surprised.

Yeah, Malachy has a massive campaign going on Tuesday nights to delete and ban users participating in award theft (writing masses of 10 rated reviews for Review Crew Pick and Underdog) and Wade is deleting quite a few dodgy things that would usually be turd worthy.

Eliminating all spammers is impossible. I'm not talking about NG, but all websites. There are always people who will spam, there will always new people who will find this website and decide to spam it, and it's not that bad actually. The only bad thing is when they steal awards, which apparently didn't happen this week :)
It is a great progress, it feels great to watch a shitty flash that legitimately was named as turd of the week. Props to Wade and review mods (especially Malachy, I suppose) for this :)
Sorry I've been kind of quiet lately on the EGB board - been busy on another project - I'm the new caretaker of the NG Log site now! I've been working with Casualty these past few weeks, and it's just about ready for cutover. You can read it here on my page post: NG Log - Under New Management
Once that settles in, I'll be a little more active here. At least I found something useful to do in all my spare time!
Oh, and on the prior topic of blocking spam, and the mods and the Fulps being more active in deleting the crud - I'm happy to see that, and if there's a way we can start to automate spam blocking (by IP or smarter name recognition or reading the comments from the author or...whatever) I think that would be the next step. But all of this so far has been a great step in the right direction - and I am glad I can be part of it!
