I use a program called UFX to convert it to a different type due to the large amount of file types it can save as. The resizing/cropping feature in UFX is kind of annoying to use, so it's easier to do that kind of thing in MSPaint, save it as a bmp and just convert it with UFX. It's mainly for adding effects and shit to pics, I used it for pretty much all of my sigs/profile pics for my "Bizarro" account.

Oh yeah ... you're now entering in a zone where it takes a loooooong time before you level up (well ... it's not that bad at level 11 but ... it's not like when you just had to wait 5 days for your level up)

That's just because MS Paint licks bag when it comes to file conversion. Paint Shop Pro or Photoshop both produce good .gifs and .jpegs with the right settings applied.
