Shit! I meant 4000 blams! You'd think Wade Fulp would give us an "Edit Post" option.

No, that would really screw up the BBS.

1)It would Lijim's job.
2)He will never do it and he already typed why approximately 150 times.
Don't even bother asking him again.

If people could modify their posts, they could type something like:

-I like this mod.

the next person to post types: -me too

then the first poster changes his post to the opposite:

-I hate blahblah

the second sentence is still : - me too

then they get both banned even if the second guy didn't deserve it.

I could continue showing many situations where an edit button would be more trouble than anything else so I'm sure that a mistake in a post isn't that bad compared to what could happen with an edit button.

Response to Wi/Ht? level up! Lounge 2004-12-03 19:01:36

a good idea would be to give an edit post option to specific users, but if they abuse that then they can just have that removed. i'm sure liljim is capable of doing that. But only users who are trustworthy can have the option to edit their posts.

I had no idea that adding an edit button would cause so much trouble. I withdraw my statement about adding the damn thing.

Nope, he won't trust anyone. The best idea that we gave him was to be able to edit but the old message would still appear so they know what was your first reply. The message and the edit would both have a date so the mods and admins would know if the users that responded to him replied before or after the edit.

He said many times and that he won't even trust the mods so forget your idea. :D

Or maybe have an edit post for everyone.. but only have the edit button for 5 minutes after the post and then after 5 minutes then a user cannot edit their post. Sometimes after viewing the post after it has been posted makes people aware that they've made a mistake. I know i've made a few mistakes in my posts in the past and so has several others.

It takes 5 seconds to post a short reply and it also takes 5 seconds to edit a post . A short discussion could turn out into something ugly if the first edits right after a few replies his post and the second one typed that he agrees before the edit. The second guy might be busy or posting somewhere else so he might not notice it before an admin or a mod.

The mod or the admin that will see the posts has no idea about what was modified so he doesn't know to what the second guy agrees. He will probably assumes that they second would agree with the offensive post that wasn't one before the edit and he will ban both.

My example was for 2 people but more could agree and more will unfairly banned.

Whenever they will try to explain themselves to an admin or a mod, the admin or the mod won't believe him because the proof that he was agreeing to something else would be gone.

.. so Yoink, is it still a good idea? :P

Disposing of the evidence so to speak (lol). Hey Regulus, would editing a post affect bandwidth in the same manner as posting does? Would the addition of an edit button cause the system to run slower?

pfff my post has a few mistakes. I type "they" and then "him" O_o. I still maintain my position though. I would prefer to check my posts instead of using an edit button. I had one good suggestion where both messages (first and the edited parts) stay there but ummm I dunno, it could still give some trouble to the admins, especially for a reason: the posts would start getting mega-long. No solutions seem perfect :(

oh yeah that paragraph wasn't a reply to you recon. haha

I think that Wade should add some more whistle ranks such as platinum, tin, aluminum, just to vary the users alittle more. It may make users want to get better whistles and actually care about them (thinking they actually have a chance at a new rank). It will cut back on all of these abusive reveiws coming in.

That would be nice, yes.

Also I hate the fact that people can write horrible/spammy reveiws, on movies that are going to be blammed, and get away with it. Any commentary?

They don't get away with it ALL the time. Only when no review mods are online. Just ask BonusStage about that.

That's exactly right.

And that's how I post in MY topics and other topics I post in often enough that I can make one BIG multi-quote reply to catch up... and then "turn it down a notch" for replies later that day, for instance.

The problem is that I don't post in level up! often enough anymore to really stay caught-up long enough to ease into a less-lengthy post mode here. I come here every week or so and post big catch-up posts... and maybe I'll follow it up with ONE reply to someone who replies shortly afterwards... and then I'm gone for dozens of pages again, so of course the next time I return, it's another big gfox-style catch-up post. :::shrugs:::

Most whistles that I gained where from abusive reviews linked in the abusive reviews thread.

Bad idea, some important information would be lost. People couldn't follow the topic because posts that contribute and that were quoted aren't there anymore.

Even worse: a user could bash bigtime another one. Piss the other user off until it becomes a really ugly flamewar and before a mod or an admin notices it, he deletes all his posts. Then he says that nothing bad happened and the mods won't have a good reaon to ban him because they don't know what happened. Sure, the quotes could help but some parts will miss and that could be an advantage for the user that abused the system.

You could add a timer to that deleting option but it can still be abused.

I just found out EK said this and more, but I still think that editing posts is a bad idea. If you want to do something about your posts, spell check them before posting. It's been said a billion times, but prevention is the best solution.

Yeah Ramagi, it does seem that there has been a steady flow of random users coming in here and making useless comments, many have been alts....*cough*BonusStage*cough**hack**wheeze*choke*die* ;_;

Qwoxyl (sp?) great job earning the bat. It's pretty hard to get out of there annoying hands nowadays. But you've gotten along just fine. =D

Well congrats SK. 2,000 protects is a lot. In fact it's not too far off from me. STAY BACK. >=( Hehe, keep up the good work, just don't pass me.

Well congrats DareDevilGuy on your successful posting. 5,000 is a lot, and it take a ton of patience. Too bad you skipped the screenie. Looks as if you'll have to wait for 5,555 posts then. =D

Happy late 17th birthday -TRA-! =D I disabled that. =P

Nice job tottie. 5,000 blams is a lot of work and effort, yet you managed to miss the screen too. 5,555 for all!! =D

Well SCD nice to know that you don't have to deal with a malfunctioning computer anymore. That's always good news. =D

Congrats on your rank up agatio. B/ping always seems to be harder as you get up there, but every rank makes that vp rise threw the roof. Hope to see your 4,000 blams soon. =D

Dammit, you just had to bring up the edit button thing again. Here's the bottom line: We haven't had it, we don't have it, and we never will have it. >=(

Yes yes gfox I know to read the rest. That's what I'm in the process of doing. I'm sure it'll be a "light" read for this Sunday. XD

I don't whistle flash very much, I'm not good at locating stolen flash, and the malicious junk I just blam. Whistle points are dead to me.

Well there's my late update for today. I'm sorry I totally didn't even make a post on the 3rd itself. But this is basically my post for December 3rd. For I woke up late this morning and had no time to post and then after school I had to go visit my mom who just had surgeury. ;_; Well nothing really special happening with my NG account.

Side note to SK: I told you. It always happens. You start to get closer to me in b/p then drop back. Like I said; hovering. =D

I prefer to call it a distraction. Namely, I've gotten really active with Retrogade lately, and it's caused my b/p rate to tumble. So nyah! :-p

Your posts aren't as intense, because you add spacing. My main difficulty with reading your stuff is the sheer volume of it (ie. 1-3 loooong posts in pretty much every topic) when you play your catch-up game. I generally ignore the review-related ones anyway, but it can still be quite intimidating keeping up with your catchups.

Once again, nothing of major interest to declare. Slowly working my way up the top 50 BP, hit 1500 posts yesterday, but neither really deserves celebration or even acknowledgement

Ahh. Well, I tend to vote first and then whistle. I often miss out on the whistle that way, though. If I remember to, I whistle first and THEN vote, but I don't usually remember to. #;-}>

I am as close to gold right now as I have ever been...
Hey I havn''t marked a review today. :)
I been doing other things, I did ban a couple of morons.

By as close as I've ever been... I meant: "not very." #;-}>

And yeah, I noticed your banninations, just as you noticed at least one of my 4. It seems like you and I are the only review mods using the review mod log topic anymore. ;_;

And yeah and yeah, I did notice you didn't mark the reviews of the morons I noticed you'd banned... some reviews were still at 0/0, but don't worry... I fixed that nice and quick.

Still, even if you retire from super-marking duties, the chances of me hitting gold before... say... hitting level 19... are very, very low. #;-}>

Most whistles that I gained where from abusive reviews linked in the abusive reviews thread.

I understand your fear. I tend to only whistle when I'm sure as well. That's why I don't whistle very much flash. But I do mark a lot of abusive reviews, so that's why I do okay when it comes to WP...

Anyway, I was just responding to your "I vote 0 when A)It's against the rules ex: stolen, malicious, etc." thing from a couple weeks ago, that's all. Wanted to make sure you knew not to vote 0 on stolen flash by default, and for anyone else who was doing it at all.

Don't they usually get blammed and then the real author submits it? so the admins can transfer a flash from one person to another? What the hell did you mean?

:::shrugs::: man, I wouldn't know, I'm not an admin. I'm just telling you what the admins say to do. After you whistle a stolen movie, it TELLS you to vote what you think the movie itself deserves, and not to try to punish the thief with a 0 vote. That's all I'm saying.

His name is AnusBoy. I finally remembered it. aka sanderail or TheSander.
I didn't ask for his username ;O. I just wanted to know what happened.

I didn't say you asked for it. I wanted to say it back in November and couldn't think of it. I have since run across the name again so now I remember. Voila!

OMG!!! YOU TWO ARE BANNINATED!!!
Oh really? testing right now :D

hahahahaha. no.

Then you won't be banninated!
OGMOGMGOGM we are banninated O_o :D

THIS TIME I'LL LET IT SLIDE.

MAYBE.

By the way, why do you reply to my old posts? I don't even remember posting that. :O

Because that's called "catching up."

Of course you posted it, ya big silly amnesiac! I don't forge quotes.

Ahhhh, the wonders of adminhood.

Just take a look at how many people you passed on today's top 500 VP list due to a b/p rankup.... and then tell me that you don't care about b/p because you're too busy with RG.

GO ON! I DARES YA.

RG ain't got NOTHING like the thrill of a VP climb. Of course, I suppose you could change that, Mr. Admin. #;-}> Adding VP to the PS Portal would be pretty nifty... you already added review responses and (not)helpful review marking, after all.

Yeah, it was after I wrote my faux-upset response that I realised that's what you meant by intense, not the size of the overall post.

However intimidating my catchups are... they don't compare to trying to read 20 pages of level up! like I just did yesterday. Hmph. #;-}>

It is a step up in the levels by being the first weapon, i think you get bit more respect around the BBS if your level 13 upwards.

Don't tell me you haven't seen any posts from anyone becoming level 13. "I've got ...." should be a very very very very huge hint.

Ohhhhhh yer sorry i must have miss understood your first post.

That confused me for a second , i clicked your profile to see this PPD number, when i saw your post count was at 5555, in your profile but on the page it was 5554, most weird.

I'm not really retired, I am actually taking the time I would use to mark reviews for other things. I still get a few here and there. I just want to spend my time doing otehr things. Since the title is mostly secure.

Yeah well, im not fussy, i dont really vcare what level im at, aslong as it is up the way :) Nunchuks are cool, but i like the pipe aswell, its kinda growing on me for some reason. Meh, gauntlet by 06 doesnt sound to bad :)
