hmm, yeh i'd say that all of the stats are updated at around 4:30AM onwards, so that theres no confliction with bandwith and so on.
and, i suppose most people are less active at that time... you dont want the stats being 23 hours out of date.

It's just something I know...I have usually been up around that time, and I just figured it out. After tracking it for a couple of days, and noticed that it was updated at the same time each day, I know now that it happens on a consistant basis :)

The recalc time is grandfathered in from when NG shut down every even day for 3 hours and every odd day for an hour. The maintenance time was 4-5am or 4-7am EDT/EST. It was just the perfect time to recalc all the ranks, when no one was one to change the stats on which they were based. There's just been no need since the shut-downs stopped to change it to midnight EDT/EST.
