What really sucks at this point is that UJ lasts for ... count em ... 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, SIX votes. I throw a 2 at one of the top flashes that's at 3.4 or whatever and the thing drops to 3.37 or lower. Things like that are why NG bumped base up to 200 votes ... less effect of any one vote.

There were a few instances (3 or 4) where I got to vote twice on a flash and got points for both. It still doesn't explain how I have 62 points in 2 days when the most recent flash is entry #200. If ONE person you mean lol It's all new, so even if there is a VP of some sort, we're all essentially tied at 1VP anyway atm. Even so, one person on one account can seriously mess someone's scores up by throwing 5s or 0s at it. Start throwing alts into the mix and that one person could make or break any UJ. Even presuming the author 5s his flash, 5 0s break it.

Presumably the author is (or was) allowed to vote on their flash, but recently I've seen entries park UJ with no votes, or just mine, for a half hour plus.

NG only recently got around to listing the ranks we have. Most of the info prior to that was gleaned from watching ramagi rank up lol

The latest fun one is that they recoded the portal at ~3:30 this morning. He tried to encrypt the site, which promptly screwed everything up because the server wasn't able to read the DB info and vice-versa ... pages missing backgrounds, black 12 point pica Times Roman fonts on dark blue table backgrounds, etc. I caught the "fixes" along the way. He's now got the page communicating directly with the DB server, but you (client) run through a page called trick.php, which is just the javascript gibberish encryption, before you get to it, so that's the "page" you get when you view source on it now. When he essentially jacked the formatting and layout from NG, I fail to see any purpose whatsoever to encrypting it ... besides, I already had one of the source codes up comparing it with NG, so I just saved it. Anyone want a copy? :-P~~~

It runs out at 6,550 characters. Unless you start running a list, or doing multi-replies like I usually do, you won't typically run into a problem. The gold/white breach is roughly 6500 characters, presuming you actually use every space. Putting a space between paragraphs chews up one of the allotted gold lines, but actually only costs you a space. Visually you'll see a pargraph take up (like your comment above) 5 lines, but the reality is, each line ends in spaces you did not actually use as the word wrap kicked in. It's actually kind of difficult to get to the limit. My gold/white breach was right through the middle of "communicating directly with the DB server, but you (client) run", half of each word in gold and half in white, but I'll bet I still have 1k characters or more left just from here.

On some computers/browsers/whatever, the background doesn't move. I find that much better than scrolling down and seeing a blank yellow/orange (and eventually white) background. Congrats on your first long post, even though most of it seemed to be quotes. ;)

SCD, the nominations were done on the BBS. Go digging around and you should find most, if not all, of them. I've since deleted the email with the nominations in and can't remember if you were nominated or not, but once the new member is in I'm sure somebody will tell you if you were nominated or not, if you don't already know by then.

When the time comes for someone to get added, we get a call for nominations. A little later we get the e-mail of the list of people, from 2 to a lot more than 2, and we all vote on that list. It's highly subjective on how we vote.

I go with my impressions, which are based upon the posts I see. For example, Recon may have noticed a bunch of things that person B did that I completely missed, so would be more inclined to vote for them. Since I am oblivious to it, I might be leaning towards someone else. I certainly don't go sifting through thousands of threads reading posts by nominees to decide (probably a good thing, especially for some of you people constantly getting banned). If I don't, likely the only other person who might even consider that would be gfox lol

I lost the link a long time ago, but back in the 100s pages of the thread there's some rules spancker drafted up for this whole thing. It got updated along the way the last time spancker rejoined us ... late 300s I think. If no one else has links to it, at least you've got a ballpark to start rummaging.

Half hour, wow. No one must know that they can/could have done that. Here you're lucky if you see an UJ entry without a vote for more than a minute.

More like looooooooong post, my second post at NG was quite long with no quotes (I don't think I knew what w/ meant at the time). Meh, I guess I just ment it in the sense....you aren't pulling ahead of me...we are neck and neck basically. So, about 14 more days till I level up in Exp. Good afternoon all, I just got done boating around a lake near I live (not the one in my sig dogma, /bad joke). It's been a good day so far, refreshing to say the least. On a more NG related note, I noticed I'm no longer in the 1,000's exp wise. I am really glad to get rid of that extra digit in my profile. I think i'm going to keep tabs on how long it takes for me to get into the 800's for shits and giggles. I passed a very slowed down Tim Scheff and the out of gas dl monk aswell over the the course of last night, which is some good stuff.

More than likely what's happening is that the people with whom you have become familiar were 10 and 11 when you started noticing them, and are now 12 or soon will me. There's many more 11s out there, and "10s that will be 11 soon", it's just that not a lot of them hang out here. Relatively speaking, there was a flood of "new" people becoming regulars in this forum the last few months that has more or less petered out ... Let's not get into all these level 11 alts that keep popping into threads lol
