Carly Rae Jepsen - Call Me Maybe
I'd rather go around remembering the video for Call Me Maybe, than the video for Gangnam Style. At least the Carly Rae Jephsen video has a woman singing in it.
Nice one.I would have hoped for a distraction like that. I got chatting to a female colleague and we exchanged numbers, only for her boyfriend to find out and phone me at 3am, just to fart down the line at me.At 10/8/12 03:32 PM, Haggard wrote:At 10/8/12 05:20 AM, Coop wrote:

Yeah, what happened to your love to Futurama? :P Is it going to be that I'll get you season 6 on blu-ray and be like "This is an early birthday present for you." at the London meet?Only six episodes, though. And with that said, just two more days until the next episode.I'll get there, it just won't be immediately. Look at how long it's taken me to get at the new Futurama... and still counting.
I'll be very bittersweet at that - I won't be able to watch it for another few days, as I'll be away from my Blu-ray player

There are two key parts of the title to look for here: Levelup!, basically meaning that any milestone of statistical significance can be shouted about in here, without fear of reprisal, and the ideal of "No stat threads" has been abided by.
Secondly, the title "Lounge", basically meaning that this is a thread for regulars to hang out in, post about their daily goings on and just have chit-chat with one another.

Yes it will, you guys will still be here, so will I and the few other semi-regulars and I'm sure plenty of new people will appear. Maybe if we all put a link to it on our userpages with a small explanation what this great thread is about we could attract so more peeps. And let's keep in mind we are all getting higher in Levels so the achievements are few and far between nowadays but that was always to be expected. So we need to get some new lower Lvl Newgrounders posting here. Maybe if Coop or Bahamut or Haggard (one of you guys) could make a short 'Rules of the thread post', so the newbies know what's acceptable posting and that there's absolutely no fucking around in here and spammers/trolls will be severely dealt with, with bans. Things could greatly improve in here. Not that I don't already think they're great.

What is wrong with being weird? Open notepad and copy / paste it into there. Trust me, you will get the hang of it, by knowing who said what. See what I did with this, by taking the "leitger said" off the top, since there isn't your older quote on there any more, it's just mine.

Yeah, the same for me. 0/40 in my Blams / Saves ratio :(

How can it be a Twix?! There's only one of them!

General Rules for the Wi/Ht Levelup! Lounge
Welcome to the Where is / How to forum's Levelup! Lounge. Feel free to post your statistical achievements here, make lists of your own, congratulating others for their achievements (though try to keep them down to once daily, if at all possible) and joining in the conversation.
Don't be intimidated by the size and scale of the thread, the high moderator presence, or the fact that our conversations are long-winded and probably lost on you by now. That's all ok, we understand.
If you are going to post achievements, please adhere to a few guidelines that we've thrown together in some vague order, which I'll list below:
The Level Up. Change of Experience of B/P Level to X+1. Well done.
Increments of 1,000 B/P; Blams; Saves; Posts; Experience; Medals earned
Increments of 5,000 Medal Points
Increments of 100 Reviews (or every 500 total reviews)
Increments of 100 Review Responses (or every 500 total responses)
Increments of 100 Different games played and you have achieved 1+ medal on.
Change of whistle status (We don't congratulate or ridicule of you drop down, we just don't care.)
Cracking the top (x) Every 100 positions above 1,000 (i.e. 900, 800 etc) for Experience or B/P - there are lists for this.
Cracking the top (y) Every 10 positions gained above 100 (i.e. 90, 80 etc) for the same, plus Blams, Saves, Reviews and so on.
Winning a contest (usually one based on your own talent, not through sheer luck)
IRL Birthday - There may be cake
Account Berfday - There is no cake
Base / Total Voting Power - Every 1.00 that you achieve beyond 5 for Base, every additional 1.00 that you achieve for Total
"Special" numbers - 13.37 Total Voting Power; 1,111 Blams; 12,345 Posts. These are all special to one extent or another. Share it.
We do not accept achievements based on less than these parameters, because you thought it was so long since you last achieved, no matter how tempting.
Coming into the place and saying "I'll be Level 16 in 3 days!" will get you a warning from our resident mods. Come back in 3 days and tell us, when you have. You might stop depositing for some reason, I can't tell the future. If you come along and say "I'll be Level 17 in 3 days!", when the time is right, expect to be banned until you are Level 17, as we mods have a sense of humour :P
If you get an "unachievable number", such as reporting 22,222 Experience, yet your experience figure does not end in a 2, you may get away with a warning, it depends on the mood of the moderator. I post first thing in the morning, so expect me to be a little cranky.
Have fun - this place is over 2,500 Pages long and we've been posting here for years.
Any Questions?
Oh and while I'm at it, 24,000 Posts
Told you I'd achieve something today. Now to put the Mongols in space.

That's surprising, considering how much you used to like Steam.
Let's just say once one or two of us are done here, this thread will no longer have its daily activities. That's all it is these days. It's sad to think this but I doubt this thread will even be alive in 12 months time. The sad part about this statement is, that I think that it is true...
We sure need some fresh faces in here.

At least the Carly Rae Jephsen video has a woman singing in it.At 10/9/12 01:45 PM, Haggard wrote:At 10/9/12 03:17 AM, Coop wrote:

Then get another account and check this one periodically.Well, at least your email address is a popular one. I get the usual shitty spam ones, but not weird pieces like that. Those weird e-mails are one of the reasons I simply cannot abandon this mailaccount.
I already have 6 e-mail adresses that I use every now and then. No need to get another one. :P
That's plenty to see, though.I think I saw about 30 seconds of that video. I hardly ever watch embedded videos, because most of the time it's boring shit.A pudgy South Korean man, dressed in a suit, dancing as if to imitate riding a horse. Seriously, you've got to have somewhere on the internet to view this video, by now.Yep - if you go back there now, it'll be "Gangnam Style" with everything. This is a meme that went completly past me.
One of my colleagues showed me some "turkish Gangnam Style" a few days ago. So, that's two videos I've seen a few seconds of.

I can agree that back then the place wasn't so active but the way the BBS activity has been going, there's going to be even less. What happened to the days when the BBS would get over 15,000 posts each day? Now we barely make it to 1.5k on a regular basis. As for the LUL, when was the last time we got a new active member for the forum? It's just the old guys like me, Coop, Haggard and Odyssic around here.
However, if you and gamejunkie for example were to join in conversations more often, it would help the activity of this thread a lot. Anyone should be welcomed here but only as long as you're not a cancerous piece of shit.
At 10/12/12 08:06 PM, Odyssic wrote: How come you don't like Steam anymore? Is it a video games thing in general or just related to Steam?
I don't want to buy games that don't even work on my damn laptop and I'm not talking about games that won't work simply because the graphics are far too powerful. There are games out there that are horribly tested by the developers and most likely Steam themselves. I don't know how their approval system works for new games as well as updates but if broken games can slide, then I wouldn't give it long until someone manages to put a virus on there. I know the last part sounds like I'm really stretching it but the way these games are going, that's where it may as well be.
This new thing with the greenlight system only spells doom for Steam, particularly the indie genre, as well. Shame on that since if I'd still support Steam in any way, it'd be for the indie games just for the sake of supporting smaller and newer people as opposed to big companies who have enough money to roll around with. So for these reasons and the fact that the customer support is less helpful than an overseas call centre, I don't want to even have a Steam account anymore. I honestly could care less if selling/transferring my Steam account goes against their policies. May as well let someone with more enthusiasm have my account but don't think I'll give it away for absolutely nothing.

Can I be the one douche that points out that such guidelines exist already? However, that was back in 2008 so things have changed since then, particularly with the implementing of medals. I'd say it's looking good enough. I agree with Odyssic's idea to have it every 10k medal points but I'd still accept 25,000 and 75,000 (and 2.5k/7.5k for EXP, blams, saves, posts, etc). Thankfully problems here are minimal (the only advantage to the quietness of the place) so it's not often we have to smack someone for posting something wrong. It's not like back in 2008 where this place got spammed to oblivion and we had no mods at all to help out with the place. Now this place is regularly watched by at least two mods so you'd be a fool to fuck around here. You'd also be a fool to troll in the Metal Hell as long as I'm still here but that's for another thread.

You'd think that but as time has progressed, Steam has declined and it's only gotten worse and worse at this point.

I'd love to see fresh faces here. Hell, if I didn't then what would have been the point of handling the Wi/Ht? Regulars and Members lists for 2008-2010? I have love for this place and I'd hate to see it die out completely. Of course, we all have to move on from things so this is something I may have to let go if activity continues to drop.
Well it's taken two and a half years but I finally got to the 2,000 Blams.

The only game that I've ever bought that didn't work on my PC (just on my laptop) is Amnesia, and I believe that's because I have a shitty intel mobile gpu on it.
I've never had any other games not work properly for me though. What games haven't worked for you?

I agree with you about Steam's customer support.. It could definitely be better. At least it's better than Origins custommer support.. I heard that some times if you buy a really buggy game you can contact steam support and ask for a refund and they'll refund it.. at least they do that.
Deploy the... it's a yellow button... it's usually flashing... it makes the engines go... whoosh!
