I think as long as you vote honestly on every flash, you shouldn't be too worried about your ratio. I think it used to be that the portal was filled with much crappier stuff which was easy to blam, and therefore it was easier to keep something like a 1:1 ratio (for a long time my blams outstripped my saves). Nowadays, my impression is that stuff which comes through the portal is of higher quality... and that people have become a lot more lenient in their voting... Either way, if you try to keep your blams and saves together, I think you're going to struggle.
That's why as long as you give each flash the vote you think it deserves, I don't think you should worry about it too much.

Anyway, I think the translators that translated Monty Python's Flying Circus did a pretty good job. Especially in that episode with "Mr. Hilter".
Also, there are (I think) two episodes completly in german. Very interesting if you keep in mind that none of the Pythons spoke a single word german. They just learned how to pronounce the words, that's all.
