I'm sure that's what the Holland Tourism department states, heh. Sounds pretty much like California. If you have a card you can only have so much in a certain amount of time and if you abuse that then you get sent to jail.
Obviously the laws are stricter are stricter in America than in Holland, but here I don't think you're exactly free to do what you like with drugs either (even though many foreigners seem to think so). You aren't allowed to carry more than a certain amount and when you're caught smoking pot out on the street or in some public place, it's likely that you will be searched and will be taken to the police station.
It's what we call a gedoog policy. I'm sure it won't be hard to get pot in Amsterdam though. Once you have it, just don't go attracting too much attention.
I think they do want to use a pass system for coffeeshops that lie near the border in the future though. They're having some trouble with drug tourists and they want to make sure only members (of which they know personal info) can buy softdrugs.
I don't like seafood all that much though. I found that about every thing that comes from the sea has this typical taste that you either like or you don't. I don't like it.Is the quality of the sea food in the North Sea poor? I know that some of the seafood in the Gulf of Mexico tends to be just a little below par compared to say the Atlantic Ocean.
I don't know, but I wouldn't be surprised. Herring is quite popular here, but for the rest I don't think there are that many good fish coming out of the North Sea. I think the Atlantic Ocean and Mediterranian Sea hold better fish.

Feeling the power of the raw essence coursing through his form, Coop watched as a twisted form of Osama Bin Laden rushed through the portal towards him. Momentarily stunned by what the energy of the Unconquered Sun had done to him, he tried to move, groping for a weapon.
Suddenly, his grip tightened around nothingness, which become substantial. The shimmering glow of the sun's own light seemed to take the shape of a golden bow and without thinking, he whipped the weapon to bear on his foe.
Loosing an arrow, he found the target, then drew back the string a second, third and fourth time, all of the arrows striking the body, which fell over limp. Coop looked at the bow, confused momentarily and a wry smile crept across his face. With a half gesture, he dismissed the bow to elsewhere, a timeless region between worlds, from which he could summon the item back whenever he wished.
Suddenly, he felt whole again and as Coop looked upon the world of the Portal, the sunlight burst forth from the horizon and a new day dawned, silently. All was well with the world once more.

I must say I can't understand all those people celebrating, shouting "USA! USA!" or saying "USA won!". What do you think will happen? Suddendly all terrorists say: "Oh, Osama is dead, now I will stop being a terrorist"? I don't think that's how the world works... :/

I'm not trying to justify the use of the word gay as an insult, I'm just trying to explain why I used it in the first place. ;)But now you know why you shouldn't really go around using it as an insult. It's just not a good idea at all.
Yeah, I forgot one of the most important rules of communication. "One sentence can be interpreted in many different ways." If I say "They look gay" it may be funny to one person, but to the next person it might be simply hateful.
I really shouldn't say who's going to be on Metal Monday but I suppose this one is quite obvious if they are not only highly underrated but I spent £25 to get one of their albums. However, I can easily say who WON'T be on Metal Monday:Brocas Helm's Defender of the Crown (costed me £25!)I hate to say it, but I never heard of them. :(
Do you plan to post a song of them on Metal Monday?
Iron Maiden and Metallica
I wonder if those bands have "lesser known songs".
Keepers albums are their most popular albums so it doesn't surprise me if there are those who don't bother with their other albums. Shame, really since there's tons of great stuff from this band.Helloween's Keeper of the Seven Keys: The LegacyI never got into Helloween. Seven Keys is quite good, but they are just not my cup of tea.
I saw them live two times. The first time was at Wacken Open Air 2001 and it was very mediocre but I thought it had to do with me being tired and exhausted (I've been watching bands the whole day and my legs hurt from standing and running around so much).
I then saw them again at the Rock Hard Festival (I think it was 2007), but it was the same: I thought it was mediocre again. The spark just didn't jump over...
They're definitely one to check out. They don't have the most accessible sound production but once you can adapt to them, you're in for a treat. If you want to get into them the easy way, you should start with Crystal Logic since it has the cleanest sound production from them. Give Necropolis a listen and see what you think.Manilla Road's Mystification and Roadkill/Out of the AbyssI heard of Manilla Road, but never listened to them.
I did that and I think the production is a bit... low quality. The vocals are way too present. ^^
But apart from that: I don't think it's going to be my favorite band, but it didn't sound too bad either.
This album has Riding the Storm and The Battle of Waterloo. Those two were worth the £15 alone.Running WIld's Death or GloryHeh, I never would pay that much for a Running Wild CD. I like their music, but as I've mentioned, they are basically just covering themselves since their first album.
"Under Jolly Roger" is my fav from Running Wild. And not even for that (neither the album nor the song) would I pay 15 pounds. :P
Another band I highly recommend you check out. I think I showed you Warriors Dawn before but it didn't really click on for you.Slough Feg's Down Among the DeadmenAnother band I haven't really checked out.
Yes, I listened to that song. But ah well, one can't like every metal band. ^^
I could get Alive in Athens for £10. I suppose I can't argue with that. Those right there are my most expensive CD purchases. All of them are great albums and worth the purchases.I payed more than 16 pounds for Iced Earth's Alive in Athens, but it's 3 CDs, so you propably won't get it for much less than 16 pounds.
That's a great deal.

Belgium people too as far as I know. When it comes to beer, I guess we're all the same.At 4/27/11 04:34 PM, Auz wrote:Another thing the typical dutch and the typical german guy have in common. At 4/27/11 08:04 AM, Haggard wrote:I don't think the typical Dutch guy will care either, but they probably only drink pils anyway :pAt 4/23/11 04:18 PM, Auz wrote:

Many beer drinkers don't like wine all that much. But no matter what type of beer it is, I still prefer wine.Nah, I never liked wine. And sparkling wine is even worse. The only thing I could throw up from after only one gulp.
Sparkling wine? I've never heard of that. I imagine something like champagne.
Yes, I think it's a form of champagne. It's called "Sekt" in germany.
XDGnat's piss?That's what dict.leo.org told me. :(
The german phrase is "tastes like fallen asleep feet". ^^
My gf said gnat's piss is indeed a proper expression. I don't know, in Holland we commonly say: "Tastes like horse piss" for terrible beer. "Creek water" for disgusting coffee :p
I don't think we have a special expression for disgusting coffee. But one saying is: "A coffee is a good coffee if the spoon can stand upright in it!" >_>
Spitfire? Sounds like something that's mixed with some peppers or something. It might be a good birthday present for some of my friends though. I'm sure they'll be interested in having a 20% beer, and if it tastes like horse piss than we can probably have a little fun with it.I'd rather drink something that tastes good. We once had a "beer festival" on my birthday. We bought beer from all over the world (there's a special shop in Hamburg that sells all kind of beer). There where some really bad ones... especially Spitfire from the UK was awful. >_>
No, it's named after the aircraft from WW II.

spitfire.jpg <- the bottle looks nice enough, but it tastes like shit. :(
I never really had a beer that tasted godawful. Then again, I haven't tried out that many exotic beers. Also, about every beer that's brewed in Holland tastes about the same. They did a blind tasting test once with a lot of "beer experts" and beer brewers and they seriously had about every brand wrong. There was only one guy who recognized his own beer, the rest had it all wrong. They couldn't even taste the difference between an A-brand and some cheap ass C-brand from some supermarket.
Then I am happy about the situation in germany. At least I can taste a difference between the single brands. Jever is a very strong/bitter beer, but it still tastes good. Beck's is just as strong/bitter, but it has some weird after taste, so I would only drink it if there's nothing else left.
My favorite beer is Astra, which is only avaiable in Hamburg and the surrounding areas. It just tastes great. ^^
