Most of my courses homework was optional since Exams have to be a certain percentage of your grade, especially the Final which was mandated to be a minimum of 30% of your grade. Of course for certain courses you have projects to do or essays to write which might be considered an exam grade but as far as homework in a traditional sense I wouldn't say so.

Most exams here are just 100% of your grade :p You either pass or fail the subject based on that one exam, no exceptions. Projects are usually separated from the courses, but they're not so hard to pass. They're just a lot of work.

I'm not sure which system I'd prefer. Yours sounds more relaxing because if you got a good grade for that 70% already you won't even have to bother with the exam.

There is so much free time you can see how many students fall in to a gap of not studying, getting too preoccupied with a part time job and ending up dropping out.

Yeah I guess that is to be expected. No wonder the American education system has such a bad reputation ;) I think in most countries in Europe they always try to give us as much to do as possible. Although the drop-out rate is still high at some studies.

Well, we study in semesters here, one semester (no surprises) lasts for half a year. The summer semester usually is from April to July and the winter semester lasts from October to February.

Which features are you talking about? To my knowledge ICQ supports chat rooms (you can invite multiple users into it) and of course chatting between two users. Which are about the only things a client should support, imo. ^^

If you had the real MSN and AIM programs, you'd know what you're missing out on.

Yes, I could run a website, but it's not what I want to do. I have coded some websites already and it's a pain in the ass to always keep in mind to code for all the different browsers out there. Especially the Internet Explorer seems to interpret HTML in a very special way...

For me a typical upper division Econ course grade scale consisted of Midterm 1 30%, Midterm 2 Final 30%, and 10% Misc. For like the general Econ course (they type they force everyone to take) is the same except you took Three Midterms and they would drop the lowest one. Each college is different but typically this is common for most courses.

That has only happen to me once where I didn't have to even have a passing score on the Final; Physics II. I just had to score a 44% and still keep my B or score something like a 97% to get an A.

The fact that I finally got the Fallout 2 mod to work and it wasn't working because of fucking censorship and not because of the mod itself.

I never owned an Xbox so it doesn't bother me. However, if you really want to look at servers shutting down, have a look at EA's games.

Another good example that companies don't have to go out of business to shut down servers and thus making it impossible for you to play some of the games.

But Steam will always allow people to play any of their games.

"Always" is a pretty long time, I don't think your statement will hold true for such a long time span. :P

Yes, I could run a website, but it's not what I want to do. I have coded some websites already and it's a pain in the ass to always keep in mind to code for all the different browsers out there. Especially the Internet Explorer seems to interpret HTML in a very special way...

Aha. But what else could you do on the informatics side then? Maybe advising companies and such, but then you're probably going more to the business side already.

Most exams here are just 100% of your grade :p You either pass or fail the subject based on that one exam, no exceptions. Projects are usually separated from the courses, but they're not so hard to pass. They're just a lot of work.

For me a typical upper division Econ course grade scale consisted of Midterm 1 30%, Midterm 2 Final 30%, and 10% Misc. I see. Sounds a bit like how it goes in highschool here. You just get a couple of tests that account for a certain percentage of your grade and then they take the average at the end of the year.

I'm not sure which system I'd prefer. Yours sounds more relaxing because if you got a good grade for that 70% already you won't even have to bother with the exam.

That has only happen to me once where I didn't have to even have a passing score on the Final; Physics II. I just had to score a 44% and still keep my B or score something like a 97% to get an A.

Ah :p I always wondered how the American system would work with those letters as grades. I didn't know how you could take the average of an A and a B. Thought you guys just had to get anything higher than an F for every test or something, but with those percentages it makes more sense.

Anyway, I suppose you took it easy and went for a B then in that case :p That's what I would do at least.
