I do intend to get Okami...Sometime.

Tried it, no luck. I'll just have to use Firefox for the time being for eBay. What's worse, I'm having troubles ordering stuff on Amazon using Opera. That's two big sites having issues with the browser. This is not a good sign.
Strange. Don't have any problems on either site. :/

I'm not sure what the hell is wrong then but I'm considering a downgrade. Now I'm experiencing issues with the search function. When looking at walkthroughs on GameFAQs, it can't search shit! Maybe these sites don't even support Opera that well which is a damn shame.

That won't mean I won't die then. When that future becomes me, I'll know to not go back in time or find a way to counter my past self. See, I can keep things under control.

Yeah, but they were hypocrites, by going through Shakespeare and nothing else, while criticising me for reading only Terry Pratchett.

I don't know about that. When one writes about selling and eventually eating Irish children to feed the rich you know that must be tops in satire. :P

Oh for the opportunity to study Dickens. At least we could have related more to that, since he was only about 160-150 years removed from us. Shakespeare is some 400 years before we learned it, so we suffered from the fact that the language has changed an incredible amount.

What they never taught Dickens at anytime in school? There was no tell how many essays I had to write over Great Expectations in High School.

But yeah, the language difference is very noticeable between the two but I find that Shakespeare's works to be more entertaining; I never was able to finish a Tale of Two Cities.

I can and I will blame the teachers. They have their favourites from within the syllabus and they persistently picked them, as opposed to ones that they viewed as more of a challenge.

They will teach what they are similar with. I live in Oklahoma so there was a number of time through out HS and College where I had to read The Grapes of Wrath or analyze the difference between the movie and the book, or debate the plight of the poor in the book and it's relations to today's poor, etc. . .

The solution was to suggest other authors that you haven't read. Horror is a difficult genre that people don't usually want to study, as is fantasy. If Tolkien weren't fantasy, I could practically guarantee that English schools would study him as a part of their English Literature courses, but the education system seems to be against children using their imagination.

When you can satire everything from London (Ankh-Morpork) to the first Gulf War (his novel, Jingo), we know that there is a very subtle modern satire that not many people realise they have read. They see the satire, they understand the jokes and laugh, but they laugh on a different level. He flies under the radar in that respect.

I can and I will blame the teachers. They have their favourites from within the syllabus and they persistently picked them, as opposed to ones that they viewed as more of a challenge.

That reasoning is because the teachers in later education don't realise that you've already covered the book. What needs to be done is that they "reserve" that text for later in life, so that you don't study a piece to death.

Hence why studying not only Shakespeare, but Romeo and Juliet 3 times through my education has left me somewhat jaded.

I don't think I'd have been so annoyed if I'd studied different works of Shakespeare.

I remember when Schumacher got supremely cocky and Barichello passed him on the last corner to steal a famous victory. He wasn't popular, since he didn't follow team orders, but if he had, both Ferraris would likely have faced penalties.

Well, I think there was another case, very similar to this one... I think they finished side to side, but Barrichello was slightly ahead of Schumacher, thus he had the victory. Schumacher stated after the race that his plan was that they finished holding hands. Well, he still won the championship that year, so it didn't really matter. :P

Also, your bets for this year's championship?

Avs-Ducks tonight, go Avs!
5-2 loss :(

Oh well... big game at San Jose tonight!

Also, the Islanders still have a very slight chance to make the playoffs... But really, even if we get there, we should face the Capitals, which I bet it would be a sweep. :(

Haggard might say a bad thing or two about them.

Ah, I still think Sonata is awesome. I still hope that they'll play in here one day. :)

Indeed, we're close to finishing now. GameFAQs just finished their contest but it sucked. They better listen to the criticism I MIGHT give them.

You know, considering the poll results in their website, where about 30% voted for the end of the Character Battles (given five options, that is), I think they'll try to change it this time (if there is a next one).

Also, final battle tomorrow! \m/

Congratulations!

Before I come back and catch up later, BTW... I do have one achievement of my own to report, and how appropriate to be following the above poster's post, since it's very similar...

My big 10-post catch-up in here was on Feb 13... and then I didn't post in here again until a week ago when I just dropped by to make a single post...

So.... much like Spiffy before me, my little break from this thread has caused me to miss announcing my NG anniversary (which was just a bit later that same week I caught all up on LUL, saddest of all ;_;) on the very day of it, alas, but... better late than never, yes?

Ugh. Well, I have all the quotes I want to reply to ready (ALL SIXTY-FUCKING-EIGHT OF THEM o_ooooooooo), but it's 2AM and I don't feel like starting the actual replying tonight, so it'll have to wait till tomorrow.

IN ANY EVENT, looks like the topic has slowed down quite a bit. I made that one-off post in here a few days ago... on page 2572, it seems... and now the "present" is only on page 2573... and on top of that, there's only been a single post in here since my post earlier this evening.

THANK YOU, LUL, FOR SLOWING DOWN A BIT (so I can get back on! #;-}>).

I'd have to say (begrudgingly) that a Ferrari driver will be on the top spot this year. But that is the case so far. I can't call Vetell, because of the reliability issues with the Red Bull.

Avs-Ducks tonight, go Avs!
5-2 loss :(
Oh well... big game at San Jose tonight!

Let's just stop talking about hockey :( Every time you mention an Avs game, we lose :'(

Also, the Islanders still have a very slight chance to make the playoffs... But really, even if we get there, we should face the Capitals, which I bet it would be a sweep. :(

How about them Leafs? Are they going to stop Boston from getting a really good draft pick? Looks likely that they'll only get 4th or 5th place now in the draft lottery.

Well, if you don't use your camera very often, then they should be enough. We only use rechargeable batteries in here, despite them not lasting for too long.

If I really want to, I'll just find some batteries in the battery box and hope I can get some I can use.

Come on, doc! Do it, do it, do it!
CHEERS MATE!!!

Demoman has made me saying that quote more and more.

Haggard might say a bad thing or two about them.
Ah, I still think Sonata is awesome. I still hope that they'll play in here one day. :)

I'd like to see them live too but only if they don't play too much of their latest album. Most of it was forgettable to me.

Here's hoping but they'll just consider the other 70%. However, maybe they'll say no to joke "characters" from now on.

At 3/26/10 11:30 AM, Bahamut wrote: I have Pokemon SoulSilver! :D
Awesome! Is it really better than the original one?

It's hard to say since I'm only 6 hours in (yeah, I'm slow) and the remakes have so much more added to them. Original Silver I must have played for a total of 300 hours.

OK, just as long as you WILL get them done tomorrow. If not, you know what will happen.

It's been said in the past, but I've actually done a decent job of having a lot of the times my name has been said removed. The name change helped a bit as a lot of the old links lead back to Corky52, which is basically empty.

But still, your profile picture is a picture of yours... shouldn't you take it out as well? Who knows who can stumble upon your page...

I can change that when I'm going to get a job. I can't change posts. I still have another year of college before I have to worry about the picture.

Perhaps I should watch it for the first time on it's anniversary...

Nah, I think I watched it about 6 years ago, but I was so young I simply can't remember what it was about. It'll be a good day to give myself a reminder.

I'll get it when I'm up to playing it. I have enough games lying around that I've yet to play and Steam is far worse.

Steam is a plague! :P
Also, I don't like the idea of games being tied to one account.

Uhh, obviously not. Will I get a lecture from Doc?
Sure, if you watch part II again.
Will I be watching part II again? :P

Well you should.

Sounds good. Is this another festival?
Yes. Rock Hard Festival again. Bloodbath will be there and Sonata Arctica as well. Maybe I'll give them another chance. ^^
Good, be sure to do that, although chances are they'll play songs from their new album and that was their weakest yet.

I have yet to wait and see when they will play. If they play Sunday evening chances are I will already be on my way home again.

It was at Wacken Open Air.

Yes, Henry V is pretty good. Macbeth is my personal favorite and while Julius Caesar was pretty short is still pretty interesting. It really has to do more about Brutus and his debate about what to do with Caesar and should he go along with this plot and the consequences afterwards.

That's insane. Since Scrotum is number 1 on the portal id listing, it should be noted that it would be also the 10 year anniversary of the fully automated Portal.

Yeah, it's the conspiracy leading up to the death of him. It's not as if Caesar was particularly memorably over-indulgent, but he was murdered, allowing succession to run through. Politics is still quite ruthless :P
