After securing 250 B/P this week I'm so close to 3000 saves and Corporal that I can practically taste it. 1000 blams feels like it's going to take forever though. Which I suppose is a good thing; means more people are submitting quality flashes than garbage lately. There was a point in I think February when at least half the flash submitted each day was utter trash.

Hmm laws are slightly different here I believe. You won't have to pay anything back in the first five years, but afterwards your debt will increase with like... 2% per year or so (just like an ordinary loan, except cheaper) and then you have to pay it back within some amount of time.

Fortunately you will receive the first five years of student support as a 'gift' so if you finish your study in the minimum amount of time you won't have to pay anything :)

The amount of blue in the portal is starting to make me pick and choose which days to submit simply because I can't keep up with the scores of the great submissions. The slow days are becoming harder to find.

Yeah the system is different here. The government gives out grants of 4,300 Dollars (3,186 EUR) max to lower income families but typically that doesn't cover everything so the government also offer low interest loans of 1.25-8.25% rate which you start paying back six months after you graduate or drop out. Not to mention, any other scholarships you might earn from other sources like the school itself.

Well when your are in Grad school the course are tougher but the hours are less. I averaged about 15 hours per week in college but grad student will average only about 9. So that's about 2 hours per night each week or 3 hours if you go every other night.

I only had one student job so far, heh. But they didn't need me anymore, so my contract wasn't renewed.
I really wanted to look out for other jobs, but it's kind of hard to do if you don't really have to. My parents give me enough money to live and to pay for the Uni; currently about 250 Euro per semester (semester fee), which covers the costs for my semester ticket (I can use the public transportation system of my town with it) and some other costs as well (like, I get cheaper food in the canteen).

I don't pay any tuition right now (which used to be 500 Euro but is now 350 Euro), there's the option to defer those. I have to pay back my debt once I earn more than 30k Euro a year. I don't know if there's a time limit, though...

Also there's another problem (I have to get into greater detail for this one ^^): In Germany there's something called "Regelstudienzeit". It means that some smart people once said: Well, for this field of study you shouldn't need any longer than X semesters.

So the "Regelstudienzeit" says, I should've completed my studies after 9 semesters. I am currently in my 10th semester, so I didn't make it in the amount of semesters those smart people once determined (but it isn't unusual. Only very few people get their studies done in the "Regelstudienzeit").

Now the problem I have is, that the deferral for the tuition fees is only active until 2 semesters over the amount those smart people said I should need for my studies. So once I reach the 12th semester, I have to pay tuition fees and the semester fee. Which propably means, if I have to study this long, I have to go to my parents again to beg for more money.

Right now, I have enough to live and to save something up for the next semester fee. But if I have to pay tuition fee on top of that I don't have enough money.

But the "funny" thing is, even when I had my student job, I still hadn't enough money to pay the tuition and the semester fee and I still had to go to my parents "begging" for more money. :/

I missed a few days of depositing this week :(

Not really my fault, though; I blame the internet connection at my girlfriend's place, which wasn't solved by the replacement router, nor the endless connection tests her housemate was made to do by the broadband people.

Apparently a technician was supposed to turn up yesterday to sort it all out... so HOPEFULLY by the time we go back tomorrow their internet will be up and running. If not... I'll have to resort to using the internet on my Blackberry, which doesn't support Newgrounds well enough to deposit EXP or any of that good stuff.

Oh that's nice. I don't think I'll be that active in the Art Portal, but perhaps I can write a couple of reviews here and there. I'm sure they'll be included in the Pentalist someday, so can't hurt to work on that stat for a bit. And who knows, maybe I'll be drawn to the Art Portal a bit more.

Hmm laws are slightly different here I believe. You won't have to pay anything back in the first five years, but afterwards your debt will increase with like... 2% per year or so (just like an ordinary loan, except cheaper) and then you have to pay it back within some amount of time.

Fortunately you will receive the first five years of student support as a 'gift' so if you finish your study in the minimum amount of time you won't have to pay anything :)

Yeah the system is different here. The government gives out grants of 4,300 Dollars (3,186 EUR) max to lower income families but typically that doesn't cover everything so the government also offer low interest loans of 1.25-8.25% rate which you start paying back six months after you graduate or drop out. Not to mention, any other scholarships you might earn from other sources like the school itself.

8.25% rate still seems like a lot to me :p I don't know what the rate for a normal loan is, but I guess you could lose a lot of money there if you don't pay it back fast. Also, sucks to be in a higher income family with parents that don't want to jump in.

Aw, but I think night classes would suck. Or at least, there is indeed not much time and if you're already working 40 hours a week I wouldn't want to spent the evenings following courses. But I guess you don't have much choice these days...

Well when your are in Grad school the course are tougher but the hours are less. I averaged about 15 hours per week in college but grad student will average only about 9. So that's about 2 hours per night each week or 3 hours if you go every other night.

And yeah I supposed those hours would be less, but imagine if you just worked for 8 hours and then have to go to this grad school for two more after you've had dinner. You'll probably have to do some traveling as well, so you're basically busy from early in the morning to late in the evening ALL WEEK. I think I'd prefer to drop on the couch and watch TV after I'm done working.

Oh you'll probably have plenty of time then. I believe generally uni-people earn about 30k per year max when they just start working. So I suppose you'll still have a couple of years before you have to start paying back, and once you do you got a decent salary already.

Also there's another problem (I have to get into greater detail for this one ^^): In Germany there's something called "Regelstudienzeit". It means that some smart people once said: Well, for this field of study you shouldn't need any longer than X semesters.

Lol, "smart people" as in: A bunch of nitwits who actually know jackshit about stuff that has anything to do with education? :p

So the "Regelstudienzeit" says, I should've completed my studies after 9 semesters. I am currently in my 10th semester, so I didn't make it in the amount of semesters those smart people once determined (but it isn't unusual. Only very few people get their studies done in the "Regelstudienzeit").

Now the problem I have is, that the deferral for the tuition fees is only active until 2 semesters over the amount those smart people said I should need for my studies. So once I reach the 12th semester, I have to pay tuition fees and the semester fee. Which propably means, if I have to study this long, I have to go to my parents again to beg for more money.

Ah, so basically you already have a student loan, but once you cross those X amount of semesters you're gonna have to pay extra if you want to continue? That sucks =/

Right now, I have enough to live and to save something up for the next semester fee. But if I have to pay tuition fee on top of that I don't have enough money.

But the "funny" thing is, even when I had my student job, I still hadn't enough money to pay the tuition and the semester fee and I still had to go to my parents "begging" for more money. :/

But can't you just take a cheap student loan then? I suppose that if you go working in the summer, get some money from your parents and loan a bit you could gather enough money to make it for another year.

Of course I'm sure there is a wanting need eventually for a list of who has the Top Art Reviews in line with Flash and Audio Reviews (not to mention to itch my curiosity). So I created a fairly accurate list of the Top 50 Art Reviewers.

I'm not quite sure if it's worth creating a full thread about it; so I was wondering what you guys thought. Do you think it's worth being tracked like the Flash and Audio Reviews Threads or should it be shelved for the moment? By 'worth being tracked' I mean are you personally going to have some interest in it. :P

No but really, it's not on the front of your profile. You have to view all of your reviews and it's displayed at the bottom, however it's incomplete. It will only list your last three Art Reviews and it doesn't even link them to the submissions yet. And if you try the "With Responses" Reviews it will give an error since that page hasn't been created yet.

I think people will be interested in such a list, but maybe wait with making the thread for a bit longer? It seems to me like the feature hasn't even been developed fully yet. I suppose admins will eventually put them under the Flash and Audio reviews under Newgrounds Stats and will show which review belongs to which submission.

Once they implemented that, it may become easier to update the stat. On top of that you're probably gonna find some new users soon, so if you would post the list right now you might have to make a lot of changes later.

So in short: I'm okay with making the topic, but let's not rush things.
